Obama's Radical-Left Ties Broad And Deep

National Review Online: Senator Approves Of The Political-Theological Outlooks Of Michael Pfleger and Jeremiah Wright

Having now left Trinity United Church of Christ, can Barack Obama escape responsibility for his decades-long ties to Michael Pfleger and Jeremiah Wright? No, he cannot. Obama’s connections to the radical-left politics espoused by Pfleger and Wright are broad and deep. The real reason Obama bound himself to Wright and Pfleger in the first place is that he largely approved of their political-theological outlooks.

Obama shared Wright’s rejection of black “assimilation.” Obama also shared Wright’s suspicion of the traditional American ethos of individual self-improvement and the pursuit of “middle-classness.” In common with Wright, Obama had deep misgivings about America’s criminal justice system. And with the exception of their direct attacks on whites, Obama largely approved of his preacher-friends’ fiery rhetoric. Obama’s goal was not to repudiate religious radicalism but to channel its fervor into an effective and permanent activist organization. How do we know all this? We know it because Obama himself has told us.

Long, but a worthwhile read, and surprising from the MSM. Yes, it's National Review, but CBS is publishing it.

The conclusion, for those who won't read it,

MYSTERY SOLVED

So it would appear that Obama’s own writings solve the mystery of why he stayed at Trinity for 20 years. Obama’s long-held and decidedly audacious hope has been to spread Wright’s radical spirit by linking it to a viable, left-leaning political program , with Obama himself at the center. The revolutionizing power of a politically awakened black church is not some side issue, or merely a personal matter, but has been the signature theme of Obama’s grand political strategy.

Lucky for Obama, this political background is unfamiliar to most Americans . There are others who share Obama’s approach, however. Take a look at this piece by Manhattan Institute scholar Steven Malanga on “The Rise Of The Religious Left” and you will see exactly where Obama is coming from. Malanga ends his account by noting that religious-left activists often partner with groups like MoveOn.org and attend gatherings featuring speakers like Michael Moore. After the 2004 election, there was some talk of the Democratic party “purging” MoveOn and Moore. Far from purging its radical Left, however, the Democratic party is now just inches away from placing it in the driver’s seat. That is the real meaning of the fiasco at Trinity Church.

Rush said today--Obama IS that church.

RUSH: Go back to May 3rd, Meet the Press, Tim Russert's show, here is Senator Obama talking about Reverend Wright and Reverend Moss.

OBAMA: He was my pastor, and he built a terrific church. I'm proud of that church. We've got a wonderful young pastor who's there, who's doing, uh -- continuing the terrific work that the church does, and that's my commitment. My commitment are to the values of -- of that church.

RUSH: Thank you, Barack Obama. Democrats have gotta be quaking in their boots. They'll never admit it, but this is just too good.

-—My commitment are to the values of — of that church.

You know, I’ve really, honestly been trying my best to give Barack Obama the benefit of the doubt on all of this, not wanting to believe that a man could get so far as his party’s nomination for president of the United States while harboring such radical views, but that quote pretty much says all a person needs to know, doesn’t it?

The campaign ad pretty much writes itself. All you have to do is superimpose that above quote during one of those crazy pastor sermons on tape, and Obama’s campaign is FINISHED. And rightfully so.

The timing of all this, the Pfleger remark, and the Michelle tape speculation is perfect for her, the primaries are essentially over so she doesn't risk alienating any voters, but Obama hasn't captured enough super delegates to put him over the top. If you want to sow doubt, right now is the time to do it.

Stanly Kurtz is only about 2 years too late!

Obama is a neo colonial Black power nationalist who showed the Kenyan Orange Party " How we do it black American style,"by inserting himself into Kernyan tribal politics by campaigning for Odinga ( Obama's cousin)of the Muslim based Orange Party, segue to August of 2006! When Odinga lost the Kenyan election, it was a replay of the "Bush Cheated" technique, which resulted in thousands of displaced women and children, genocide in Nairobi, including the burning of a church full of Christians by Odinga supporters.

Obama is a loose cannon looking for a deck. And Americans would be stupid to give it to him, for we will suffer as we have never suffered before in the history of the United States. Count on it!

NOBAMA!

It’s difficult to imagine they are so blatantly antiAmerican!

And a review:

By  Kat Bakhu (Albuquerque, NM United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Unholy Alliance: Radical Islam and the American Left (Hardcover)
I had long wondered why people on the Left had the propensity to speak more positively about people who would slit their throats than they do about their own country, which affords them more freedom and opportunity than anywhere else. David Horowitz has answered that question thoroughly and convincingly in his Unholy Alliance. Where I felt bewildered and confused, I now feel crystal clear. Unholy Alliance is such a great book.

It begins with the leftist movements at the beginning of the 20th Century, and works its way up to the present day, exploring the anti-American attitude of these movements in detail. Horowitz shows that the enemies of the US back then are largely the same group today, operating under the same misperceptions, making the same mistakes, and pursuing the same impossible utopia.

