Obama’s Fundraising Hypocrisy: Takes Voters for Idiots
Grizzly Groundswell ^ | http://grizzlygroundswell.com/archives/2808 | Winged Hussar 1683

The following unsolicited bulk E-mail from Obama for America demonstrates Obama’s total contempt for the intelligence of the American voter by claiming that Obama is rejecting Federal election funding out of an idealistic desire to fix a “broken” campaign system. The truth is that his rejection of Federal funding frees him to accept unlimited six figure bundled contributions such as those enumerated below, without any limit on what he can spend to get elected.

Since we announced our decision not to accept taxpayer funds for the general election, tens of thousands of people like you have come forward to declare their independence from a broken system.

This decision frees us to build a movement of millions of people giving whatever they can afford to a campaign that is truly reforming the way our political process works.

What it frees Obama to do is exceed the Federal spending limits that would apply if he accepted Federal money. Perhaps this smart college boy (political science) with the Harvard law degree really does think that those “bitter” small town Pennsylvanians who cling to guns and religion are too stupid to see through this. Of course, character, honesty, and integrity have never been Obama’s strongest points.

But we have our work cut out for us, and we need to grow this movement. Right now, you can declare your independence and help us run a campaign that is funded by the people and for the people.

Right, Barry. Per OpenSecrets.org, here are some of the “people” who are funding your campaign. Ordinary, little people like Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, and Time-Warner giving whatever they can afford through the bundling of six figure contributions from owners, employees, and their family members.

This information won't cost the phony smile and empty suit any votes if it stays at Free Republic. Take it to your Web sites, blogs, and local papers.

Note on bundled contributions; the indicated corporations cannot themselves give money to the candidate, but bundled contributions are entirely legal.

http://www.moresoftmoneyhardlaw.com/updates/lobbying_reform.html?AID=1005 a contribution is "bundled" when a lobbyist has collected it and passed it on, or has raised it for the candidate. Contributions raised and not collected become bundled contributions when the candidate has "tracked" them, keeping the information by which the lobbyist could be credited or recognized for her efforts in bringing in the loot.

A point of importance is that the "bundling" of the contribution, when it has been raised, depends on how the candidate tracks it and not how the lobbyist brought it in. The bill pays no attention to the lobbyist’s methods. If the candidate can trace the contributions received to the efforts or urging of the lobbyist, then the contribution is a bundled one—regardless of whether the lobbyist merely and periodically urged like-minded friends or colleagues to contribute, or more systematically developed and worked a list to meet an overall fundraising goal.

With almost half voting first for Gore then for Kerry, idiocy has its precedent.

Unfortunately, a great percentage of American Voters are indeed Idiots!

They seem to have been un-educated that way!

I’ve got a feeling that once B. Hussein Osama is safely tucked in at the White House, we’re going to be seeing a lot of stories over the next four years about him “giving money back” (to corrupt donors) or “giving the money (received from corrupt donors) to charity.” Watch for it!

I wonder whether the media will be soured enough by Obama’s double cross to cut into their usual preponderantly Democrat leaning coverage, so much as to offset what will be his 2 or 3 -1 advertising spending advantage. For instance, what if they had played Mark Foley story for what is was worth in October ‘06 (which was zero about zero) instead of inflating it into what must have been the equivalent of a $50 million advertising campaign?

Obama’s Fundraising Hypocrisy: Takes Voters for Idiots

Treating voters like idiots hasn't cost Obama anything up to this point. Time will tell whether it will in the end. He does, after all, have one thing really going for him. He is running against a guy who has treated his own base to groin kicks on one major issue after another and likely still will up to the general election.

This really isn't a happy year for voters that care about real issues and look for "real solutions."

By having no limits on his Campaign Financing “The Cult of Obama” will Force the United States to adopt a system of 100% Tax Payer Financed Presidential Elections.

Obama in doing this will Destroy the First Amendment.

more Obama advertising invites, compels, more fact checking. It didn’t work out well for him in PA primary, where his distortions forced back-tracking, specifically if he were unique in refusing money from oil companies, which to his (non-) chagrin had actually been prohibited from giving money to political campaigns for 100 years.

There is a good reason why he takes voters for idiots, though. It’s because anyone who would even consider voting for him has got to be an idiot.
