Perhaps it is easier to list what is not attacked in this brutal ridiculing of the Catholic faith. The production is called "Jerry Springer--The Opera in Concert" and it will run from June 26-August 3 at the New Stage Collective in Cincinnati. The so-called opera will also be showing at The Studio Theatre in Washington D.C. from July 16-Aug. 10
The American TFP and its America Needs Fatima campaign vehemently protest this production. The TFP is asking its friends and supporters to send their e-protests to both theaters right away. The TFP is also promoting a protest outside the Cincinnati theater on opening night on June 26 from 6-8 p.m.
The American TFP has already been active in protesting this production. Hundreds of people were out for opening night at Carnegie Hall in New York last January. The American TFP’s America Needs Fatima campaign has been asking its supporters to send protest post cards to the Cincinnati theater where workers have already admitted that they have received 14,000 letters from people protesting the show,
The “opera” defies description in detail since it contains so much profanity and blasphemous content. Even the Cincinnati theater recognizes what the “opera” contains what it calls “potentially offensive themes and extensive language.”
Some disturbing examples of what is in the “opera” include:
• The crucifixion is mocked and the Eucharist is trashed
• There is a lady singing “Jerry eleison” (mocking the Mass: Kyrie Eleison)
• Jesus is introduced as “the hypocrite son of the fascist tyrant on high.” He wears a diaper, is fat and effeminate and later admits: “Actually, I am a bit gay.”
• Eve gropes Jesus in a manner too indecent to describe while the Annunciation is described as a rape.
• God is a fat man in a white suit who complains about being blamed for everyone’s problems. He invites Jerry Springer to join Him to “sit in Heaven beside me, hold my hand and guide me.” At the end, Jerry emerges as the true savior of mankind.
The TFP protests such an indecent portrayal and finds objectionable the fact that God and Christ are made to say the most filthy and absurd things. The profanity-laced production considers nothing sacred.
The “opera” has earned its blasphemous reputation. In London, the debut was the subject of a libel suit for defaming Christians. When it was to be aired on the BBC, it drew more than 60,000 complaints.
In face of such insults to the Faith, Catholics cannot remain silent. That is why the TFP is asking friends and supporters to make their voices heard by sending an e-protest which will be forwarded to both theaters automatically. Please attend the public act of reparation at the New Stage Collective in Cincinnati!

Oh please! This is done all the time. (E.g. Allan Sherman: Glory, glory, Harry Lewis) Being Jewish, I guess seeing La Juive with the Jews dressed in black and the Christians in white should send me running from the theater but it just doesn't. It's a story.

Even powerful heads of state--not to mention cowardly so-called "journalists", politicians, et al.--shrink from offending Muslim sensitivities--and cower at the thought of profaning the Islamic sacred.
Nothing could be more exemplary of the difference between Western decadence and Islamic ascendancy.
A hunger and reverence for the sacred is fundamental to human nature. The vast majority of people will not happily tolerate the profaning of the sacred. If Western Civilization in its decadence cannot find to strength and the will to recognize this basic human desire, people in vast numbers will reject it and find something that does.
If Western Civilization fails humanity, humanity will search for something to replace it.
It might be Islam.
Muslims are betting that it will be.
Western decadents will find themselves hoisted with their own petard, and the rest of the world will judge them with profound scorn.
Four things:
1. Much (not all) of modern art is just an exercise in nihilism. The goal is ugliness, destruction, and the degradation of everything. This has so corrupted our culture that there are people who can only "appreciate" ugliness. Because of our cult of ugliness, there is competition to create art that is ever-more degrading.
2. Real art that is creative and inspires takes a lot of hard work and talent. Faux art that is just pornography and hate speech is something any third-rate artist can do. Shock value is favored over talent.
3. They want to blaspheme God because they are people given over to evil and they secretly fear that God actually exists and may someday judge them. Rather than thinking about changing their ways, they throw a temper-tantrum against God. It is best to think about such "art" as a temper-tantrum.
4. Christianity is an easy target. They know that no Christian is likely to respond with violence. The faux artist can pose as being "brave" while insulting Christians. It is like a grown man pretending he is brave and strong for beating up a small child. The faux artist has no interest in defaming Islam, because radical Islamists also hate the West and besides, even mild criticism of Islam is likely to result in violence.
Christians could learn a thing or two from the Islamists. I don't advocate the Islamists' level of violence but I think it is time for Christians to be disruptive and intimidating. Seriously. What if tens of thousands of people blocked the performance hall? What if people sued the government for discrimination for funding art that mocked Christians? How about if 100 people protested by attending the performance and making noise at different times -- every ten minutes someone disrupts the performance?
We are called to be the salt of the earth, and salt rubbed into a wound can cleanse but it is also painful. We are not called to be the sugar of the earth and just sweetly go along with whatever our enemies want.

His (mostly staged) productions on television show that this 'gentleman' is the eipitome of good taste and decency. The shows are a big hit in foreign countries and those viewers believe this represents typical Americans.
It really is too bad that it does, in fact, represent a goodly percentage of the population.
I believe he was well aware of the appropriation of his name and his character does appear in the 'opera.'
This opera is no doubt considered clever by juvenile people.
Anyone who would think this offal clever is a deluded, ninnyhammered, godless, sold-their-soul-to-the-devil lost soul.
