HAVANA (CBS4) ― Eight years after a headline making international custody fight which ended with his return to his father in Cuba, Elian Gonzalez has joined Cuba's Young Communist Union.

In an article in Cuba's communist youth newspaper, Juventud Rebelde, the 14-year old Gonzalez said he would never let ex-President Fidel Castro and his brother Raul Castro down. He joined more than 18-thousand others who joined the group on Saturday.

In 2000, Gonzalez' mother was killed when a boat carrying them to the U.S. capsized in the Florida Straits. Elian, who was 6 years old at the time..........."

Yes, this was a Clintoid operation, but many Republicans also favored returning the child to “his father”. The American people had no more compassion for little Elian than they did for poor Terri Schiavo. So where is the “compassionate conservatism” we were promised?

Neither will Bill Clinton, Janet Reno, NYT, WP, CBS, NBC, ABC, LA Times, DNC, and 90% of Hollywood.

This must be killing his FL relatives. They had a chance to save this child.

Now the child is swearing not to “let down” a vicious old tyrant who is probably now senile or dead.

Besides Lippert, the core Obama group consists of three people who worked in President Bill Clinton's administration: former National Security Adviser Anthony Lake and former senior State Department officials Susan Rice and Gregory Craig. They meet regularly in Washington. Lake was the NSA adviser during Clinton's first term. Rice was the senior adviser on national security affairs for the Kerry-Edwards campaign in 2004, an assistant secretary of state for African affairs and a special assistant to the president at the National Security Council at the Clinton White House.

Craig -- quarterback of Clinton's impeachment defense team -- was director of policy and planning at the State Department under former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. In 2000, Craig was at the center of the fight over Elian Gonzalez, representing the Cuban youth's father in his custody fight. Craig met Obama in 2003 at a fund-raiser for his Senate bid at the home of Washington powerbroker Vernon Jordan.

Team Obama!

Elian’s “Father” — Fidel is so proud.
And so is Bill Clinton.

It’s not a surprise after 8 years of indoctrination. Or even if by a miracle the indoctrination didn’t take, Elian knows that as a “Castro prize” he has no choice, but do what he is told.

I was looking for pictured of this “great event” but couldn’t find any.

I think that parents, not states, have primary custody of a minor, with an exception when parental custody would endanger the minor in some sufficiently grave way. I don’t know that the threat of communist indoctrination should be enough to usurp parental rights.

Thank you, Greg Craig, Castro & Clinton’s personal attorney.

Greg Craig, a Washington attorney (Clinton impeachment) and senior foreign policy advisor to Barack Obama.

He defended John Hinkley, Jr. after the latter’s attempt to assassinate President Ronald Reagan. He defended former Bolivian Defense Minister Carlos Sanchez-Berzain, a human rights violator accused of 67 deaths. He was a “personal attorney” for Kofi Annan in the UN Oil for Food scandal and he provided “special counsel” to Bill Clinton during his impeachment trial. Currently, high powered attorney Greg Craig of the DC-based Williams and Connolly law firm, is defending Pedro Miguel Gonzales, President of the Panamanian legislature, accused of murdering U.S. Army Sgt. Zak Hernandez.

Craig has represented a supporter of the Manuel Noriega dictatorship, former Panamanian President Ernesto Perez Balladares, when he was banned from US travel. And Canadian Newspaper Mogul Lord Conrad Black, who was recently convicted of fraud and obstruction of justice, relied on Craig’s slimy defense tactics as well.

Greg Craig, former director of the Policy Planning Office, U.S. State Department under Bill & Hillary Clinton.

The "undocumented children" you speak of are Mexicans etc - people who vote dems. No one in the MSM wants them to go home - nope, they can stay and become citizens.

Little Elian Gonzalez might have grown up to be a Republican. The fact that his mother died to get him here didn't sway the "oh so normally accepting" liberals.

He’s only 14 and this is a rite of passage in that hellhole called Cuba.

The Castro brothers will soon go the way of all flesh, and a new day will dawn there.

Freedom will come.

I signed up on FR after seeing the terrified look on that poor little boy’s face as Clinton’s goons stormed that house.

How I hated the Clintons and their devil-dogs then, and I hate them worse now.

What baffles and saddens me is that so many people on this site have apparently forgotten the literally dozens of brazen illegalities (not to mention the overall stench) this Clinton administration subjected this country to—and just how imperative it is that the Clinton machine be DESTROYED first and foremost. Destroyed even BEFORE Obama. (Blasphemy in these upside-down days on my beloved FR, I know...)

