Tancredo takes McCain to task on immigration
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | June 24, 2008

Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado drew attention early in the Republican primaries as a champion of securing our nation's borders against illegal crossing and fighting against amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Now, in an open letter to presumptive Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain, Tancredo is questioning McCain's role in a private meeting with Hispanic leaders in Chicago last week, and is challenging the candidate to stand firm on border security, regardless of the audience he's addressing.

The finger-in-your-chest tone of the letter may have subtly accused McCain of backpedaling on border security pledges in Chicago, where it was reported McCain promised an audience of 150 Hispanic leaders "comprehensive immigration reform."

"Senator," reads Tancredo's letter, "given your past sponsorship of amnesty legislation, such statements raise troubling questions. Are you planning to break a promise you made in February to postpone all other immigration reform legislation until we have first secured our borders?"

The letter goes on to allege that promises for secure borders have been dangled as carrots to lead legislators into voting for amnesty measures, but were then yanked away unfulfilled "after the amnesty was achieved."

"Republican lawmakers in the House of Representatives are resolved to never let that happen again," the letter warns. "Are you prepared to wage war on conservatives to secure another amnesty for illegal aliens? I hope not," wrote Tancredo.

"If you go to the La Raza convention in San Diego and deliver a message that surrenders to their amnesty agenda, tens of millions of Americans who heard your earlier message will feel betrayed – and rightly so."

Juan McCain betrayed conservatives and conservatism long ago Tom. How anyone can support someone whose immigration policy will cause an incredible amount of irreperable harm to the country is astounding.

Good for Tom the Tanc.

Never backing off, always on the offensive. McShame has no right to the backing of Americans with his mad amnesty crap.

McCain, his campaign and Senate offices need to be flooded with phone calls, emails and letters from the American people telling him to drop any form of amnesty and to withdraw from the La Raza convention and condemn any of La Raza's agenda! It needs to be done now!

The capital toll free switchboard numbers to contact McCain's office are 800-965-4701 or 800-828-0498.

Eagles Up!

Great going Tom the Tanc.

This SOOOO needs to be done.

Just remember, if Scarface gets elected president, it is going to be JUST like his campaign.

And like Bush's eight years as well. Conservatives shunted to the side and told to shut up, and the rest of the party intimidated to take him on while liberal policy after liberal policy gets shoved through.

Just because he is a Republican in the White House, so few Republicans will stand up to him internally on Immigration. This is the problem when you have a fox in the henhouse like we do in 2008. A trojan horse in your own White House. You cannot battle them because your party has been co-opted. We need more critical mass on this stuff!!!! IMMIGRATION is being swept under the rug in the General Election because of the two amnistia morons who got their party's nominations.

He can start by firing Juan Hernandez, he closest advisor on illegal alien rights.

If he did that, it would send a sign.

But he WILL NOT.

But he WILL NOT.

That's it in a nutshell!

Why should Juan change now - if he hasn't already - he has NO intention of doing so!

Thank you Tancredo for being the rare Republican politician that has a spine left! Keep it up - this man Juan McCain is the worst thing that has ever happened to the Republican party. He MUST step down - NOW - for the good of our nation. As long as people keep broadcasting loud and clear that they will vote for McCain - as a vote against Obama, - as long as these people keep telegraphing the message that they will vote for any slop thing that is cast to us - the party will continue to lose elections and finally, be crushed into oblivion.

Please, people wake up! We must flood every politician's telephone & email - and demand that we will NOT vote for this man. HE MUST STEP DOWN!

“McCain, his campaign and Senate offices need to be flooded with phone calls, emails and letters...”

I doubt it’ll make any difference now. The “comprehensive” reform will come up again whether McCain or Obama wins. Then, Washington will have to be hit with outrage that makes last summer’s outrage look like a calm warm up.

These bought and paid for low-lifes are like addicts returning for one more hit, time and again, on this issue, and the anti-amnesty reps. and senators might be even fewer next time. It’ll take even more next time to knock them away from taking another hit on the crack pipe.