Individual chapters are included on the Patriot Act (I was persuaded that it is a GOOD thing); the democratic flip-flop on Iraq once G.W. Bush implemented what they agreed with Clinton needed to be done; the driving components of the current anti-war movement; as well as chapters on individual personalities who are major spokespeople of the Left. Horowitz covers a lot of ground, and he covers it concisely and clearly. Unholy Alliance is richly informative without ever being boring or plodding.

This book is so illuminating that I simply cannot do justice to it here. I love people who reason so clearly that they help me get my own reasoning clear. Horowitz is just that type of person! In the terrain of mindless clichés (no-blood-for-oil, etc.), he is a breath of real fresh air.

I don’t know which concerns me more, the fact that he wants unilateral disarmament, or the fact that 80% (if not more) of the morons in the Democratic Party agree with him.

However, I think that the part that should be obviously ridiculous to EVERYONE on both sides of the isle is when he says he will slow development of future combat systems.

If that is not an admission that he will make the US miliary less capable of defending this country now and in the future than it otherwise could be, I don’t know what is. That should have even the anti-nuke people up in arms. Alas, it won’t.

First, Obama rejects, “the unrealistic politics of integrationist assimilation - which helps a few upwardly mobile blacks to ‘move up, get rich, and move out. . . . ’ ”

Exactly what him and the Rev. Wright have done.

Go to www.usasurvival.org and see the two reports on Obama and Communism/Communist Party in Hawaii and Chicago. It will explain a lot of things about who influenced him throughout his life.

He was raised in a “Marxist-rich environment” and it has greatly influenced the way he thinks.

This is the threat - a stealth Marxist using the cover of religion, race (Michelle is the hitwoman on this topic), and “change” to bring about his own brand of marxism and disaster to America.

According to Freeper Beckwith Obama was not likely "baptized."

*************************************

No, there is no record of Obama being baptized.

There is much confusion surrounding the date of Obama's conversion. Some newspaper reports place this event in 1988. On Fox News, March 14th, 2007, Obama himself places this even in 1992.

Nobody, except Obama knows if his conversion to Christianity is real or not. Although some reports and even Obama have referred to a "baptism", there doesn't appear to be any record of a baptism.

Chicago-based journalist, broadcaster and critic Andy Martin, when asked about Obama's baptism, wrote, "I have never been able to obtain any evidence that he was baptized, although I asked for those records."

It seems that Obama's conversion occurred when he answered one of Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright's altar calls by walking down the aisle of Trinity Church to make a formal commitment of his faith.

Cathleen Falsani, religion columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times, writes, "He (Obama) described his conversion experience in his mid-20s, how he walked the aisle at Trinity United Church of Christ one Sunday in a public affirmation of his private change of heart."

"I came to Christianity through the black church tradition where the line between evangelical and non-evangelical is completely blurred. Nobody knows exactly what it means."

"Does it mean that you feel you've got a personal relationship with Christ the savior? Then that's directly part of the black church experience. Does it mean you're born-again in a classic sense, with all the accoutrements that go along with that, as it's understood by some other tradition? I'm not sure."

"There are aspects of Christian tradition that I'm comfortable with and aspects that I'm not. There are passages of the Bible that make perfect sense to me and others that I go, 'Ya know, I'm not sure about that.'"

"It wasn't an epiphany," he says of that public profession of faith. "It was much more of a gradual process for me. I know there are some people who fall out. Which is wonderful. God bless them.... I think it was just a moment to certify or publicly affirm a growing faith in me."

The specifically political character of his new church is what drew Obama out of his skeptical isolation and into religion. Obama wrote::

"But as the months passed in Chicago, I found myself drawn to the church."

"For one thing, I believed and still believe in the power of African-American religious tradition to spur social change . . . the black church understands in an intimate way the biblical call to feed the hungry and cloth the naked and challenge the powers and principalities . . . I was able to see faith as more than just a comfort to the weary or a hedge against death; it is an active, palpable agent in the world. It is a source of hope."

"It was because of these newfound understandings that I was finally able to walk down the aisle of Trinity United Church of Christ one day and affirm my Christian faith."

In other words, Obama’s membership at Trinity UCC resulted from his familiarity with Wright’s political views. Even Obama’s phrase “challenge the powers and principalities” is a particular favorite of black-liberation theologists.

Falsani warns us that Obama’s walking the aisle at Trinity is poles apart from what Christians commonly refer to as being "saved, transformed or washed in the blood." In other words, it’s not to be confused with what Jesus called being "born again." As Mr. Obama himself explains, "It wasn’t an epiphany … but just a moment to certify or publicly affirm a growing faith in me."

