Wow, I’m not good at boasting, but to be honest, I’m quite proud of our economic growth in recent years.

Russia did that for awhile, too. Right now, you've got the advantage of having a lot of untapped natural resources, no appreciable environmental restaints on your industry, access to modern technology, and still get a "developing nation" preferential treatment in international trade agreements.

What worries me about Tibet is that the glaciers on the Tibetan Plateau provide much of the fresh water for many of the surrounding countries. The rapid industrial development in China has already polluted 70% of the rivers in China. What's going to happen when China's "economic miracle" starts diverting or polluting the drinking water of India and other surrounding countries?

I don’t know much about the present situations of Falun Gongers in the US. Are they stopping hurting themselves and beginning to accept medical treatments when they are ill?

Falungong in US is the same as in China. You really should get to know something before you judge it. Anyway, it doesn’t make sense to hurt someone who enjoy hurting themselves, does it?

You didn’t know religion issues, but you must know the Tian’an Men Massacres 1989, do you? A million fully armed PLAs invaded Tian’an Men Square on June 4th, killing thousands of bare-hand civilians and college students with tanks and guns. What’s your comment on it, is the massacre a necessary move for the majority’s good?

Once there is a saying accusing Roman Empire that “they made a desert and called it peace”. That’s exactly what’s happening in China. This country’s peace and prosperity is built on people’s bones and ashes, the soundless bones and ashes.

Thanks for your advice. I am trying. I'm deeply sorry and sad about those students and civilians. I'm a college student, too. I know getting killed at such an age is a cruel thing. So are those civilians. Of course, true 'human rights' and 'freedom' are good things to follow, but I think those people were chasing after them in a wrong way. Just like what happened on March 14th this year, people were demanding 'freedom' by killings, lootings, and arsons, but not by what they alleged--'peaceful demonstration'. Meanwhile, I noticed several inappropriate dictions in your comments. First, it's not an "invasion". You do not name your own troops marching within your own land "invasion". Second, you do not take civilians and college students equipped with knives, bricks, iron sticks and chains, lime, gasoline can as "bare-hand". Whatever, if I were the leaders then, I would not take such an action towards my people, no matter who were right and who were wrong. "Massacre", what a bloody word! It reminds me of Jewish people being slaughtered by Germans and Nanjing citizens being slaughtered by Japanese during WWⅡ. And now, Communist Party's action is regarded similar with those terrible things. It's a shame...

Actually, I was referring to certain groups of Americans who don’t use the past tense accurately. Hence, an uneducated use of the past tense of ‘to see’ is very prevalent among them.

For instance:
“I seen him take it” when “I saw him take it” would be the correct past tense.

The article I once read [pronounced ‘red’, as this is the past tense use] said that these Americans had trouble with the past tense due to genetics, not just due to their being raised in an uneducated home.

Your statement would indicated that this gene is present in your Chinese population as well as our American population. That is very interesting. But because I am used to hearing incorrect American English spoken here by Americans, I am used to figuring out which tense they mean by the context of what they are saying.

When I fumble around in Spanish, and years ago in French, I had the most difficulty with getting the correct tense of the verbs. Probably it is a common difficulty with all people trying to communicate in a second language.

Periapt, humm, did I use a wrong word? Maybe amulet or protective talisman are better.

I agree with null and void that we would probably call it a "charm" if it referred to some other religion and only if referring to a primitive culture would amulet or talisman be used.

But here when we are talking about a religious item on a necklace, we generally refer to the item by the name the person wearing it uses.

In the U.S. it is fairly common for Christians to wear a cross on a necklace or for Catholics to wear a St. Christopher's medal. The Catholics often have their medals blessed by a priest or other higher authority of their church, while Protestants just buy and wear their cross necklaces without any blessing.

However, do not think that anyone wearing a cross necklace is a religiously devout person. It became a fad, a fashion, about 10 years ago for some people that don't believe in Jesus to wear them, too.

I recall one Chinese saying “Every family cooking pot has a black spot”, which you might prefer to interpret into “Many families have skeletons in the closet”...

Actually, it depends on what you mean to say.

The "black sheep of the family" refers to a member of the family that is an embarrassment to the others.

"Skeleton in the closet" refers to a shameful secret, something that someone did that they are not proud of.

As to someone calling this a Christian website, that is inaccurate. Many posters here are Christians, but some are not.

Recently in the U.S. in the State of Texas, the authorities took 400 children into protective custody because their parents belonged to a religious sect that allows polygamy (more than one wife). The problem was that the authorities believed that many young girls were being forced into polygamous marriages with older men, and were thus being raped by them against their will, at an age when we think a girl is too young to consent.

This was a real mess. Authorities were interfering in private lives and religion, but there was real concern that terrible things were going on.

I am LSS, the boxun journalist released the news.

I was CCP member, and also army engineer in that area years ago.

FLG has the freedom to say anything, and I am not ONE of them.

To be trustworthy is very simple ,asking your government open that area for investigation. I read from official news ,that about 100,000 people has been evacuated from that area, after days of my articles published, for "geographic reason, the unstable earth condition" .I do care what is the real reason, but they did something for our Chinese this time. May God blessing.
