Page 25 of the PDF file at this link lists the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Oregon Dept. of Transportation as a contributors of between $25,000-$49,999 to the Defenders of Wildlife.

That is OUR tax money being paid to a group that sues the very agency that donated to it's cause!

The "donation" to Defenders of Wildlife is nothing compared to NPR, Planned Parenthood and the thousands of other radical groups that make donations to congressmen/senators and wind up with earmarks sent their way.

The Left could not survive without your tax dollars.

This is the kind of thing that makes me boil. The sheer waste of our money is grotesque. The cost of government could be cut to a fifth and it would not effect 5% of our lives other than freeing us from the Atlas like burden.

It's called a "sweetheart suit." FedGov is obligated to fund a settlement in a lawsuit, Congressional discretion does not apply. Thus, the agency has every reason to lose in court in order to obtain the gift that keeps on giving. The judge knows that he knows nothing about the technical aspects of the case and as long as the parties agree, 'What the heck.'

Here's the sad part: The landowners who get the shaft can't get their side heard in the case because the law operates on the premise that "industry is the problem." Thus they don't have standing when it comes to protecting the assets of the natural world.

I have yet to see a SINGLE candidate call for the return of at least SOME of these stolen lands to the States. Except for a very few national parks, these abusive takings should end.
