John McCain, Illegal Aliens, and God
NewsBlaze ^ | May 28, 2008 | John Lillpop

Posted on 05/29/2008 10:49:11 AM PDT by AuntB

From his bag of tricks for converting right-thinking conservatives into Republican leftists, John McCain has injected God, love, and compassion into the non-stop wrangling about amnesty for as many as 38 million illegal aliens.

During a recent debate in St. Petersburg, Florida, McCain said the following, in part:

"We need to sit down as Americans and recognize these are God's children as well. And they need some protection under the law; they need some of our love and compassion."

In other words, Americans who believe in law and order and other right wing foolishness are the problem. A spike of God, love and compassion is needed to overcome this fetish with American sovereignty, rule of law, and other outmoded notions.

As is the case with most liberals, McCain comes down on the side of the criminals, and says to hell with the victims.

Of course, McCain does have a point:

Illegal aliens are God's children.

But so are bank robbers, murderers, rapists, and terrorists.

But illegal aliens are good hearted, hard working people with traditional family values, not bank robbers or terrorists, right?

To which I ask: How in the hell do you know what they are, since none have been subjected to criminal background checks?

Whether they number 12 or 20 or 38 million, the point is that there is a huge population of people from third-world nations who have invaded America and about whom we know nothing!

Advocating a path to citizenship for such people is stupidity at best, treason at worse.

Furthermore, since when did being one of God's children entitle anyone to ignore the borders and immigration laws of another nation? And to steal public services to which they are not entitled?

Despite John McCain's ineloquent attempt to exploit God, love and compassion, the fact is that illegal aliens are criminals who deserve to be prosecuted and deported.

Despite John McCain's ineloquent attempt to exploit God, . . .

So, I guess God's own words regarding acceptance of aliens and treating them with dignity as it is written in the Bible should just be ignored? Is it really exploitation here, or just a fundamental acceptance of the Word of God?

When a leftist pol utters the word “compassion,” I fix in my mind the image of compassion as I interpret it. Then I fix in my mind, right next to compassion, the letters “IRS.”

End of story on government compassion.

I guess people who work and obey the law and pay taxes with the expectation that their money NOT be squandered on schools, hospitals, prosons and “entitlement’ payments to invaders, who seek to give their children the same life our parents gave us, who seek to preserve the country, we’re not God’s children - we’re just SUCKERS who have to bend over and take it from our Beltway masters!

I am sick of this.

I’m glad I’m not a younger man. I’ve seen enough of America’s disintegration as it is.

Give it up..You and John McCain or the USA is NOT God.

God’s own words??

There are plenty of verses that prove you wrong.

A good article on the subject:

Illegal Immigration From A Biblical Point of View
[snip] “To require my government to ignore crime, ask others to do the same and pay to support criminals is unbiblical. Evading personal responsibility is unbiblical. Forcing others to pay for our good intentions is unbiblical. Supporting illegal immigration is unbiblical.

Read Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount”

Exactly.

Disgusting of churches to support illegal aliens. Most parents are trying to teach their children to respect the laws. Yet many churches are sending a terrible message that it is okay to break laws. They even want special perks for lawbreakers. This is perverted.

It is almost like saying, "You break into someone's house, not only do you deserve to remain but the homeowner should provide you with welfare, etc." It is also a slap in the face for immigrants who followed all the rules.

As a sign of our compassion, I suggest we throw open the borders and allow a million people to come in legally every year.

Oh, thats right, we do. Thats what we do already, we allow a million legal immigrants each and every year.

And as a sign of our compassion, we should give Mexico the largest quota out of every country on earth.

Oh, thats right, I’m sure you’ll guess where this is going, we already do.

When we are talking about compassion for the immigrant, I never hear numbers. How many immigrants each year is the optimum number? If a million legal immigrants isn’t the right number, then what is? How would you arrive at that number? Who decides that a million is the right number, and on what basis would someone else decide that, no, thats not the optimum number, I’ve got a better number in mind...?

