Celebrating Memorial Weekend With Liberty Goldfish: Week 25 - Westminster, MD 5-24-08

Posted on 05/28/2008 8:11:10 PM PDT by RockerMom2MyHero

Memorial Weekend – A time to remember and honor our fallen heroes who have proudly served their country and bravely defended our freedoms.
Because of their sacrifices, we celebrate this Memorial Weekend. God Bless Our Heroes and the USA!

It was a beautiful spring day with plenty of sunshine. We received our share of beeps, waves and thumbs up. We got one salute and a SEMPER FI shout. A man across the street gave us thumbs up. One lady approached us to tell us we were doing a great job. Two ladies on scooters, who are becoming regulars riding by, gave us some cheerful beeps. It was refreshing to hear a young boy passing in a vehicle with his parent say thank you to us.

I bought a box of Liberty Goldfish for the Memorial Weekend and decided to put it up on one of the concrete posts. An extra patriotic touch to go with our signs and flags. Also came in handy when we got hungry! Inadvertently, I poured goldfish into my hand as a lady was crossing to our side of the street. She asked if we were taking donations. I said no, we were there to Support Our Troops. I displayed the box because of the special theme and happened to be hungry!

A man came up and asked if I thought they should bring the troops home now. I told him I believed that the troops should come home once there is victory. He then told me he was a Vietnam Vet and I thanked him for his service. He talked about what it was like back in the Vietnam era and I said that was why we were Supporting Our Troops. We do not want today’s troops to be treated like they were.

EVERY SATURDAY 1-3pm
Please join us if you can. We especially need extra boots on the corner, on the 2nd and last Saturday of each month, when we counter protest the moonbats. The Westminster Gathering/FReep is located on the east side of E. Main Street opposite the library at 50 East Main Street. There is public parking on Winters Street. Follow the signs.

The profound truth of this picture brings tears to my eyes.

Thanks for you weekly efforts on behalf of your son and all the men and women who protect our God given freedoms.

Thank you for your kind words. I need to clarify a bit on my son's sign. The brother who Chris is referring to is PatrioticMarineMom's son. They are not brothers biologically, but they have been best friends for over 10 years and their friendship is as strong as a brother bond. Also, Josh is like a 2nd son to my hubby and I. We were honored to be invited to Parris Island, SC to watch Joshua graduate from Marines Boot Camp. PatrioticMarineMom and husband were very kind to include us. A trip we will always remember.

We don't mean for this to be misleading but felt I needed to expand on the sign. Here is the other half of the sign that I had to crop since it was cut off. Chris' Uncle is a Captain in the Air Force, so we are there to support him and all our troops too.
