Norway's parliament on Wednesday adopted a new marriage law that allows homosexuals to marry and adopt children and permits lesbians to be artificially inseminated.
After a heated debate, the members of parliament adopted the text by a vote of 84 to 41.
The three centre-left coalition parties in power and two opposition parties, the Conservatives and the Liberals, voted largely in favour of the law, while the Christian Democrats and the far-right Progress Party voted against it.
Norway thus became the sixth country in the world to grant homosexuals the right to marry on an equal footing with heterosexuals, according to Norwegian television TV2.

HOWEVER,
I guaran-damn-tee you that my libertarian approach would yield results a lot closer to what conservatives want than ANYTHING conservatives are going to try unsuccessfully to force with measures that make it too easy for the libs to fight.
Speaking from a purely scientific point of view, I can’t understand how reducing genetic diversity in a species can be a good thing. All living things strive to increase their population, whether done consciously or not. Homosexual behavior seems to go against that method of species preservation. Unless this is nature’s way of cleaning up inferior genetic branches.
There lies the liberal conflict...
IF Spielberg preached to the rest of us in Jurassic Park that “nature will find a way”, then how come nature hasn;t rescued the homosexuals from their status in the natural food chain (i.e. biologically)?
Actually, nature is taking care of homosexuals in its own way. Years before AIDS was even heard of, homosexuals suffered from epidemic levels of STDs, Kaposi's sarcoma and a host of other, virulent and very nasty diseases. See the homo-loving book 'And the Band Played On' by, Gary Shilts, I think? Very informative.
Oh, that nature...Actually, I attempted to watch “and the band..” one time. I just couldn;t after the first 10 minutes: too preachy. At least in Rent’, it’s a musical about dying from “the gift” (that’s gay speak).
Not so sure things would shake out as you think they would. Kids these days (and kids are the ones having babies they give up to adoption) are pretty open about the gays. My niece (she’s my touchstone on gay issues) tells me the average wait time for gay couples at adoption agencies in Seattle (where she lives) is far less than for straight couples. Gay couples can expect to wait an average of a couple of months, straights will wait a year or more (or give up waiting and end up adopting overseas). Right now it’s considered cool by a lot of girls to give their kids to gay couples to raise. (Perhaps if only to piss off their own parents). Don’t have any statistics to back this up, just anecdotal evidence.
