Two suspects offered jailhouse confessions in the murders of a Garland music studio owner and his friend.
Memorial services were held Monday for Matthew Butler and Stephen Swan. The two were found shot to death outside of Zion Gate Records last Thursday. A bicyclist discovered their bodies near State Street and Glenbrook in the early morning hours of June 19. Police said both men were shot several times.
Monday Demarius Cummings and James Broadnax, the two teens accused of killing the men, talked about what they say happened that night. The two confessions couldn't have been more different - one showing remorse, the other describing the murders with vile, cavalier disregard.
According to authorities the music producers were victims of a random robbery and were killed because they just happened to walk outside.
Cummings confirmed the police theory and said he and Broadnax had a plan to rob someone for money. "We didn't plan to kill them, we just planned to rob them," the 19-year-old said.
According to both the teens Cummings never fired a shot. While professing his innocence of murder Cummings explained what his cousin did that night. "He pulled the pistol out and then opened fire; ya know what I'm saying. He shot the first dude one time and then the second dude, he shot him one time and he fell and then he went back and shot the other dude again."
It was Broadnax who pulled the trigger and later described the killings in graphic detail. Broadnax, who is Cummings cousin, said he just 'did it'. "I don't even think I got a conscious dog," he said.
After explaining the events of the crime, in language too graphic to be published, Broadnax was asked if his crime mattered to him. "Not no more," he responded. "I ain't got no reason to live."
The teenagers both face capital murder charges and are being held in the Dallas County Jail on $1 million bail.
I watched the video. Broadnax is the picture of evil and the other one is trying to pose as a choir boy hoping to avoid the death penalty. Too bad we will have to waste time and money trying them.
At least here in Texas it is a sure thing that these guys will get the needle. UNLESS, someone decides these guys are mentally unstable. If so, they will be on the street in a few years.
These are two of the “incarcerated” black men that Obama is so worried about because there are so many of them in jail.
Gee: Kill two people and you can still vote for Obama before you lose your right to vote as a convicted felon. Then Obamie will try to restore your right to vote. No shit!
Ask Obama whether he favors the death penalty in this case. That should prove to be one daring question.
Anyone available to ask him this at a townhall meeting?
(Wear a cup, if you are a male, because Obama supporters (Ostraps) will kick your balls in for “daring” to have the “audacity” to ask it).
If someone ends every sentence with “you know what I’m saying?”, chances are I do not.
The victims were just typical whites.....
This was black on white, so it can’t be a hate crime.
I hope these animals get the death penalty and are abused in prison until they die.
Dirt-bag losers.

I concur.
The supposed non-gunman doesn’t seem to understand the concept of felony murder. These guys are as dumb as a box of rocks. Terminate with extreme prejudice and all deliberate speed.
“It doesn’t matter to you?”
“Not no mo’”
Well, at least he’s living in the present!

My guess is that these fine human specimens are from Katrina. Yes the gift that keeps on giving. My area is full of them and it has become a crime infested cesspool. Thank you Nawlins.
kerr dog - scared and will bite - put down
Are they Katrina evacuees? We had one last week do just the same.
And of course despite how heinous this crime is it will not make the national news.
I certainly have not heard of it here in Ohio.
Might be a anti-Christian hate crime as well.
Anti-white on some level? Certainly (though listening to this scumbag makes me think he’d pretty much snuff out anyone’s life, really.)
Anti-Christian? Doubtful. Even the most hardened thugs in the hood often give SOME respect to Christian religion, unless they’re Muslim converts and neither of these guys strikes me as that type.
But they were white, so snuffing them out without even HAVING any beef with them, was easy.
Saw it happen frequently in Philly. An Asian or white storeowner? Often shot dead for NO reason, unless one thinks about the dehumanization of non-blacks at the hands of the black underclass (and looking at Jeremiah Wright, upper and middle class as well.)
Prayers up for the Butler and Swan families and all their friends.
Steve Swan was a member of the Texas Border Volunteers.
“Why did you kill everybody in the house?”
“They was home.”
right, swinny...these were two truly nice guys. don’t be surprised if we have an id or two go silent here on fr.
Broadnax should get the needle, definitely. The other guy? I guess my liberalism is starting to show a little. Give him 10 years, not the death penalty.
Wrong! They should take one to New Orleans (i don’t care if they were from there) and the other to south Dallas, and hang both of them. If you watched the vid you know that this is pure evil. I NEVER want to see either on the street or breathing again.
fox news has this on the front page
Feral: the most underused word in the English language.
This is such a tragedy. I used to work with Steve. He was an all-around great guy. I am not a Christian, but Steve was the kind of Christian who tried to lead by example. There was never anything he wouldn’t do for you, or couldn’t fix. He was so smart! It’s so hard to believe he’s gone, and for something so stupid. And Matt, who was Steve’s best friend, leaves behind a 22-year-old wife and two small children. We are all so saddened by this senseless loss. It is obvious that Broadnax meant to kill them, anybody who was just trying to steal a car would have done just that. At least we have his confession. Thank you all for the prayers during this difficult time!
