The Democrats in Congress have gone beyond ignoring real solutions to the pain at the gasoline pump and other critical problems. They are ignoring the people altogether in order to gain more political power.
Sadly, the mainstream media is allowing it to go almost unnoticed. I will not.
During the week of May 15, 2008, the Senate had three opportunities to increase the domestic production of oil and help ease our economy’s dependence on foreign oil. All three times the Democrats voted as a block to deny passage of critical oil liberating legislation.
The American Energy Protection Act of 2008 (Senate Bill 2958) would remove restrictions on oil exploration and drilling in Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) and the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). This would have opened access to about 24 billion barrels of oil, which is enough to keep America running for five years with no foreign imports, while other energy technologies are being developed.

Many Americans have become as dumb as rocks, but more than 50% of them will comprehend the basics of supply and demand.

What the Democrats are doing on this is beyond scandalous. But . . . why is this even an issue in 2008? The GOP controlled Congress and the White House for six years. We should have been refining and distributing this oil long ago.

If I were a Republican candidate for any office I would be pounding the fact that in addition to all of the lip service being paid to “alternative” fuels, we still need to increase our own domestic capacity to drill for both oil and natural gas. I would link our need to break our dependence on foreign oil along with the fact that the rats are beholden to the environmentalist nut jobs who are hell bent on turning us into a third world country. This message would resonate with most Americans. It’s too bad John McCain can’t see the big picture on this.
The Republicans are so clueless that they will not make this a big issue.

And a 5o cent per gallon tax to fight Gorebull Warming (McCain/Lieberman) is up for more brilliant approval from the gang in Washington.
Americans choose to burn their food rather than oil and it has resulted in the largest price increases in gas and food ever and the people are screaming for change and will probably elect the person who will do them the most harm, Barak Hussein Obama.

With all the evidence of the Democrats being as Dangerous as Al Quiada ,The Pundits on TV still continue to spew the line that it is a Bad Year for Republicans and the MORONS in the country eat it up.
With the success in Iraq and the Votes by the Democrats in Congress to keep us dependent on the Arabs and everyone else for oil the Democrats should be hanging their heads in shame if they had any ,of course that supposes that there is an advesarial party that was pointing this all out to the public but we have McCain

I have long contended that the US Senate is the most dangerous group of men and women on the face of the earth. I am being validated with every vote in that body.
It only remains, how long the American people are going to suffer the third body of representatives who were not designed as representatives to continue to serve us so well.
The second body is the Supreme court, who unfortunately also consider themselves representatives, the house might as well pack it in.
We either have a strategic long term goal to use up the other guys oil first. Or the oil companies are keeping a steady supply coming from the few places they're allowed to drill so their crews maintain their employment.
The Dems’ criticize the oil companies, but it’s the US government who owns the oil in the US, and the Dems won’t sell it.

Have faith. Carter tried the same things that Obama is planning. It resulted in a complete economic disaster.
We survived, and America got real angry at the Democrats (briefly) and went for Reagan.
There are all of these new College educated voters out there who have been promised the moon from their Socialist indoctrination. But now that they are out on their own, it will not take very long for them to learn what reality is all about. They are already having great difficulty finding jobs, but jobs that pay well with career promise.
They will see first hand the lies they have been fed and their extravagant lifestyle will come to an abrupt end. For the moment, they blame Bush and Republicans, which is why they are so overwhelmingly voting for Obama. (Change)
But that loyalty is based of a promise and a misguided view of the World. It won’t take long at all for them to turn that anger where it really belongs; The Democrats.
Which is why we need to write this election off, and find a young intelligent Conservative who can impress and lead them. And the rebuilding process starts in 2010.

I worked there for 20 years. Those “guard shacks” you are demagoguing are simply well houses to protect the well head from the extreme cold and prevent damage. It is also intended to eliminate the chance for an unconfined spill should a well head fail.
There are security checkpoints in the Slope that also guarantee that no sabotage can happen for radical enviro groups who have threatened to dynamite the wells because they are bitter that they lost and drilling was allowed.
There is not one well of the entire 10,000 already drilled that has ever been “capped”. They all have distribution heads and are feeding the line daily.

What they do around here in southern Michigan (Scipio field) is drill all over, cap most wells but draw the oil off from central wells. It’s low grade oil but I hate seeing the gas being burned off the way it is.

True. It probably wasn’t cost effective back in the 80s when the drilling and infrastructure went in. However with rising costs it may become cost effective but it would still cost huge amounts of money to build it.

Glen Beck said the other day the GOP needs to make commercials about this issue and others to the tune of something like the “FreeCredit Report.com” commercials. Yea, they are annoying as heck. But they do stick in your head.

The US is AWASH in hydrocarbons. According to a report prepared by the Office of the Secretary of Defense, we have about twice the amount of hydrocarbon resources in the form of oil, gas, coal and oil shales than Arab OPEC has in the form of crude oil.

Then there are all the conversion technologies that are being worked on. One company said that if our sewage sludge was converted to liquid fuels, it could displace all oil imports.

There is no excitement in this election for me. I fought hard for the republicans in 2000 and what did I get? Nothing but a more bloated government with out of control spending. I helped put the republicans in power for conservative change which didn’t happen. The elected turned out to be spineless whimps who did not fight for us. Now I am going to get on with my life and let the republicans lick their wounds. GWB doesn’t get a pass on the destruction of conservative values either. It is almost embarrassing to hear one of his speeches about taxes and spending.
