Black Conservatives Weigh Voting For Obama (J.C. Watts)
CNN ^ | 6/14/08 | AP

Posted on 06/14/2008 12:56:43 PM PDT by Fargo Rock

WASHINGTON (AP) — Black conservative talk show host Armstrong Williams has never voted for a Democrat for president. That could change this year with Barack Obama as the Democratic Party's nominee.

"I don't necessarily like his policies; I don't like much that he advocates, but for the first time in my life, history thrusts me to really seriously think about it," Williams said. "I can honestly say I have no idea who I'm going to pull that lever for in November. And to me, that's incredible."

Just as Obama has touched black Democratic voters, he has engendered conflicting emotions among black Republicans.

Hmm, if you vote someone just because they’re the same race as you, doesn’t that make you a racist?

At least the pinheads in the liberal “media” have begun to recognize that there actually are black conservatives and are starting to finally give them some ink. It’s a first step I guess. Up until now, the whiteys in the liberal “media” referred to them as Uncle Toms. Now they are black conservatives. How nice.

I wonder if Sean Hannity knows this?

I've wondered why when Watts is on Sean's show, he seems very reluctant to criticize Obama in any way. I wondered if he was really leaning in his direction.

Well, I guess race trumps principles after all.

Yep.

I've always felt that single-issue voters are kind of stupid, but if somebody's single issue for this campaign is to make history by electing the country's first 50%-black president, they've crossed over the line into suicidal lunacy.

Moron's are going to join forces with the democrats to destroy us all. :(

This is making me ill. How many whites who have tried not to be bigoted or racists will stop trying, if B Hussein Obama gets 90+ percent of the black vote?

What is the point of trying to be fair when you are going to be screwed just because you are white, hispanic or Asian?

BARF ALERT!

Saturday, June 14, 2008
Stunner: J. C. Watts Considers Obama

From The Associated Press ~ J.C. Watts, a former Oklahoma congressman who once was part of the Republican House leadership, said he is thinking of voting for Democrat Barack Obama.

Watts said he is still a Republican, but he criticizes his party for neglecting the black community. Black Republicans, he said, have to concede that while they might not agree with Democrats on issues, at least that party reaches out to them.

“And Obama highlights that even more,” Watts said, adding that he expects Obama to take on issues such as poverty and urban policy. “Republicans often seem indifferent to those things.”

Some of us have been trying to tell people that JC Watts is not even close to what he pretended to be especially in his personal life. He backed a Dem for Corporation Commissioner in the last election in OK. Corp Commissioner Bob Anthony can now go around saying “I Told YOU So!” but he has too much class to do that.

The RNC and NRCC could care less about any of outside the beltway which is why we need to support candidates directly and ignore those two organizations. NRSC has done a much better job ensuring our Senate candidates have huge war chests.

Was doing research for a new group about to be announced and discovered NRCC is giving $98 to candidates. Give me a break!

I guess it makes no difference if one is a Marxist enemy of capitalism. All it matters is the suit you wear, the looks of your smile and the color of your skin. It looks as if the easy road to being an elected candidate is to get a skin color alteration and go as a black. Is this how cross-dressing got started?

Changed my mind two years ago when he came out and supported a Democrat and he started doing infomercials plus learned about his personal background which I was shocked.

I haven’t supported him since the 2006 and if you looked at my posts you would have seen me on threads saying you don’t want him for VP.

The Republican Party has tried many times to reach out to Blacks, and every time they get slapped down by the so-called Black leaders and Black organizations, and Blacks continue to vote overwhelmingly for Dems. Sorry, I have close Black conservative Christian friends, who even asked me to counsel their youngest son for several months, but this news makes me ill.

I would love to vote for Margaret Thatcher, so I'm not sexist. I would love to vote for Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Shelby Steele, or Ken Blackwell, so I'm not a racist. Principles should determine our vote. Racism or sexism is not a conservative problem, however it is a liberal obsession.

No, it’s just that conservatives don’t believe that handouts will solve problems that were in large part generated by handouts. If the government is in any way responsible for the breakdown of the black family and culture it is because the governement has become the new messiah. Demanding the excising of Judeo-Christian principles and their basis from every aspect of the public square in exchange for financial considerations. Voting for a new dim-messiah will only exacerbate the problem.

I’ve presently lost any hope I held out for Watts.

There are many conservatives who are phony, thinking of so
called Christians who support abortion and homosexuality. The idea that a black conservative would go against his values and beliefs because of a black candidate running for President,is a hypocrite. Obama is not just a black candidate running for president,he is the most liberal senator in this country. That is why I would never vote for him,not because he is black. Personally I wish we had a conservative black candidate to run on the GOP ticket instead of McCain. Racism is very much alive in this country and contrary to what the msm says that it is all about whites,it seems we have racism openly among blacks. This is another case for people trying to be PC and not what is best for the country.

Come on Armstrong, buck up! BHO is a con artist. Don't fall for him. I am white and I would consider it a privilege to vote for former Lt. Gov. Steel. I won't give BHO the time of day. Save your vote for a decent man like Steel. You will be far more proud of yourself afterwords I guarantee it.

Michael Steele, the Republican former lieutenant governor of Maryland who lost a Senate race there in 2006, said he is proud of Obama as a black man, but that "come November, I will do everything in my power to defeat him." Electing Obama, he said, would not automatically solve the woes of the black community.

"I think people who try to put this sort of messianic mantle on Barack's nomination are a little bit misguided," he said.

Well at least Steele gets it.

I feel absolutely betrayed by Watts and Williams. I think both spoke at CPAC more than once and said they stood with us. Both have supported a strong defense, low taxes, personal freedom, and the right to life. Now just because Obama is half black they are going to vote for him? He is diametrically opposed to them on just about every issue. What kind of principles do these men have??

This is such an extraordinary season because it's so difficult to care if McCain wins or loses. The thing of it is is there are so few black conservatives that it just doesn't matter if every one votes for Obama or McCain.

If Rush Limbaugh minions can't carry an election, the 5% to 10% of blacks who are conservative or even moderate aren't going to do the job.

I would like to ask Mr. Williams what would cause him to vote for someone who has gushed over policies that have destroyed the black subculture as effectively as the institution of slavery.
