FLDS: Fix statements about alleged dangerous sect members
The Salt Lake Tribune ^ | June 17, 2008 | Brooke Adams

Posted on 06/17/2008 8:12:04 PM PDT by Saundra Duffy

A Salt Lake City attorney has asked three Utah officials to "immediately correct" misstatements about FLDS members in profiles provided to Texas authorities. The profiles, given to Texas law enforcement prior to custody hearings for some 450 children from the polygamous sect's YFZ Ranch in Eldorado, were based on "unsubstantiated or from unreliable sources," said Rod Parker, an FLDS spokesman, in a letter distributed today. "As public servants, sworn to serve and protect the citizens, the spreading of slanderous statements such as these jeopardizes the trust of county officials, state officials, law enforcement and government officials of neighboring states, and private citizens," the letter states.

The people of Texas are going to be paying through the nose for this for decades to come.

Rod Parker is a genius.

“Parker sent the letter to Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff, Washington County Attorney Brock Belnap and Washington County Sheriff Kirk Smith.”

If you read the entire article, you will see why many of us FReepers opposed the raid. First of all, the whole thing started as a result of a lie and the lies just keep coming.

It appears State of Utah AG is a little scared. What do you think?

Lawsuit ammo: false imprisonment of adult women, FLDS children suffering from PTSD, a disabled child terrorized, lies about FLDS boys with broken bones and having been molested, the raid itself based on a false report . . . and on and on and on.

And what on earth were Baptist buses doing participating in that raid????!!!! State of TX money going to a Baptist Church and Baptist foster homes. Come on, people!

Warren Jeffs is in jail, was not at the ranch the day of the raid. The case could be made that you have posted kiddie porn on FreeRepublic and like everything else in this case we have no way of knowing if these photos are real or fake.

So many lies have been told and unfortunately you apparently believe them all.

But even if these photos are real, Jeffs is in prison, and there is no reason to round up all of the FLDS children to punish all of the FLDS.

None of the individuals have criminal records or a history of violence, the dossiers note.

So, these dangerous people from FLDS Texas authorities are supposed to 'look out' for don't have a single instance of criminal or violent behavior?

-------

You would think that the powers that be would have figured out that they are not covering their backsides, they're just digging a deeper hole....and they need to STOP digging.

“they're just digging a deeper hole....and they need to STOP digging.”

Yes, they need to stop the witch hunt but don't hold your breath. Unless the FLDS lawyers can stop them, these holier-than-thou bureaucrats will have the FLDS "lynched", including the children.

This just in from today (Wednesday):

Paul Murphy, Shurtleff’s spokesman, said his office had nothing to do with profiles.
“Mr. Parker has accused our office of painting all polygamists with a broad brush and I think he is doing the same thing here by accusing us of making all sorts of false accusations,” Murphy said. As for any other statements from the office, “I would like him to state where we are in error, what needs correcting and to tell the truth about a lot of the questions we still have about the practices within the FLDS Church.”

I (Saundra) find this so very interesting. The spokesperson is acting like a little baby whining and playing the blame game. Parker sent a letter to THREE individuals. These holier-than-thou bureaucrats from everywhere came at the FLDS from all sides and from all angles, even rounding up innocent children at gunpoint. I believe the bureaucrats who masterminded this witchhunt are running scared. The FLDS attorney Parker is going to have a field day!

It works this way.  Jeffs is the cult leader.  He makes the rules that the others follow.  He bedded 13-year-old girls and enabled others to do likewise.

The idea that I have posted "kiddie porn" on FR is laughable and shows how ignorant logic rules many FReeper lives (unfortunately).

Yes, Dan, the photos are fake but the story is true.

Notice how you are the bad guy, just for posting that pic. I can’t see it but I assume it is the one of Jeffs frenchkissing a 12 year old girl.

The Molester Defenders don’t like evidence.

Honestly he has never been charged nor has he been accused of the crime you allege. He was charged with facilitating a marriage for someone else that was outside the bounds of laws on marriage. His other charges, most of them dropped, had nothing to do with him bedding 13 year olds either. He is more or less not a factor and will be in prison for quite awhile.

Say what?  J'accuse! The preponderance of evidence and the photos - http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2008/0527081flds1.html - are sufficient to make the allegation.  (FR isn't a court of law.)

He is more or less not a factor and will be in prison for quite awhile.

Just because a cult leader goes to jail doesn't mean he loses his power over the cult.  Jeffs is not only a factor -- he rules the molester mob.
