The last I heard, he was on his way to a scheduled meeting with some AQ biggies back in February. That meeting was lit up by one of the Predators and AQ openly admitted the biggie we were after was toast but refused to identify the other “foreigners” who were also toe tagged. Last reports had his buddies in the hood were looking for him and could not locate him after the attack.
Has anyone heard any different or at least that he was found with his motor skills still intact?
It would be better if some bullet would administer the death penalty first. We don’t need a big media circus trial for any of these people.

FBI, SALEM POLICE LOOK FOR TWO MEN INVOLVED IN VIOLENT TAKE-OVER BANK ROBBERY WELLS FARGO OFFERS A REWARD OF UP TO $25,000
FBI Agents and Salem Police Officers are looking for the public’s assistance in identifying two men who robbed the Wells Fargo Bank branch located at 3245 Market Street NE in Salem at about 12:30 p.m. today. Wells Fargo is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
The men walked into the bank, both brandishing handguns, and ordered everyone to the ground. As Suspect #1 jumped over the teller counter, Suspect #2 pulled an employee away from her desk, hitting her in the stomach and throwing her to the ground. That employee was transported to Salem Memorial hospital for evaluation. No further information about her condition is available. Suspect #2 also threw an elderly woman to the ground, but she did not medical attention.
During the course of the robbery, witnesses say both suspects pointed their guns directly at people in the bank. Witnesses say Suspect #1 repeatedly said he would shoot people if they did not respond quickly enough to him. After receiving a sum of cash, the men were seen leaving the bank in an older Chevy Blazer (see description below).
Witnesses describe the men as:

Height: 5’8-5’9”
Wearing: Blue hooded sweatshirt (with the hood over his head), blue jeans, bright white tennis shoes, and a blue bandana with white print on it over his face.
Other: carrying a dark colored backpack,
Suspect #2:
Black man
Age: Late 20’s - early 30’s
Height: 5’10-6’0”
Weight: 180 pounds
Build: Slender
Wearing: Gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, bright white tennis shoes, and blue bandana with white print over his face
Vehicle:
Make: Chevy
Model: S-10 Blazer 2-door
Year: Late 80’s - early 90’s
Color: Black with one larger gray stripe running down the side and with two smaller red pin-striped lines on either side of the gray. The car did not have license plates.
There were ten Wells Fargo employees, one contract employee and four customers in the bank at the time of the robbery.
Agents are investigating whether this robbery may be connected to any others in the region, but as of yet, they have not made any definitive links.
Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to call the Salem Police Department at (503) 588-6050 ext. 7132, the FBI in Salem at (503) 362-6601 during normal business hours or the FBI in Portland at (503) 224-4181 twenty four hours a day.

Islam and seven others are charged with plotting to detonate bombs aboard airliners bound from London to the United States and Canada using explosives concealed in soft drink bottles. Prosecutors say they were close to carrying out their plan when they were arrested in August 2006. The men deny the charges.”

