‘I would have killed Hitler,’ says Jolie (and she's not a Democrat)

The United Nations, a body devoted to peaceful resolutions to conflict across the world, may regret appointing the actress Angelina Jolie as one of its Goodwill Ambassadors. In an interview in the current issue of Entertainment Weekly to promote her latest film Wanted, in which she plays a hired killer, she says that she advocates political assassination in extreme cases, a complete no-no as far as the UN is concerned.
"I am a strong believer that without justice there is no peace," she says. "I'm somebody who's very curious about the International Criminal Court and supportive of following through on the arrest warrants in Darfur."
But then she lets rip: "The idea behind Wanted is not that she's a badass assassin that just likes to kill people. It's that, if you ran into Hitler before he did everything, and you knew, should you shoot him? And I would."
Jolie, who is pregnant with twins by Brad Pitt, also discusses Clint Eastwood, who has directed her in his latest movie, Changeling, and in particular his politics. "Actually, we don't disagree as much as you'd think," she said. "I think people assume I'm a Democrat. But I'm registered independent and I'm still undecided. So I'm looking at McCain as well as Obama. Clint can teach me about things domestically and I'm more aware of some things internationally. So (our conversations were) less a debate and more things we found interesting."

I will give her this much. Shes groping for the right answer...shes just not there yet.I agree. I know in the beginning when she was still a new face, she acted wierd and immature, but she's changed and she seems like one of the sincere ones which are few and far between in Hollywood. Wish i knew what her problem with her father was. I like Jon Voights acting and hope he isn't a bad person.

How would you "know" if it was "before he did everything"?

"Yeah... like it's Star Trek or something" Bad analogy my friend, preemptive action in Iraq is what first set off the left on its tirade of Bush hatred. It is about heading off evil at the pass, before atrocities are committed.
I think this is what Jolie is hinting at.
Shes just not going to say it directly because that would be bad mojo in Hollywood.

There is hope for her.
You know why?.....she has children! For most people, that is life's wake up call to start using common sense! Good for her!

Complete Fluff. Lets point her at Obama and tell her “This man will kill thousands of innocent people” and see what happens.
Assassination is no joke, and if she is a closet Republican, it would serve her career well to stay quiet about it. And when one says “I’m not sure” I can only imagine how many crickets are in their heads. If you haven’t formed an opinion by now, you’re in a coma.

The problem (as I see it) with shooting Hitler before he did anything, is that Israel probably would not have been formed.
Shooting Hitler before he came to power would have been a very difficult decision for me to make.

I resent the implication in the title that
Hitler was right wing (he was a socialist, and most “progressives” of the time supported his and Mussolini’s policies, pre-genocide),
and that Dems are inherently good and would kill this “evil right winger” for the good of the world.

Her issue with her father from what little I know is that he wasn’t a father to her.
And like a lot of Hollywood folks, he was busy with his own thing.
He’s come out and apologized about it but she’s not all good with it. Or something to that affect where she doesn’t allow him completely into her life
As a result of that relationship, she is well like a typical actress. Nuts.

Yeah but funny, it’s always Hitler who gets the bullet. You never hear them talk about the bigger mass murderers of the 20th century.
I would love to see Stalin and Castro put on the list. Then watch Charlie Rangel’s head explode.

Most libs, if you could actually get an honest answer out of them on the subject, would probably take the “I’d try talking to him first” route.

Here’s a better one.
You can actually get libs to be conflicted on whether Hitler’s practices were “wrong”,
because their Prime Directive and First Commandment is “thou shalt not be judgemental”.
Even lib women who consider themselves wronged by an ex-husband will shortcircuit when you ask them whether they are judging their ex’s behavior as “wrong”.

That’s because Hitler, being a socialist and competing for the same ideological constituency as Stalin,
was cast as “right wing” by the communists, and therefore OK to attack.

I read an interview her father did during which he expressed concern for her mental state. She and BillyBob Thornton were reportedly doing some pretty bizarre things. She was upset that her father had criticized her in public and they quit speaking. I don’t blame her father, she was reportedly involved in some pretty strange (to my mind SICK) stuff.