When news people and pols are bad-mouthing the rest of us as lacking in compassion, I never hear them mention numbers. How many is the right number? How did you arrive at that number? If a million isn’t compassionate enough, how would you measure compassion on your compassion-meter?

The Word also says that the civil authorities don't carry the sword in vain. As individuals, we should treat other individuals with respect. Nothing about that says that a nation shouldn't enforce just laws.

At the present time I do not have my Bible with me. So, I am unable to give chapter and verse at this time. But, later on, when I have my Bible, I will look for the passages from the Old Testament and provide them. But, you could try and find them yourself if you really cared to know what God’s words are on this issue.

THE BIBLE AND THE BORDER: ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION FROM A CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE

[snip]”Many Christians are now caught up in the debate about illegal immigration. Some do not know what to do to stop illegal immigration while at the same time living a faith that asks its believers to practice charity and forgiveness. Other Christians mistakenly believe that groups who are against illegal immigration, groups like the Minuteman Project, are immoral and dangerous. These Christians believe that illegal immigrants should be seen as people who need our assistance and compassion, not our judgment and condemnation.

Does the Bible and Christian theology have anything to add to the illegal immigration debate? Are Christians supposed to act one way or another on this social issue? I think Christianity does have some answers to the moral questions raised by illegal immigration. These answers are to be found both in Christian scripture and theology. In my view it is possible to be both a good Christian and have secure borders. It is also possible to demand illegal immigrants be deported and to practice Christian charity.

In chapter 13 of the apostle Paul’s Letter to the Romans, the English translation reads, “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore he who resists the authorities resists what God has appointed...” (Romans 13:1-2). Clearly, this is advice to Christians to follow the laws of their nation and to respect the laws of other nations.

Coming to the U. S. illegally is not the only choice poor Mexicans can make to improve their lives. They could also choose to stay in Mexico and work to make Mexico a better country. In fact, as good Christians it is their moral obligation to do this. It is better to improve Mexico than to be a criminal in the U. S. Illegal immigration may be the easy way out, but it is not the moral way. Christians are supposed to do what is good, even if the good is difficult to do.

Although Christianity encourages acts of charity, we cannot be both charitable and law breakers. We cannot rob Peter to pay Paul. “

13 “Do not commit murder.

14 “Do not commit adultery.

15 “Do not steal.

16 “Do not give false witness against your neighbor.

17 “Do not long for anything that belongs to your neighbor. Do not long for your neighbor’s house, wife, male or female servant, ox or donkey.”

You can't pick one line out of the bible to support your position and ignore the rest of it.

Nowhere does it tell you to blindly accept criminals into your home and love them, even though they may murder you and your family in your sleep. But you should be weary of them...

"So I will give their wives to other men, their fields to new masters, for all, least no less than greatest, all are out for dishonest gain; prophet no less than priest, all practice fraud." (Jer.8:10).

Alien, or “stranger” from the Bible is one thing. Do not mistreat them, understandable, and very Christian. Enabling lawbreakers, giving up your sovereignty, welcoming an invading army, something entirely different. Pulling similar sounding words out of the Bible to promote an agenda is wrong. Like saying Jesus was homosexual because he loved his followers.

McCain’s an idiot on Biblical matters. The vast majority of people on this planet are NOT children of God. The Bible tells us that ONLY those who have been born again have been adopted into the family of God as joint heirs to the kingdom with the Lord Jesus. Further, Gen 5 shows us that people are not even created in God’s image, as most folk think. After The fall, people have been born in the image and likeness of their Earthly parents; Adam and Eve were created by Him and in His image. Once born again in Christ Jesus - the exact image the most high God - we are created (2 Cor 5:17) in His image.

I’m not of the opinion that we should seek sound theologians for President, but I do think most politicians should speak less and keep it basic and true when they do open their mouth on Christian matters. This goes double for W, who repeatedly has declared Allah of the Koran to be the same as the God of Abraham as revealed in the Bible. Both these guys are nut jobs in their public statements on their faith - as are MOST politicians, as people who want to impress man more than they want to please God.

