Holy Smokes! Vincent Bugliosi Goes Off The Deep End!
The Dennis Miller Show ^

Dennis Miller has Vincent Bugliosi (famous Manson case prosecutor and author of "The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder") on the show today.
Bugliosi has got a MAJOR case of BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome).
Anyone who calls to counter Bugliosi's "arguments" and "evidence" is either a "Bush lover" or a "right-winger".
Oh, man!

I thought Bugliosi was just another guy.
Apparently, I was wrong.

I read his first book Helter Skelter which I thought was very well written...but that was in my pre-political years and I didn’t know he was a stark-raving liberal whack-job.

Vincent Bugliosi jumped the shark decades ago. This is a pathetic attempt to stay in the limelight.

Bugliosi is a writer of True Crime Stories, not a very demanding genre if you get my drift. But it has paid him well, so everything he sniffs at has the whiff of cime to it. Combine that with his infantile rage about Bush, and you have the Great Crime of the Century.

The book Helter Skelter was very good. I left the Bugliosi fan club when he excused the OJ jury's verdict and totally blamed the prosecution. He has sounded like a lunatic for very long time.
To: I see my hands
Re#8 Dennis Miller was rather taken aback by the passion Bugliosi had in his hatred for the President. Bugliosi truly has one of the worst cases of BDS I have seen in a while. It really was amazing to listen to...

I read his book "And The Sea Shall Tell" or something similar, can't remember the title off-hand.
He got off a left wing hippie woman who was clearly guilty of murder. Despite his calling himself a conservative several times in the book, it was clear that he was a radical leftist in fact.
I will say the book was very good reading tho.

It's truly a sickness. They reveal their insecurity and paralyzing fear. They must realize how disgusting they are and hope they can convince God that by contrast to W they are undeserving of Hell. But that doesn't assuage their fears so they choke on frustration, screaming louder and louder.

Bugliosi was on one of those 3-hour C-SPAN2 “In Depth” shows recently. I thought he was pretty fascinating. They went over all his books, of which the anti-Bush book was only one. Actually his biggest work appears to be one of the most well-documented books on the Kennedy assassination ever written. He still has an extremely impressive command of facts and demolished a lot of conspiracy theorists on the show. I’m sure the show is still online.

Vince was an excellent prosecutor and I am very very grateful he took a case with very little direct evidence and and incredibly bizarre motive and somehow managed to get one of the most dangerous men alive and his cohorts behind bars.
That being said, while I agree that the prosecution made a boatload of mistakes, (among them, moving the case from Santa Monica to downtown, not playing the tape of the slow-speed chase and calling Al Cowling to the stand and not using testimony from anyone who had sold any part of their story to a magazine), the blame for OJ’s acquittal lies squarely on the shoulders of Judge Ito. He should have NEVER let the Furman [n word] testimony in, and when Cochran called for jury nullification, should have declared a mistrial.
There is no way a competent jury takes four hours to reach a verdict after a four month trial. Of course, their showing up at OJ’s house for the “after” party cinched it for me. Bet they thought they were gonna be OJ’s good buddies for life. I bet he can’t even remember any of their names.
I cannot for the life of me figure out where this came from in Vince - he always seemed to be conservative on most issues. My only thought was that maybe a family member lost a son or daughter in Iraq. This would bear some research.

He's Millerizing Bugliosi. A pretty good job, actually.
I had to turn it off before I arced out.

I read his book "And The Sea Shall Tell" or something similar, can't remember the title off-hand.I believe it was "And the Sea will Tell". I wasn't convinced she was guilty of murder, but surely was an accessory after the fact.
Some other trivia; it was made into a low budget movie on HBO or some other station. How low budget? In the storm scene when they were sailing to Palmyra, the boat was clearly roped to a dock just off camera. Also the guy who was found guilty of murder in the case recently was denied parole (I heard). Palmyra is now off limits to the public as it has been converted into some kind of bird sanctuary or some other research facility.

From the description, it sounds like when he says “Bush Lover” it is with all the hate that bigots use when they say things like “Jew lover” or “N***** lover”.
Where is the love? Where is the tolerance? Where is the unification of the nation?
And do Manson and Bugliosi finally agree on something? Charlie should cheer his victory if so.

One thing I noticed from the book is the evidence was exactly the same against the woman as her boyfriend, yet they convicted him and not her.
Also recall Bugliosi mentioning that the jury foreman telling him some time later that she was in fact guilty. Maybe just enough doubt that they couldn't be certain, and you have to be certain in a murder case.

Maybe Bug-a-boo needs the money. His last book, I think, didn’t sell well. He’s NOT a foreign policy expert, he’s NOT a terrorism expert, and maybe he should just shut up.
How long has his book been out? Is it even selling?
Speaking of which, does anyone know how that twerp McClellan’s book is doing, since nobody’s sticking him on their shows anymore?

It really was amazing to listen to... Wasn't unreal when the soldier from Fort Bragg and the caller right after him (indict Clinton for negligent homicide) had words put in their mouths and were dismissed as Bush lovers and right-wingers?
I couldn't listen any more after that. How disingenuous.

I think Buck Walker was actually recently released from prison. That book has haunted me for years. I reread it from time to time as it's such a compelling story. I believe the woman was part of the cover-up but likely not involved in the murder plan. Bugliosi did some good prosecuting but he has gone off the deep end lately. Too bad.

Definitely deranged. Since when was labeling criticism as "right-wing" an effective legal "retort"?

One thing mentioned in the book which makes me pretty certain she was guilty is several people agreed that she was the leader and he the follower.
Basically sure she planned it and had him carry it out.

Since the OJ Trial people have sought out high profile jury jobs. They get so much money for their books after the fact. The OJ jurors did some real underhanded dealings during the trial. Many juries simply don't care that the person committed a crime. Especially if the perpetrator is a celebrity. I do believe it was jury nullification in the OJ Trial. They flipped the establishment the bird. They didn't realize that OJ couldn't have cared less about them. But they still got the money for their books.

I always remembered him as the famous author.
After this performance, I've changed my thinking on him.
I'm not sure where he's coming from with his murder charges reasoning about Bush. Things don't work that way with the Office of the Presidency - that's one of the reasons Clinton walked when it came to his perjury, tampering and obstruction, blatant though it was.

Lileks mentioned that book in the Bleat this morning. It’s apparently an extremely thorough and well-written argument for Oswald as the Lone Gunman.

I’ve always believed it was the DA who blew the OJ case. The murders should have been separate cases, first a Nicole trial, then a Ron trial.
OJ would be in prison today if those prosecutors weren’t so intent on being movie stars.
