A mother has said she has no regrets about reporting her sons to the police after learning they had brutally attacked a man on a night out.
Carol Saldinack, 51, of Norfolk, said she was so ashamed of their behaviour she could barely look them in the eye.
She said if she had kept quiet that would have made her as guilty as them.
Luke Newman, 27, and Oliver Clark, 24, were jailed for two years for their part in the attack on Marc Parkinson, which left him blind in one eye.
'Piece of meat'
Police praised their mother for her bravery in coming forward, but Mrs Saldinack said she felt she had no option.
In an emotional interview with the BBC, she said it had been a difficult decision but was the "right and decent" thing to do.
"They did what they did to this gentleman and ran away and left him there in a pool of blood... as if he's a piece of meat."

Poor woman. Sounds like it was the right thing to do.
Exemplary to communities or individuals who cry and complain and blame the police when their violent criminal relatives come to unfortunate circumstances related to lead.
Are you kidding? There a couple of relatives I’m thinking about making up crimes for just so I can call the cops. Seriously though, the concept of ‘snitching’ is something that criminals use to enable preying upon others. I teach my son to tell the truth and ‘snitch’ regardless of who it is, even if it’s me.
If I had a moment's hesitation, I'd be ashamed of myself.
In this particular case, what would YOU do if your sons attacked and permanently injured some poor innocent man? I think they deserve more than a time out.

Anyone else notice this? All different last names. I wonder how many “Dads” these guys had over the years.
It would be a hard thing to do. But the parent is responsible for doing so. According to Old Testament, if a child is uncontrollable, the father is to brink him before the community for stoning. (They didn’t have jail back then.)
Tough love. Maybe if mom was tougher sooner, they would not be thugs. Dunno!

Yep. I picked up on that right away also.
Considering that one of them even threatened his mother’s life, it’s pretty safe to assume these are just your standard run-of-the-mill bastard white trash types.
They’ll fit in well in prison.

What happens to mom when they get out?
Bingo! Nevertheless, better late than never. I think in this case, the lady was especially courageous since it sounds like her lads are probably the type that will seek a little payback once they get out.
Considering that guns are a little harder to come by in the UK, I would imagine she will be stabbed or bludgeoned.

“Would you turn in a family member to the police?”
My currnet wife, who was a divorced mom with children, suspected that her teenage son was smoking marijuana before school each morning. She used to drive him to school.
She dropped him off one morning the circled the block. She found him in a friend’s car. Both he and the friend were smoking the god-awful stuff.
She took them to the principal’s office and let him determine their fate.
When I was a child my dad used to say that if I ever got in trouble with the law, “I would help them turn the key to your jail cell.”