Let me save you the trouble, SoldierDad, or do you just pick and chose verses to support your McCain’s open border agenda?

John 10:1, Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.”

Then there is this little problem.....

from the 10 commandments

You shall not covet your neighbour’s house; you shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, or male or female slave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbour.

"We must be reading different Bibles. Mine speaks of acceptance of aliens"

" "In their van the fire devours, in their rear a flame consumes. Arrows fly, still they press forward, without breaking ranks. They hurl themselves at the city, they leap onto its walls, climb the housetops and make their way through windows like marauders. "

"As they come on, the earth quakes, the skies tremble, sun and moon grow dark, and the stars lose their brilliance." (Joel 2:1-11).

""Pick your steps over these endless ruins: the enemy have sacked everything in the sanctuary. They roared where your Assemblies used to take place, they stuck their enemy emblems over the entrance, emblems we had never seen before." (Ps.74:1-23).

" "Axes deep in the wood, hacking at the panels, they battered them down with mallet and hatchet; then, God, setting fire to your sanctuary, they profanely razed the house of your name to the ground. Determined to destroy us once and for all, they burned down every shrine of God in the country." (Ps.74:1-23).

" "Deprived of signs, with no prophets left, who can say how long this will last? How much longer, God, is the oppressor to blaspheme? Is the enemy to insult your name forever? Why hold back your hand, why keep your right hand hidden? "

"Remember the enemy's blasphemy, how frenzied people dare to insult your name. Respect the covenant! We can bear no more -- every cave in the country is the scene of violence! Rise God, say something on your behalf, do not forget the madman's day-long blaspheming..." (Ps.74:1-23).

It calls them the enemy in mine. Maybe you are confusing people wanting to come to America to become Americans, adapt to our ways, respect our laws (including the ones which would give them landed immigrant status) with the enemy that wants to destroy us.

Somehow, I just don't get that loving feeling towards those who are here illegally carrying protest signs saying America belongs to them, that WE should leave.

How did expecting visitors to our country to obey our duly enacted humane laws, to refrain from violating our laws both upon their initial entry and throughout the duration of their sojourning in the U. S., become unwelcoming, inhumane treatment?
I expect citizens of foreign lands and their governments to demand the same of me, whenever I choose to visit a foreign nation.

Tell me, what is it that makes those illegal aliens who are coming here just to find work to support their families criminal? Is it simply the fact that they are here, or is it because this nation, which needs the work they do, has been unwilling to deal with this issue and has turned a blind eye to this problem for decades? I am not referring to people who entered this country for the express purpose of committing criminal acts - drug dealers, or those who have fled their home country for committing criminal acts and then come here to continue that behavior. If someone here illegally has a criminal record, or commits a feloneous crime, they, of course, should be deported and never allowed back into this country. Where in any comment I've made on this issue have I stated we need to turn a blind eye to these people?

Just for the record, the first thing that needs to be done is for the border to be closed completely. Second, deport any one who has any criminal record. After that, then lets deal with people in an honest fashion. People who want to come here to work and participate in our country should be provided with a means of doing so in a reasonable way for both this nation and those wishing to come here.

“I wonder how many illegals work for Cindy McCain and John at her beer distributorship and what percentage of Cindy McCain’s customers are illegals.”

They own NINE homes, I wonder how many aliens are housekeepers, groundkeepers, .....

Here’s my biggest problem with McCain. I do not think he sees the USA as HOME like most of us do. He has no attachment like most of us, maybe because of his transient life style his entire life.

He’s never looked at it as ‘home’. He’s never going to ‘get it’.

“I could imagine, with a little envy, what it must have been like for the McCains who came before me to be so connected to one place; to be part of a community”

Interesting statement. May give an indication why he has no special attachment to the sovereignty of this nation and believes illegal aliens have just as much claim to it as the rest of us who are ‘so connected’.

All "bibles" are available online. It would take you all of 2 seconds to look it up. That's what that "google" search engine thingy is for.