But the Clintons live politically still, and will NEVER surrender, not then, not last month, not now, not ever... As can be seen, the Clintons tentacles are already infecting the IMO fatally-flawed democrat nominee.

The Craigs and other evil Clinton minions aren’t sabotaging Obama’s campaign for any reason other than to allow the evil cow Hillary to return and rescue the democrat party when she decides the time is right.

Then the very same Clintons can ooze their decaying flesh back into the WH.

She’s got us where she wants us, because it is clear Obama will self-destruct (with the help and aegis of many conservatives, ironically enough...) and now she’s all but forgotten, with so many believing she’s now a mere footnote in American history...

If we allow that to happen, then let’s prepare to hear the words “Welcome back, Madame and Mr. President Clinton!”

HOLY BLEEP! (And by the way, laugh at me or riducule me all you want at my continued raving against Bill and Hillary. I will never be rope-a-doped by them again.)

No argument here on the Clintons. Hillary is not out—she will be the Dem nominee by the convention in Denver. Anyone counting her out just doesn’t understand their tenancity and ruthlessness.

The raid with Elian happened on a Saturday night. On Sunday morning, Bill CLinton gave a short presser. He announced what happened and this evil grin came over him and he had to turn away because he couldn;t stop smirking.

He had just enabled a six year old boy to be given back to a dictator after he mother died in an attempt to reach freedom here. The President and the AG completey short-circuited the legal process which was playing out in immigration court.

More than even Jimmah Carter, I loathe the Sink Emperor and the Lampthrower.

I always figured Jimmah was just an ordinary garden-variety inept moonbat—kind of Jerry Brownish but with less credibility (if that were possible.)

But the Clintons are pure intentional evil, and as you say entirely ruthless. Further, they are without a humiliation gene and will do whatever it takes to return—with absolutely no options off the table.

I read an excerpt from a book George Stephanopoulos wrote shortly after the Clintons left office. It was so chilling and so very telling of the evil that Clinton embodies. And I recall George wrote it without a touch of irony or amazement.

He wrote to the effect that when Clinton was briefed directly following the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, Clinton smiled broadly and beamed that this was going to be the best day of his presidency and the antidote for the hatred so many were feeling for Clinton in those early days. Clinton said it was time to pull out the “father figure” character and soothe the country’s pain... And George wrote that Clinton knew at that moment he’d be re-elected.

God help me I do hate the Clintons so...

I don’t know that the threat of communist indoctrination should be enough to usurp parental rights.

In a very real way, communist indoctrination itself usurps parental rights. It places the State over the parents arbitrarily. it certainly usurps the notion that we are children of a God (our divine parent) whose laws are supreme over man's laws.

Keeping a child away from its only parent because of our judgment of the parent’s society places human judgment over God’s.

God wants children to be with their parents.

Last I checked, Colossians 3:2 did not say “Children, be obedient to your parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing to the Lord, unless you all happened to be born in some bad Godless country like Cuba.”

Wrong on many levels in this particular case.

To keep it short, the father knew Elian was being taken to America. He didn’t object at all. He only changed his tune when Castro made him a sock puppet for his regime. The father did not take care of Elian.

Thousands of people leave Cuba every year and Castro doesn’t want them back. He chose to make Elian a cause celebre. And Clinton and Reno obliged him.

Also in Cuba the State owns all the children, not their natural parents.

And no, God doesn’t want innocent children owned by a Godless Communist State.

I think that if a child’s father, in general, wants to start exercising his parental rights - even if he never has - that shouldn’t be obstructed unless that would pose an obvious threat to the child’s safety. Otherwise, a parent should always take precedence over more distant relatives.

Elian’s relatives did not have legal standing to file for asylum on his behalf.

The state must not interfere with parental control of children’s lives even when it regards it as morally destructive, unless they can actually prove some kind of grave threat.

I don’t think that the house should have been stormed though. They should have waited them out.

Anyway, we should all be happy that the incident happened as it did. The Cubans in Miami agreed with you. Pres. Gore might be living in the White House today if Clinton hadn’t allowed Elian to be sent back.

The point is the parent that was left was not in control. The father had even expressed a wish to come to America to be with Elian, then Castro put his foot down.

The legal standing of Elian was being played out in Federal Court, and that legal judicial process was cut short by Clinton and his toadies.

The State in Cuba said it had absolute right over Elian, even to the exclusion of the father. And the father wished to keep breathing, so he played his part in the script.

And no, I will never be happy with the way that it played out. It was a tragedy for Elian, for his American family, for the father and for this country.

But hey, Fidel had a field day! And Clinton, well, we may never know what he received for his duplicity.