Two Enemy Fighters Killed, Dozens More Detained in Iraq
American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, June 2, 2008 – Coalition forces killed two enemy fighters, detained dozens of terrorism suspects and discovered several weapons caches in Iraq, military officials reported.
Coalition forces used information from a May 15 operation that targeted associates of an al-Qaida in Iraq leader to lead them to areas in central and northern Iraq yesterday and today.
After encountering gunfire, the coalition forces fired back, killing two attackers.
Also during the operations, coalition forces found a car with bomb-making materials and suicide-vest components, and a weapons holding area. The force destroyed the weapons and detained eight suspected terrorists.
In other operations yesterday and today:
— Coalition forces targeted al-Qaida in Iraq senior leaders and their associates in Mosul. A precision operation netted a leader of terrorist finances in the city, and detained 16 additional suspects, 11 of whom are believed to be associated with other al-Qaida in Iraq senior leaders, officials said.
— Coalition forces captured two men wanted for their involvement in bombing networks in Baghdad. One of the men, believed to be an expert in car-bombing tactics, was detained today with another suspect in Taji. The other was detained today in Salman Pak, and allegedly is tied to senior terrorist leaders.
— Coalition forces captured three additional suspected terrorists during two operations in Baghdad.
In operations yesterday:
— Police in Baghdad discovered a cache in an abandoned building during an area reconnaissance mission in the Risalah neighborhood in the Rashid district of Baghdad. The cache contained mortar tubes, rounds, fuses and rockets.
— Iraqi security forces conducted joint raids near Hit, detaining 49 suspects for possible connections with a deadly suicide-bombing attack near the city’s government complex May 30 that killed four Iraqi police, five civilians, and wounded four policemen and 15 civilians, military officials said.
In operations May 31:
— Iraq army and national police continued searching and clearing operations in the Abu Al Khasib district of Basra. The national police detained one suspect and discovered a cache of assault rifles and a sub-machine gun. The operation, which began March 25, continues to bring the surrounding area to normalcy, with infrastructure support missions focusing on canal clearing operations, substation repair and construction and road repairs, officials said.
— Multinational Division Baghdad soldiers captured the No. 2 key suspect in a bomb manufacturing and emplacing cell that operated in Tarmiyah, near Taji, and is responsible for numerous deaths.

ISF, Coalition forces destroy ton of weapons (Karbala)

FORWARD OPERATING BASE KALSU, Iraq – Iraqi Security Forces and Coalition forces destroyed a large weapons cache containing approximately 2,400 pounds of munitions May 28 in Karbala province.
The cache was discovered by a former mayor of Husayniyah, who alerted the Karbala Iraqi Police.
The IPs recovered the cache buried in 11 water storage tanks and various boxes May 20 in Husayniyah.
“It is encouraging to see the (Iraqi Army) and IP finding and recovering these large caches, and we will continue to assist them in the safe destruction of ordnance,” said 1st Lt. Ryan Fisher, 760th Explosive Ordnance Disposal operations officer.
The cache was turned over to the 33rd IA Brigade Military Transition Team to dispose of munitions and exploitable items. The team arrived on-site and inventoried ordnance prior to transporting the munitions to the disposal site.
“In our second cooperative effort with (Maj. Gen.) Ra’ad’s 33rd IA Brigade and Karbala IP, we disposed of nearly 1,500 ordnance items, after having destroyed more than 1,000 items just earlier this month,” Fisher said.
The disposed munitions included more than 1,000 mortars, 25 rockets, 33 blocks of C-4 and various other weapons.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “The car bomb was believed to have contained about 65 pounds of explosives. The blast left a crater about four feet deep and nine feet wide, and damaged the wall of the Danish embassy as well as the offices of the United Nations Development Program.
All of those reported killed appear to be Pakistanis, however one report indicated a foreign national may have also been killed in the blast.
While no terror group has claimed responsibility for the attack, Pakistani intelligence believes Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, an al Qaeda and Taliban linked group, was behind the attack. Lashkar-i-Jhangvi is a splinter group of the Sipah-e-Sahaba (the Army of Mohamed’s companions), a radical Deobandi group that attacks the Shia minority in Pakistan. The US designated Lashkar-i-Jhangvi a Foreign Terrorist Organization in January 2003, while Pakistan banned the outfit in August 2001, just prior to the September 11 attacks on the US.
Lashkar-i-Jhangvi has been behind several high-profile attacks against foreigners in Pakistan. The groups was behind the kidnapping and brutal murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in 2003, and attack on a Pakistani Navy bus that killed 11 French technicians and three Pakistanis and a car bomb attack on the American consulate that killed 12 Pakistanis in 2002.”

