Sen. Barack Obama issued a statement this afternoon after a video tape emerged showing Father Michael Pfleger 'speechifying' from the pulpit of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.
In the statement Obama said he was "deeply disappointed" in Pfleger after his sermon was captured on videotape showing the priest mocking Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and white people from the pulpit of Trinity, the home church of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Sen. Obama.

It was obvious that the “worshippers” in that “church” were anything but offended. With all that cheering and whooping and hollering; it was a disgrace.
I want to hear him give a speech about how he’s going to go after those who abuse tax-exempt status for partisan activism.
How can this “priest” can support someone who is so profoundly anti-life that he would even vote against a bill protecting babies born ALIVE after an attempted abortion ?

We all would like to see him take the pulpit of that church and repudiate all the vitrole that has come from the pulpit.

Pfleger is and has long been a total jerk. BUT, unlike Wright, he had the decency and smarts to apologize for his comments.

By "speechifying" I assume you mean preaching like a West Virginia hillbilly. Apparently it's only stupid when white people do it (unless a white person does it in front of a Black congregation).
I’ve never seen this guy before and it seemed to me this Pfleger was trying to imitate Wright. He was trying to “act Black”.

Just watch the video with a focus on the reaction of the audience and the church heavyweights right behind the pulpit — he wasn’t speaking to some unreceptive audience, they LOVED what he had to say and ate it up with delight. Nearly everyone was standing and waving and raving with delight before he was through. THIS IS Barack Obama’s chosen, preferred, 20-year racist church. There’s no news here except to anyone who has not been paying attention.
It’s not just this minister or that minister or this “mis-statement” or that insensitive remark...... Pfleger (a radical nutcase) is already well known to them, as indicated in the introduction, b/c he is a perfect “race traitor” for whites, spouting the same noxious b.s. as Jeremiah Wright. It’s no wonder they lover Pfleger there, and it’s ridiculous for anyone to let Obambi continue to pretend that any of this is a suprise at all.
Yeah, he’s actually 100% on target about Shrillary so that part of the rant is not offensive, it’s simply accurate.
However, his nonsense about endless “white” privelege and responsiblity for things done by prior generations is crap — but we can see how deeply the assumptions of the “reparations” movement are already embedded in people like Pfleger and the Trinity UCC congregation.
I have to agree with you that he was trying to “act black”. If I’d just heard the video and not seen it I would have thought he was a black preacher, most likely related to Rev. Wrong!

I disagree about the apology bit. He distinctly said he would apologize -IF- his words offended. That is not an apology
This dirtbag had no "decency" or "smarts". He had his ass pinched bigtime after he made these comments. That's why he "apologized".
While the comments were grossly politically incorrect, they were probably spot on.
What bothered me was the audience of drooling morons whistling and cheering their approval. The congregation of that "church" belongs on baboon island.

Personally, I *hope* those dilwads hate me. I would be very uncomfortable with their approval. They are screwed up seven ways from Sunday, and they only thing to be said for them is that they have the the same right to life as every other human.
That said, no, women shouldn’t have the vote, and no, people are not ready to exercise the franchise responsibly at eighteen. As for the poll tax, that has more to do with trying to restrict the franchise to solid citizens than with any “minority” crapola.
I think there should be a poll tax, and that tax should be used to pay the cost of giving prospective voters a 5,000 question test on government, economics, and current events. At least 4,500 correct to receive a ballot...for those who pass the johnson test, of course.

As a Catholic, I can say there are all sorts of priests nowadays.
Most are good and devout men. However, many sign up because as Father Joe, who performed our marriage ceremony, baptized our children, and subsequently quit the priesthood said, “Where else can a homosexual find so many vulnerable, cloistered men than in a seminary?”
Many others take Holy Orders because they can’t do anything else and still others because they must just like the uniform.

Cardinal George transferred Pfleger to another parish a few years ago (he’s pastor of St. Sabina’s) and Pfleger told him to shove it. For that, Pfleger should have been laicized within a week.
I have been told that George has received death threats. No direct connection between Pfleger and the death threats, but Chicago is a cesspool, socially and religiously. Andrew Greeley has famously written about a group of pedophile rapist-murderers among the priests of Chicago. He has NOT called the police with what he knows. He has put the info in a safe place, and made it known that the info will be released if he is ever found dead under suspicious circumstances.