Oh, and beware of what "old testament biblical passages you are following. Christians generally follow the NEW testament because it's specific to the NEW covenant. You can't follow both the new and old covenant, nor should you follow Mosaic laws written specifically for Jews living in Israel.

How many ILLEGAL aliens must we accept. There are billions who would like to come here. Are we a sovereign nation with defined borders? Does the rule of law mean anything?

McCain's simple-minded, emotional response is just meant to fool the gullible and ill-informed. We have 12 to 25 million illegal aliens already here. The Border Patrol apprehends annually a million people trying to enter this country thru the southern border and another 500,000 to 1 million make it in to the US successfully. And we bring in another 1.2 million legal immigrants each year. We are being invaded.

Immigrants account for one in 8 U.S. residents, the highest level in 80 years. In 1970 it was one in 21; in 1980 it was one in 16; and in 1990 it was one in 13. In a decade that number will be one in 7 U.S. residents, the highest it has been in our history. And by 2050, one in five residents of the United States will be foreign born. Do you have any comprehension about what is happenng to this country? Its significance?

John 10:1 is appropoe. Use of one of the 10 Commandments is not in this case. People wanting to come here to work and earn money to support their families is nowhere close to coveting. But, lets not forget that this nation is complicite in this issue. Our Government and it’s citizens have turned a blind eye to this problem for decades. We are sowing what we have reaped on this issue by not dealing properly with this in the first place. Those here illegally who came to work and earn money to support their families did not create the system, but are just as much victims of it as legal citizens have been of them. To ignore this is morally wrong. Are you saying that were you to have been born south of the border with the U.S. and your family was starving you would not try and go where you could find work? I sure would. Does this make me an evil person? Your opinion might differ from mine here. What does that say about you as a Christian? Remember, that door that these people didn’t enter here by was closed to them (or actually never existed) not by anything they did, but by this nations approach to this issue - We disallowed a way for legal entry to those looking for work, but then turned our backs on their climbing over the wall because we needed them in our fields to pick our crops. It’s only been the past dozen or so years that the outcry has reached the proportions that it has against these people. Shame on us for being so short-sighted in the first place.

No, I believe the credit goes to God as He’s the one who gave His Word to His people regarding these issues. I just brought the issue to light.

recognize these are God’s children as well. And they need some protection under the law
____________________________________

Yes, well...they already have it..

God’s children are ones who obey God’s laws...

God’s law says..

Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. hebrews 13:7

Appears that there is lots of protection in that law...

Now do the illegal aliens intend to use it to their advantage ????

Do they intend to obey the laws of our sovreign nation ??????????

Ah, noooooooooooooo

Well God said that it is “unprofitable” for them to disobey...

And thus ...unhappy illegal aliens...

Thank me..

“Our Government and it’s citizens have turned a blind eye to this problem for decades. We are sowing what we have reaped on this issue by not dealing properly with this in the first place....Shame on us for being so short-sighted in the first place.”

Oh, balderdash, shame on you! People like you have been preventing people like MOST of us from stopping this problem by promoting our open border candidates as saviors. You take the blame and open your pocketbook. This fiasco, which you support, has already cost my family a million dollars and it’s cost many of us much more. Take your phony Christianity somewhere else.

John 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

Anyone have any photos of “undocumented immigrants” scrambling over our walls?

Don't tell the Chamber of Commerce or the Wall Street Journal or McCain himself, we could probably get some of “God's Children” from Southwest Asia or Sub-Saharan Africa at alot cheaper rate. Of course the oceans are a little tougher swim than the Rio Grande!

No, I have no clue/sarc. Why is it that people insist on misinterpreting what others say on this issue when it doesn’t conform to their narrow view? I’m not for allowing illegal immigration. I’ve stated many times that we need to 1) close the border down completely, 2) deport any/all illegals who have criminal records, 3) develop a fair and comprehensive immigration program which provides for the needs of this nation and those who should be allowed to come here given they merit that privilege. Is there anything in this that you disagree with?
