A Massachusetts city is investigating an apparent teenage "pregnancy pact" that has at least 17 high-school girls expecting babies, four times more than last year, including many aged 16 or younger.
A high school health clinic in the city of Gloucester became suspicious after seeing a surge in girls seeking pregnancy tests. Local officials said on Thursday nearly half of those who became pregnant appear to have entered into a pact to have their babies together over the year.
"Some girls seemed more upset when they weren't pregnant than when they were," Gloucester High School principal Joseph Sullivan told Time magazine, which broke news of the pact on its Web site.
Sullivan was not immediately available to comment. But local officials said at least some of the men involved in the pregnancies were in their mid-20s, including one man who appeared to be homeless. Others were boys in the school.
Carolyn Kirk, mayor of the port city 30 miles northeast of Boston, said authorities are looking at whether to pursue statutory rape charges. "We're at the very early stages of wrestling with the complexities of this problem," she said.

why do they want to be pregnant so badly?
Well, the school should be shocked that the safe sex and contraception message didn’t penetrate them. In this case they wanted to get pregnant.
Good luck getting child support from the homeless man recruited for this job.
They should start their own sect so everyone and no one in particular are the parents.
Why?
Well, they get a boy on the hook for child support for 18+ years. They can get up to 50% of his income. Not a bad way to make a living. Then they can hook up with someone else and boost their lifestyle up some more.
If the boy is a deadbeat, well they know Mass. will pick up the tab.
I don’t cosider anything about Mass. shocking there allready numb upthere.
Dumb girls having babies they can’t afford and don’t know how to raise on a dare.
so much for the high quality public education in Massachusetts.
That which you subsidize you get more of.

i dont know why Mass is surprised. Mass. is all about the liberal mystique. No rules. Anyone can do anything they want. Sorta like the 60's hippie movement. Free love for all!
Mass. LIKES the lib way. Now let em wallow in it.
The CPS should go and round up all the babies and dump them in foster homes, like they did to the FLDS people.
The nation that rejects God and his Word becomes a nation of fools.
This is not surprising, but what is surprising is that there are not public-observed abortions in these cases considering this is liberal MA. People in MA don’t know what is happening to this once great country, of which they were instrumental in founding.
LIVING IN THE MATERNITY WARD
Parody of Madonna’s “Material Girl” (Brown/Rans)
Lyrics by M. Spaff Sumsion
Some girls work and some girls flirt and
I think that’s just fine
Other girls like me are pregnant
Nearly all the ti-ime
Say we’re making homes for spirits
That may well be true (so true - so true)
But I think the birth rate’s ‘cause there’s
Not much else to do-oo
‘Cause we are living where we’re eternally bored
So I’m in the maternity ward
You know that we are living where we’re eternally bored
And I’m in the maternity ward
Some girls dance and wear tight pants and
Travel overseas
Some have planned to just expand our
Large posteriti-ees
Some folks ask if my mom’s proud I’m
Here for number nine (or ten - with twins)
Ask her that yourself, she’s in the
Bed right next to mi-ine
‘Cause we are living where we’re eternally bored
So we’re in the maternity ward
You know that we are living where we’re eternally bored
And I’m in the maternity ward
The maternity (The maternity)
The maternity (The maternity)
The maternity (The maternity)
The maternity ward
(Living in the maternity ward) Maternity!
(Living in the maternity ward)
(Living in the maternity ward) Maternity!
(Living in the maternity ward)
No doubt but they must have seen the movie Juno. Who’s going to pay for these fornication trophies? Welcome to change and the new amoral America and this is just the tip of the iceberg.
The single mom is glorified in our society. Dads are optional, MTV said so.
Liberals will never hold these girls accountable.
Why is this so shocking coming from leftist nirvana-land of the Peoples Republic of Massachusettes? The state of legalized Gay marriages and forgetting it’s christian principles. Hows that anything goes socially free expressionalism for children working out up there?
Wonder if they know when to sue their and when to use there?>
I call BS.

I remember seeing that article, but I didn't open it at the time so it wasn't in my history list. I went back and found it though: here it is.
It’s Bush’s fault I’m sure.
Because they're clueless...
I went to hear Tim Russert speak at a Catholic college years ago, and he said the way to avoid poverty is to finish school and get married before having kids...
Future democRATS on welfare?
Lets see, where is this happening? Utah? No. Texas? No.
Taxachutus. Where anything goes and is usually paid for by the people through their taxes.
The only thing surprising about this in a state like Mass which considers sexual relationships to be so incidental that it supports gay marriage and free birth-control to middle school students without parental approval is that there were only seventeen girls involved........
That sex ed sure is working nowadays *sarc*. How ironic that these girls probably were taught all about birth control and condoms and still didn’t use them.
They would have been better off in an abstinance only class.