The continued use of government-sponsored violence in Zimbabwe, including unwarranted arrests and intimidation of opposition figures, to prevent the Movement for Democratic Change from campaigning freely ahead of the June 27 presidential runoff election is deplorable. We call on the regime to immediately halt all attacks and to permit freedom of assembly, freedom of speech, and access to the media. We urge the Southern African Development Community, the African Union, the United Nations, and other international organizations to blanket the country with election and human rights monitors immediately.
We also are concerned by reports that misguided government policies are projected to result in one of the worst crop harvests in Zimbabwean history. While Robert Mugabe makes political statements in Rome, his people continue to face empty markets at home. The United States currently feeds more than 1 million Zimbabweans and spent more than $170 million on food assistance in Zimbabwe last year. We will continue these efforts to prevent government-induced starvation in Zimbabwe.

This morning someone used a computer in the Toronto Public Library network to send the following email through our contact form, with a Pakistani-ish return address that’s probably fake (so I won’t publish it) and the subject line, “america’s monsters.” Don’t know where he found us or what set off the uncontrolled seething, because there’s no referrer information on this one; either he typed our address in, or the Toronto Library browsers are configured not to send referrers.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Pentagon prosecutors have charged an Afghan prisoner with spying on U.S. troops in Afghanistan and participating in a rocket attack, according to documents released on Monday.
Mohammed Hashim, who has admitted working for the Taliban and al Qaeda, was charged on May 30 with providing material support for terrorism and spying.
According to the Pentagon, Hashim attended al Qaeda training camps and then made himself available to carry out attacks between December 2001 and October 2002.
He conducted reconnaissance missions against American and coalition forces and participated in at least one rocket attack against U.S. troops for al Qaeda, according to the charges.”

ARTICLE SNIPPET: The UN Security Council has unanimously voted to allow countries to send warships into Somalia’s territorial waters to tackle pirates.
The resolution permits countries that have the agreement of Somalia’s interim government to use any means to repress acts of piracy for the next six months.”

The following is a summary of the daily reports broadcast by the IMB’s Piracy Reporting Centre to ships in Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Ocean Regions on the SafetyNET service of Inmarsat-C from 27 May to 2 June 2008.
ALERT
Chittagong anchorage, Bangladesh
The number of attacks has reduced since 2006. However, the area is still listed as a high risk area and mariners are advised to be cautious especially while approaching the anchorage and while at anchor at Chittagong
Nigeria
Violent attacks carried out by pirates on board vessels at anchor and vessel carrying out STS operations. Mariners are advised to exercise extreme caution in these waters.
Suspicious crafts
27.05.2008: 0748 UTC: 14:04.30N-049:23.72E: Gulf of Aden.
A suspicious speedboat, with five persons, was noticed proceeding towards a tanker underway. Master increased speed, took evasive manoeuvres and called the coalition forces. Unable to intercept the vessel, after about forty minutes the boat aborted and moved away. At the same time, another boat was seen crossing the bows at a distance of 3 nm.
28.05.2008: 1200 UTC: 13:43N-048:50E: Gulf of Aden.
Four suspicious high-speed boats, length about 15 meters, wooden/plastic gray hull with four persons in each boat tried to approach a tanker underway. Master took evasive manoeuvres to prevent the speedboats from approaching closer. One speedboat crossed the bow at a distance of 0.5 miles. Later, the boats aborted and moved away in a south-easterly direction.
Recently reported incidents
27.05.2008:0545 LT: offshore Lagos, Nigeria.
Four robbers armed with knives boarded a product tanker at anchor. They lowered a hose into Cargo Tank No. 1 and started to discharge cargo into the boat. Duty crew spotted them and raised the alarm. The robbers threatened the crew. Crew retreated into the accommodation and returned armed with pipes, sticks etc. On seeing the crew armed, the robbers threw their knives towards the crew and jumped overboard. No injuries to crew
28.05.2008: 1040 UTC: 13:09N - 048:58E, Gulf of Aden.
Four heavily armed pirates, in a speedboat, attacked and hijacked a general cargo ship underway. They sailed the vessel into Somali territorial waters. Further details awaited.
