No problemo. just killing time ‘til the LOwe’s race later. ;-)
Ping to a Live one!
I told the guy at the watering hole last night that this was the 92nd race and he replied “There is no way they can drive 500 miles in 90 seconds!” I told him they had to shorten the time because of high fuel prices and he never said another word. ;-)
How long did that take to format I cringed at the thought of what that must look like
3 Women racing today, or should I say 2+ Danica?
LOL
I miss the ol’ watering hole. 8-)
not long at all,, just a little cut and paste and snip a little table row info out here and there.. (I got lucky)
Are you privy to some salacious info???
Have you heard if Neighbors will be there or not?
Nice
Golllllleeeeeeee I don’t know
Here’s one thing I’d like to see today: If there is a yellow flag at the 20-30 lap mark and everyone comes into the pits, I’d like to see Sarah stay out, take over first place, and lead the field at the green flag restart. Sure she’d fall way back later when she pitted, but she’s not going to win anyway, and the PR her team would recieve from hearing the announcer say “And Sarah Fisher leads the field into turn 4!” would probably do more to get her team PR and maybe more sponsors than just pitting like everyone else and having a mid-pack finish.
Yes. Jim will sing today!
Go Newman Haas Lanigan! Finally, Indy CHAMPs once again?
I guess I’m old fashioned by I’m not sure the whole Junior Power Rangers thing works for me. The Andretti vs. Rahall vs. Dannika as the new American Idol generation of drives. I think I’m rooting for castronoves. Also, now that Indy is down to one engine brand it’s not as much fun. I liked it when there were a few different manufacturers in it. Still gonna be a great race. I’m hoping some greybeard wins it!
wow, cool pic.. Thanks! adds a little scale to the thing..
Man, It’d be a hoot to take a ride around that thing at 225.. heck 200 would be plenty fast .. I hear the stands full of fans are just a blur .. or maybe I’d just settle for a ride on and view from the blimp. :-]

I like helio too,, The man can dance,, and knows the game well.. 3rd times a charm. Dixon is going to be tough tho.
They open the track to regular cars to drive around it during the pre-race week. I don’t think they’d let you go 200 MPH in your SUV, but at least you could say you drove the track at Indy. If you’ve never been to the 500, it’s definitely worth puting it on your Christmas wish list.

That is a very interesting comparison.

It was posted at indycar.com so I assume it’s accurate.
INDY 500 BUMP! Got myself all reved up by watching the F1 rain race in Monaco. Was Good!
So who is going to win? Kanaan?
Wrong league! ;)
Driver intro has begun.
Hey all.
I gotta laugh, I have found 2 mobile shortwave stations covering the race from Indianapolis today. They wont let them in the race with all the Radio gear but they are xmitting from
outside and have a video link at the track.
I didn’t know that Zanardi got back into a car again!
Scott Dixon
He had the fastest car for the first few races, but Dixon has been showing the speed in the races and practice sessions recently. I’m going with Dixon, Wheldon, then Kanaan. Dixon on laps. Rahal first driver out.
Seems like some of us ARE killing time until The Race. Thanks for this thread Norm.
I have a weird feeling Danica”s day may be a real short one just a feeling
I genuinely want to see this though...
Thanks for starting this thread. I just got home from church in time for the pregame festivities.
My dad took us to the race nearly every year from 1957 through 1968. Have only been able to go 2 or 3 times since then, but my family always knows that I get control of the TV set on Indy 500 day!
One of the “must do” activities for Mr. RightField and me (now that we’re retired) is attending the race at least once.
They’re probably better than Mussberger, etc. too! I listen to the live feed on the IMS radio network via the link at indycar.com while watching the ABC broadcast and indycar.com feed. BTW - the video feed on ABC is seven seconds delayed from the indycar.com video feed.
Is everyone’s screen split wrong???
My ABC HD feed has the screen split, with left on rightside and right on leftside???
G
Don’t forget there’s golf and baseball too..
But if we’re lucky, we got 1100 miles today unless we get extended play, forecasts look good. ;-)
Indy - Sun and clouds mixed. High 76F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph.
Lowe’s - Lots of sunshine. High 79F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
I just thought it was kinda funny.
Folks driving up there to broadcast on Ham radio!
When you go, take an entire week and go to as many events as you can. I especially enjoy the awards banquet.
Florence is singing God bless America right now. ABC isn’t airing it.
You’re most welcome!
I been to Indianapolis but never the track. Good luck on getting tickets and take your earplugs. ;-)
And the live NASA Mars landing of the Phoenix thingie (should start getting interesting around 4:45-ish (PST)
Do Muslims listen to Ham radio ?
Thanks for the advice. I grew up in Columbus, OH, and we often went over for the time trials (the most fun IMO). But you’re right, the festivities go beyond the race itself.
We took our kids there a couple of times during the summer and rode the tourist bus around the track. That was fun, too.