Since “La Raza” appears to be a Racist organization , McCain shouldn’t be there in the first place.

I don’t trust McCain on Immigration.

Tom Tancredo is referancing the “HISPANIC VOICES MEETING” John Mc Cain reception that was reported here first on Freerepublic!

There is a guy from the Republican Hispanic Assembly who is whinning now in Chicago about what I said on Lou Dobbs program this past Friday evening. His whinning will be printed today on www.gopillinois.com

I have been alerted to what RAFAEL RIVADENEIRA said, this is it.......

Rivadeneira posts McCain video clip, blasts Rosanna Pulido
VIDEO CLIP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ceIWuow3DI&watch_response

RAFAEL RIVADENEIRA: Transcript of McCain: “And by the way, in case you didn’t know and many of you don’t know Arizona’s history, in my state Spanish was spoken before English.” My comment: When speaking in Chicago Wednesday to Hispanic leaders, Senator McCain did NOT say that Spanish was the FIRST language spoken in his home state. I attended the event and heard (as well as recorded) him say these words: “In my state Spanish was spoken BEFORE English . . .”. That statement is true and Lou Dobbs should apologize for admonishing the Senator based on Pulido’s false assertions. Pulido has an obvious agenda and has no credibility when it comes to quoting what the Senator said.

This is my reply to Rafael and if you feel like writing RAFAEL and telling him what you think of LA RAZA here is his e-mail!

I don’t expect Tancredo will be addressing the republican convention this year. lol

I wonder if ANY conservatives will be allowed to speak. It will be a touchy situation, they will have to be careful not to allow anyone to give a speech that will contradict McCain. It would almost be a safer bet to invite some democrats to speak during the prime time hours.

McCain is absolutely convinced that conservatives will be forced to vote for him, as we fear that doing otherwise will secure a win for Barry Hussein. It is this contempt for us which allows him to court La Raza and ignore the wishes of the party base. There have been some despicable republicans in my 60 years, but McCain must take the prize. I still don’t know if I can bring myself to vote for him, regardless of the consequences. If we continue to vote for the “lesser of evils”, sooner or later only evils will remain. We may well have reached that point with this years pathetic and dangerous pair of nominees.

Not true. We have kept an amnesty bill from reaching Bush's desk by swamping the congress and senate with phone calls, faxes, e-mails, etc. Bush is no different than McCain on amnesty. We will have to do the same with McCain...that's why voting GOP for congress is so important.

“. Are you planning to break a promise you made in February to postpone all other immigration reform legislation until we have first secured our borders?”

What McCain said was, he would not ask for ‘it’s not amnesty’ until the border governors certify that their borders are secure to their satisfaction. That’s his cover....Arnold, Janet Napalitano, Richardson, Perry....? Are you kidding me, they think the border is secure now!

McCain's stand on amnesty, borders, and voting against the Cronyn amendment is a sell-out of this country.

McCain had Cindy meet with radical Muslim Hashim Thaci. Incredible, but Tom Ridge, the former Homeland Security Secretary became a lobbyist for Albania, collecting at least $480,000. He filed 20 months later than he should have because, he claimed, he had no idea he was required to file as a foreign agent.

Even if McCain manages to beat Obama, with the Congress that we have now and what we will have later, he'll only be able to push through his more liberal agenda(s).

Won't matter who he nominates for the SCOTUS or how he runs the WOT, he'll be at their mercy.

Frankly, he'll be quite happy being able to push his pet projects. Amnesty and Carbon taxes.

I haven't actually voted FOR a candidate for POTUS in over 20 years, although I have voted in every election.

But this year it is different -- I am actually looking at the candidates thinking, "OK, which one is spawn of the Devil and which one is at least human? Which one is going to completely destroy life as we know it, and which one is just going to screw things up in some sort of normal way? Which one is going to get us all killed and which one is going to just get some of us killed?"

I've never felt like voting was this monumental a decision with such dire consequences for getting it wrong, before.
