Saying their son was "silenced" by his teacher for talking about hunting in the classroom, the parents of a fourth-grade student at North Bennington Graded School took their son out of school and have taken their case to the local school board.
Jared Harrington's mother, Wendy Bordwell, and his father, Martin Harrington, removed their son from school with 10 days left in the school year and home-schooled the 10-year-old boy.
"We are aggressively pursuing Jared's right to free speech," Bordwell said.
The couple addressed the local school board Monday night to air their grievance.
Bordwell said in a telephone interview that she believed her son was "singled out" by Kathleen Backus, Jared's teacher, while talking about hunting with a schoolmate.
Bordwell said that, during snack time, Jared was discussing the recent spring turkey hunting season with a classmate when Backus interrupted the conversation, insisting that there be no talk of "killing" in her classroom.
"The breaking point for us, his parents, came when Jared was sharing a conversation during his free period snack time at school. He was talking with a friend about the recent spring 2008 turkey season. Both boys had been out hunting with their dads and Jared was asking his friend where he had gotten his first turkey.
"Jared's teacher covered her ears, trying to block the conversation, and singing 'la la la la.' When asked by another school employee about her odd behavior, the teacher claimed she did not want to hear about the boys and their 'killing.'

I frequently talk to my kids about hunting/fishing. I *go* with some of them, for that matter.
Not to mention, we have several shotgunners trying out for the Jr. Olympic team.
Then again, I do live in S. Georgia...it may have something to do with it.

anyway they would see each other during the day and they both would shout hey sis hey bro like little kids
few days later I asked around at school and found they are not related or anything , so I asked the teacher who is my son usual teacher why would they do a childish thing like that
she said I have no idea but they are young and I suppose not all there
I am waiting to ask the sub teacher when she is in to ask her
what utter odd behaviour by two teachers, who are the children now.

My 10 pointer is above the door of my classroom. Kids bring in pictures to show me what they got. Went to school one day with blood on my pants cuff. Life is great in the Ozarks.

Yet somehow, if the kid was talking about volunteering at an abortionist clinic to support a woman’s right to choooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooose (killing the babies) the lady teacher would’ve been applauding the young man. She’s a f’ing loon.
I lived for some time up in the north east and as my wife says who is from MA (thankfully escaped down south) there will be no more manly mans man in the next generation up in the north east they will be all girlie men.Even the women are becoming more butch and hardly ever wear skirts dresses etc

Or protesting outside a military recruiting center. He would have got extra credit or considering the latest trend with female teachers and students, he would have been invited to her home after school hours.

Really? This father is worried about his son's right to free speech in a *government* school? Really? So?....What about the rest of the First Amendment and government schools?
Unless the parent can homes or privately school their child the government **forces** a child into its indoctrination centers.
*The government orders the child to shut up for nearly all of the government imposed daily confinement.
*The government trashes the parent and child's right to free assembly. In the government school holding pens, it is the government which determines with whom the child will assemble while confined.
* The government **forbids** free exercise of religious belief while the child is confined.
*NO school can be religiously neutral. It is **IMPOSSIBLE**! Either all subjects and policies are centered upon a belief in God, or they are not. Compromise is impossible! Therefore....Government **establishes** the atheistic and secular humanist religious belief, and **trashes** opposing religious belief.
By the way,,,,This parent did not “remove” his child from government school. He is **ransoming** his child. His ransom is to not only to pay for government schools but to also bear the double burden and expense of home schooling. I call it a Freedom of Conscience **TAX**!
Government schools, the First Amendment, and freedom of conscience can not coexist. They are an abomination. Government schools need to be closed, and we must work to privatize universal K-12 education!

Vermont is an interesting place. I spent my early childhood there. In fact, my Dad worked for Argus Press as a pressman(printer). I got my first rifle for Christmas when I was eight years old, a Remington .22 and have fond memories of hunting in the Green Mountains with my Dad before he decided to move the family to California in 1959 in search of a better life.
I Own property in rural Northern Vermont and am currently taking the slow boat (Literally) back home. Despite the extreme liberal dominance of Montpelier and Burlington, rural Vermonters are very conservative and very independent. Everyone has guns and folks pretty much leave each other alone.

Ten to one odds the teacher who wants no talk of killing turkeys is okay with the killing of unborn babies.

Take the time to get a teaching degree and get hired by a system and change things.
Get elected to a school board and make a difference.

The boys are acting more and more female like every generation and the girls are like boys up in the north east.
I moved down south after living up in MA for some time but I can honestly say it was like a freak show living there sometimes.
There was however a woman who was from RI around in my town St Augustine and I had to ask the woman at the shop was that a boy or a girl.

Go to Boston where the yuppie elitist college kids are, the boys are more female looking and act more female than any woman I know.
