And you know that by the time Obama gets to university such as, where did he go, Harvard? Those people hate the military there. They do everything to keep recruiters off campus. They probably disparage Memorial Day and all sorts of things because we're celebrating, you know, warriors and barbarians and rapists and murderers -- which is the left's view of the US military. Let me put it this way, Snerdley, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't know what Memorial Day is. But it's even worse if he does know, if he knows we're honoring the dead. Because somebody wrote the damn speech! He doesn't do a speech like this that is not written, somebody had to write the thing. Here, listen to it again, audio sound bite 16."

Maybe he did think that he saw them there. Hussien Obama is a muslim, Muslims believe that the dead frequently return to the earth to see if their friends or relatives really do miss them and are praying for them.
Yes. I sent this one out to my email list a while ago. Many of my contacts think Limbaugh is a right-wing fanatic (never having actually listened to him), but who could resist this one? Priceless.
I doubt whether anyone in the left wing press knows what Memorial Day is, either, so they probably didn’t even notice this gaffe. To them, it’s a three day weekend.
In fact, I think that’s one reason why the Democrats changed these holidays from Washington’s Birthday and Lincoln’s Birthday to President’s day, and from May 30th to whatever Monday or Friday comes closest. Because the three day weekend is more important to them than what it commemorates, and they wanted the voters to forget about anything patriotic.

I don't think this was a gaffe at all.
He was speaking to democrats, and by "fallen heroes", I think he was referring to those veterans in the audience who had become democrats.
Rush is right, someone wrote the speech, but Obama added the part about seeing many of them in the audience. Obama thought that he was engaging the audience in his speech. He didn’t know what he was saying.
It reminds me of the time Carl Rove said that Tim Russert was doing what he thought was a positive interview with Obama. Russert asked Obama a softball question about his book. I forget the question, but it was about change and social security. Obama couldn’t answer the question, even though, it was about a chapter in his book. Obama hadn’t even read the book.

Oh, yes, I’ve been posting about O-Gaffa’s bungling of his own family history as well as the immense events of WWII and the Holocaust. It’s well established that Obama is abysmally ignorant of history, geography, and international relations — but so long as his campaign staff can tell him which of the 57 states he is in today then he should be OK!

That is exactly what the Democrats think that they have with Obama. The problem for Obama is that he has too many handlers with differing agendas, all leftist, but different. They don’t mesh well for a national campaign, like Malley, the foreign policy advisor that Obama fired the week before Bush went to Israel, because Malley was meeting with the leaders of Hamas on a regular basis.

As I understand it from someone who worked on the legislation back in the day, that switch was Republican generated.
Could be. Either Republican country clubbers or Democrat war and patriotism protestors, or both.
Since Lincoln, a Republican, was the only president other than Washington to have his own holiday, I think the Republicans lost an important symbol when his holiday was expunged. And as I recall, the Democrats gave them no respite from propaganda attacks until they agreed to Martin Luther King Day.
