snip...A 17-year-old French Jew was attacked on Saturday night in Paris, an assault condemned by President Nicolas Sarkozy and said by Jewish organizations to be an act of anti-Semitism.
snip...Police said five youths had been held for questioning, and one police source told Reuters the victim was suffering "serious neurological problems."
snip..."The victim was wearing a kippa and was on his way back home when his attackers, after identifying him as Jewish, started to beat him," the union said.
snip...Two police sources said the attack took place right after a skirmish between two groups of youths, one Jewish and the other of North African origin. They said it was unclear whether Haddad had taken part in the confrontation.
snip...The crime shocked France and raised fears of surging anti-Semitism among French Muslims.

The attackers were from “North Africa?” So are a lot of Jews. Maybe we could try to be more specific.
Sure it did. Let's see if they are shocked enough to do something about it.
Those Mad Dog Methodist yoots, y’know.
I have Jewish friend who is always going on about how wonderful Paris is. He wants to buy a flat, apartment, condo, whatever they call it there and move. When ever I ask him about the anti semitic violence there he just blows it off and says the news reports are all blown out of proportion.
The reason why France continues to have a 'problem' with anti-Semitism is that it continues to treat it with multi-culti kid gloves. For an example, one need look no further than French President Nicolas Sarkozy's 'condemnation' of the attack.Sarkozy issued a statement "renewing total determination to fighting all forms of racism and anti-Semitism."Excuse me, but what was anyone other than Haddad attacked? Was anyone other than a Jew attacked? Then why the multi-culti politically correct statement about "all forms of racism and anti-Semitism" (which reminds me of how Arab countries occasionally condemn terrorism against Israel by condemning "all forms of terrorism including state terrorism" - a meaningless statement if I ever heard one)?
The first time I was in Belleville I was 15 years old, and it was my introduction to Paris. I wondered where all the "French" people were. I went back two years ago and was amazed at the hipster influx in the central part of the neighborhood (a la Williamsburg in Brooklyn), but found that the outer portions had not changed.
good luck with that.
You been to France ? Lucky you. I had to settle for Quebec the same year you went overseas. :-P
Was reading some message boards on Le Figaro today. The most common sentiments were
1. How do we know this was truly anti-semitism?
2. Let the judicial proceedings run their course.
3. Why all the fuss about a Jew? These things happen all the time to all sorts of people.
4. How do we know this isn’t some hoax (sounds like there had been a Tawana Brawley type incident in the past but not sure).
These seem to be the “man in the street” responses as opposed to the official responses.
They are afraid to say Muslim.
Yup, because if they SAY Muslim, then they have to abandon their denial and deal with it. Reminds me of the young Jewish man who was tortured to death last year or so in Paris. “It never happens” unless it happens.
Jews in France need to go into “the Nazis are here” mode and not walk around wearing kippahs. They are targets now.
Wow! Now there’s a thought! If “yoots” were targeting me for a beating because of the way I was dressed, the only time I would wear the target apparel was when I was setting the “yoots” up for an ambush...
That could work.
“fears of surging anti-Semitism” aka, unassilimated Muslim infiltration/immigration.
Stinking amazing. One side can be labeled by its religions — Jewish. But the other side, the perps, just can’t be labeled by the same criteria - Muslim.
I’ve said this several times, and I’ll say it here again. It is heart-wrenching watching the decline and fall of Western Civilization in person in real time. I should right a book so future generations will have knowledge of how Democratic western nations forfeited their freedom and handed their nations over to the invading barbarian hordes.
Who am I kidding — said barbarians will only burn those books.
I grieve for my nation, for the West and for the world.
TROP I’d bet..
Thanks, Coffee200am, for posting this.
I saw an interview today on the French news with the boy’s father. He is still in critical condition. We are praying for his recovery and an end to this violence towards Jewish people.
The French, in general, are very anti-semitic and anti-Israel. In “man in the street” interviews on the news, many questioned how the police could attribute the motive of anti-semitism to this crime. The fact that there was nothing stolen, no apparant motive, and the young man was on his way to a synagogue for Sabbath services didn’t register.
Someone should start an org called “Guns for Jews” with the goal of giving a 9mm handgun + ammo to every “at risk” Jew in the world. Once a few towelhead thugs are shot dead, you will see an end to such attacks.
There are some talented Jewish martial artists out there, but it is long past time when Jewish culture should have embraced the idea that such training should be common.
That is, a typical part of elementary and secondary school should be self defense physical education.
Since there are Jewish communities in many places, it should be done as a cultural change. The idea that it is just part of being Jewish that you know how to defend yourself.
Hopefully, it would take on a life of its own, instilling confidence but not aggression, situational awareness but not paranoia, and the most important concept, that protecting yourself is far better than having to defend yourself.
Thanks Cincinna.

I think you are being a sarcastic in reference to this Reuters report and rightfully so. Anyone who is at all familiar with the antisemitism in France today knows that the antisemitism is coming predominantly from Moslems of North African origin, specifically of Tunisian, Moroccan, and/or Algerian origin.
Of course, the same Reuters that featured the fraud of "Green Helmet Guy" during the Israel-Hezbollah war two years ago is reticent to use the word Moslem or Islamic in their description of the perps here.