In another account of this event, Manya Brachear, writing in the Chicago Tribune, describes the event thusly: "When Obama sought his own church community, he felt increasingly at home at Trinity. Before leaving for Harvard Law School in 1988, he responded to one of Wright's altar calls and declared a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Falsani wonders, "What kind of faith is it that is growing in Barack Obama? Is it the historic Christian faith? Not according to the good senator, who describes his faith as: (1) Suspicious of dogma (2) Without any monopoly on the truth (3) Nontransferable to others (4) Infused with a big healthy dose of doubt, and (5) Indulgent of and compatible with all other religions."

Unlike traditional Christianity, which Mr. Obama bemoans for its "call to evangelize and proselytize," the good senator’s faith is strictly a personal and private affair. Although he has no qualms about parading it in public in hopes of bolstering his political career, he would never dream of preaching it to others in hopes of converting them to Christ.

At the core of Obama's faith -- whether lapsed Muslim, new Christian or some mixture of the two -- is African nativism. Obama's having pledged allegiance to the Black Value System raises political issues of its own.

(Per Beckwith)

Let's get this straight. Obama knows that his goals and plans are not what the electorate wants so he is required to resign from his church and throw all of his friends and cohorts (including his grandmother) under the bus in pursuit of getting elected.
He needs to deny everything he believes in and everyone who believes in him to get the presidency. Then he will push through his socialist agenda quickly while no one is looking because he knows that the people do not want what he knows is best for them.
We have an elitist who knows he is an elitist insisting that the unwashed masses be required to do what he knows is best for them in spite of their unenlightened opinions to the contrary.
What remains to be learned is whether there is a preponderance of sane and reasonable voters or not.
If Obama is correct a majority of voters will elect him based on his desire to turn everyone into slaves of the state.
How much longer will we toy with catastrophe? Obama makes Hillary look like Churchill. How weird is that?

RUSH: Obama. We were talking about Iraq and the surge, and "it doesn't work," and my brilliant prognostication of a year ago in which I asked: What happens if this all turns around? Do you realize how they've pigeonholed themselves? And after all, folks, we're talking about the United States Military which does not lose (unless the Democrats are in charge) and the Democrats tried to secure defeat but they couldn't, because on this George W. Bush hung tough. Last Friday on PMSNBC (otherwise known as DNCTV) Morning Joe, Obama campaign strategerist David Axelrod was asked by Mike Barnicle, "Do you know whether Senator Obama thinks there's been progress made in Iraq?"

AXELROD: I -- think w-w-what he's -- what he's said is that there's been, uh... I mean he never disputed the fact that if you throw a -- a surge of American soldiers in an area that you can, uh, make a difference.

RUSH: Really? "He never disputed the fact" never? "that if you throw a surge of American soldiers in an area that you can make a difference?" Let's go back to January 14th of 2007, about a year and a half ago, Senator Barack Obama is the guest and says this about more troops in Iraq.

OBAMA: We cannot impose a military solution on what has effectively become a civil war. And until we acknowledge that reality, uh, we can send 15,000 more troop; 20,000 more troops; 30,000 more troops. Uh, I don't know any, uh, expert on the region or any military officer that I've spoken to, uh, privately that believes that that is gonna make a substantial difference on the situation on the ground.

RUSH: He's an idiot. He is a lying idiot! He says he can't find a general who will tell him it worked? Have you ever heard of David Petraeus, who is a general? It is working. A year and a half ago, he is dead wrong. He doesn't know what he's talking about. When he's put on the spot like this, and he doesn't have an answer prewritten that he has mermaid, he is wandering aimlessly in search of a thought. Axelrod said, "Well, of course going to throw soldiers at something, it's going to work." No! Just the opposite. Obama, in his own words: the surge is impossible. We will hold onto this bite, and we will continue to play it at the appropriate strategic times to clearly illustrate: this man knows not at all from what he is saying.

Ya, I know...that will never happen.

Chicago-based journalist, broadcaster and critic Andy Martin, when asked about Obama's baptism, wrote, "I have never been able to obtain any evidence that he was baptized, although I asked for those records."

When that Michelle Obama whitey-hating racist video from T.U. that only a handful of people have seen but all of inner-circle Washington knows about finally gets released...

Presuming it exists, which I hope it does. If Hillary or her friends have it, we'll know this week.

Assuming that it is real, the Clintons don't have it, because if they did it almost certainly would have been released by now.

I believe it is real and I think the Obamas know that the Republicans have it. When he made him "lay off my wife" plea on TV a couple of weeks ago, he wasn't talking to the Clintons, he was definitely talking to the Republicans.

It will be my pleasure.

RUSH: We will hold onto this bite, and we will continue to play it at the appropriate strategic times to clearly illustrate: this man knows not at all from what he is saying.

The supposed videotape of Michelle Obama using racial epithets is beginning to take on the characteristics of an urban legend. If the tape exists, it'll be devastating. But if it doesn't exist, all the speculation about it among Obama's opponents, which can be seen as irresponsible and meanspirited, gains him sympathy points, and possibly votes.

Better to just refrain from comment, and wait and see, IMHO.
