Here's the next chapter in BOR's war against big oil and the evil "speculators". In a discussion about oil with Karl Rove, BOR said we don't need corn. Karl compared the oil market to other commodities, basically saying the oil market works the same way other commodities work: "Look there are 30 commodities that trade in the same way you are talking about........ like corn, palm oil, you name it."
BOR didn't like that and said, "but there is a difference between corn, and soy beans, and orange juice, and all these other things. You don't need them, you don't need them!" Then Karl said, "well you need food!!" BOR then said, "well you need food, but you don't need that food."
We all know BOR is pretty clueless, but this takes it to another level.
I saw it.
Rove called him on it but he disagreed
BO is an idiot.
O’Reilly and Rove.
Otherwise known as Pinky and The Brain.
I quit watch O’Reiley long, long ago. I got sick of his mouth and his idea that he is smarter and better than everyone else. I washed my hands of him, then I washed my hands of Flax News also. He is just a loud mouth ass hole.
O’Reilly is insane about oil companies. He’s really undermining any credibility he might have.
I think his father must have got fired from an oil company. Probably because he had a big mouth.
Does BOR know what bread, cereal, bagels, cake, pies, etc. are made of? Flour, grains, yeast? or does he think that stuff falls from the sky and the farmers pick it up every morning?
O’Reilly is a f-ing idiot. Hands down the stupidest man in TV news.
Who is this Bill O’reilly to tell anybody what they “need”?
he should stick to covering bimbos on spring break. and yes, please cover them.
Maybe he is hedging his bets and trying to score points with Barry (middle name must not be mentioned!) Obama.
Gotta love the Irish, O'Riley & O'Bama.
BOR is such a fool, he probably thinks eggs just come from the grocery store. He is annoying because he knows so very little about what he speaks about. He probably thinks corn is only used for tortillas.
He is always mistaken on facts, when cornered he refuses to admit he is a moron and is wrong.
How his show stays at the top is a mystery. I haven’t watched more than a few minutes in the last few years. I really do not blame anyone for not wanting to appear on his stupid show.
..the day he attacked FR—that was it for me...
I saw BO make a fool of himself arguing with Karl Rove. I just mae the comment last night that his show is going way, way downhill and I don’t see myself watching much in the future.
Oh wait! He just plugged a piece on booze and sex teen parties after the break. Evryone better tune in.
BO is a total jackass, it’s painful just waiting for him to say something stupid, which is guaranteed in every discussion.
I think that there is some underlying problem here that makes him deny that he was wrong, even after opponents in debates have let him reduce the argument to the absurd.
That is a common debating ploy, and one I have used to great effect.
When you see that your opponent is going to counterpoint everything that you say, you start reducing the subject to lower and lower levels of common sense and just let your opponent go for it.
Works like a charm, but the old Miami college professor, Bill, should certainly see the problem that he is displaying here
Oreilly’s rant on this was the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard him say, and that’s really saying something.
LOL!!
Apparently Bill has no CLUE how much corn is used, other than in flakes. Let’s see now, soft drinks, cattle and chicken feed, corn starch (that goes into everything from paper to adhesives) and a huge number of processed foods have some kind of corn product in them.
Any more questions, Bill?
On the other hand, this is part of a pattern with Bill O; he seems to often have a beef with big business in general.
That said, he has been behaving of late as though he is trying to appease Barry on some issues. My main objection to O’Reilly is that his show becomes Yellavision as he blathers and talks over his guests. It is all about Bill and guests are just accessories.
Hear, hear, Ill drink to that! Stopped watching this idiot several years ago. The guy is stuck on stupid.
Dunno..I think if Congress voted tomorrow that all restrictions on energy production: oil, coal, nuclear were lifted, oil would drop to 20 dollars a barrel whether we recovered a drop of oil or not.
All this blah blah blah about futures speculation can only exist in a high demand, low supply market.
Must be the O thing.
OReily
Olberman
Obama
In other words, let them eat cake?
sheesh
Was that a debating tactic to totally talk over your guest—he wouldn’t let Karl get a word in edgewise! And last night while trying to answer Colmes on the energy issue, Karl had to compete with the split screen with live audio of the Algore endorsement. Karl has the patience of a saint.
Well said- and your last sentence is word for word how my hubby describes him.
O’Reilly was a teacher. That means he has a big mouth and a tiny brain.
Excellent piece on the speculative component of current crude prices and some background on some of the reasons we are in this predicament.
However, it bears repeating, if the US would develop its own domestic sources, thereby reducing reliance on imported crude, then we could fully divorce ourselves from the foreign exchange(s), again.

I agree...it’s like he has to be MAD at someone. This week it’s the “speculators!” Why doesn’t he blast his pal Barry about wanting to fight the WOT using Winnie the Pooh? I watch the Factor every night but lately have been turning it off after the first two segments because my head starts to pound.
>Karl had to compete with the split screen with live audio of the Algore endorsement. Karl has the patience of a saint.
And so, who then came out looking smarter and more refined?
You are putting your finger on what is probably the underlying problem of late with old Bill...
Well said! I emailed his show with a statement similar to yours..... I just said he was, well, dumb for saying what he said.
Check out this video of a younger O'Reilly (with hair) having a meltdown when he was on Inside Edition. Hilarious.
(bad language warning)
Granted, BOR has morphed into a gasbag, for the most part. But, in this case, he was noting that there are alternative food sources, where there are no real alternatives to oil. You can avoid orange juice, if you wish. You can avoid pork or beef if the speculative markets drive prices out of sight, or replace them with fish and poultry, for example. If corn futures jump out of sight, you can switch to alternatives to corn oil, stop buying corn flakes in favor of rice krispies, and dump corn chips in favor or potato chips. You get the idea.
But...the vast majority of us can’t switch to an alternative for gasoline...
Go ahead and malign the guy, but at least be intellectually honest about it.
PINHEADS!!!
Been hearing this stoory on the radio over the last week:
‘Petroleum, Not Corn is the Chief Cause of Food Inflation’
http://www.acga.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=88&Itemid=29
Give it a break.
1, substituting those other foodstuffs for everything touched by corn would cause the price of said commodity to skyrocket into the ozone.
2, There aren't enough of said commodities in the entire world to cover that huge new demand and in fact, people need to eat.
We do not need oil to survive. Only to prosper.
Are you serious?!?
Wait, before I go any further, let me say I think you’re joking. You can’t be serious!
BWAHAHAHAHAH! If saying he was dumb for saying what he said was pithy, then I pass the test! HEHE :-D
BINGO!!
I agree that BO is an idiot. Are you referring to Bill O’Reilly or Barack O’Bama? I agree in either case.
