Trouble brewing in N.Y. for Clinton
LA Times ^ | May 25, 2008 | Peter Nicholas

Even as she continues her longshot presidential bid, Hillary Rodham Clinton faces a political rift in New York, where black leaders say her standing has dropped due to racially charged comments by her and her husband during the campaign.

African American elected officials and clerics based in New York City say Clinton will need to defuse resentment over the campaign's racial overtones if she returns to New York as U.S. senator.

McCain contributions are rolling in Obama takes Clinton's word that RFK remark was innocent gaffeState Sen. Bill Perkins, who represents Harlem, said constituents recently phoned him because they wanted to demonstrate outside Bill Clinton's Harlem office against comments by the former president.

Michael Benjamin, a state assemblyman who represents parts of the Bronx, said his wife removed a photograph of Bill Clinton from her office wall -- an expression of the misgivings that some black New Yorkers feel.

Assemblyman Karim Camara of Brooklyn contributed $500 to Hillary Clinton's Senate reelection campaign in 2006 and described Bill Clinton as a political hero. He said: "Once the campaign is over there has to be a lot of work to heal the wounds. She needs to go back to the black churches she visited in the course of her campaign and have a frank conversation about who she is and how much the support of the black community means. There would not have been a first Clinton presidency in 1992 if not for the African American community."

Many of the officials back the presidential bid of Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, Clinton's rival for the Democratic nomination, though they say they have long supported the Clintons, defending him in the past and supporting her Senate run.

Al has spoken.

A huge majority of New York voters were stupid enough to elect this woman, with no ties or connections to New York, twice knowing full well she was just using them as a stepping stone to the presidency and now they whine that she is doing just that?

“Benjamin said: “I was pretty much appalled when supporters said one of her options was to run for governor. We have a governor. He’s a black Democrat. It’s not wise for them to challenge a black Democrat for governor.”

So blacks are offended when a white democrat challenges a black democrat?

It would be sweet if Hillary loses her Senate seat. If she lost, perhaps she’d move back to Arkansas or Illinois or wherever it is she calls home. Hey, as an added bonus, the Yankee’s luck might improve.

Nothing new has been revealed about the Clintons. Everything known about them has been public knowledge for years.

Yet Democrats, Democrat politicians, and notably Democrat operatives in the "Mainstream Newsmedia", posing as so-called "journalists", barraged the nation and the world with propaganda and disinformation that promoted, enabled, and empowered them and protected them from valid criticism, inquiry, and examination.

For their own self-serving purposes, Democrat politicians and their operatives did not hesitate to foist the Clintons on the American people.

Now--when it is expedient to do so--these same Democrats are doing their best to saboutage the Clintons.

Nothing could reveal more clearly the malevolence and evil at the heart of the Democrat Party of the 21st century--or the self-serving meretriciousness of Democrats and their operatives.

Michael Goodwin recently observed: "We have seen an X-ray of a very dark soul. One consumed by raw ambition to where the possible assassination of an opponent is something to ponder in a strategic way."

Goodwin is correct--but the very dark soul is the soul of the Democrat Party of the 21st century.

Absolutely. Mrs. Bill Clinton and the New York liberals deserve each other. She’s old news.

It’s sad that some of our democrat friends are so slow to realize what we conservatives have known since the Clinton’s entered the national stage in 1992. They lie. They contrive stories and extort support to get what they want. They perfected strategies such as “spin” and “triangulate” to cover their tracks and avoid responsibility. Democrats were happy to buy it, and all others who dared challenge them were labelled and dismissed. Safety in numbers, right?

Democrats had fun piling on when the Clinton targets were conservatives and republicans, didnt’ they? It’s not so fun any more, is it you stupid dems.

I have a feeling once Hillary has lost the nomination and possibly her Senate seat as well, and with nothing else to live for, she will go the way of Adolf Hitler.

**** So blacks are offended when a white democrat challenges a black democrat? ***

You bet your sweet bippy (1).

And not only in NY.

In good ole Crook County IL it is now a given that the Cook County Board President will be a Black Democrat. No White need apply. That Board position has been ceded to Blacks - period, end of story. And if he dies in officer, his SON gets (cough) 'elected' - which recently occurred.

(1) In memory of Dick Martin. RIP

It's sick, not sad.

Rats have known all along that the Clintons lie. It's just that this is "Rat Cannibalism, blacks against feminists. So now the lying matters to the black rats.

DC 37 the largest public employee union in NYC and a mostly black union is supporting Hillary 100%. So this article is full of it.

It's fabulous to see the Clinton's race pandering come back to bite them in the ass from the precise demographic group they have took for granted all these years.

The Democrat party with Obama as it's candidate, have gone into “racial vapor-lock”. Their “group think” policies have finally come to paint them into a corner.

Who would have EVER thought Hillary would be treated this way by the constituency of her husband, “the first black president”.

Your dreaming folks. No way is Hillary going to lose her Senate seat in NY. There are a lot of people that think the Clinton’s can do no wrong and a lot of them are in NY. The state is very liberal and GOP candidate would have to be liberal as well.

But we can dream, can’t we?

Seriously, I agree with you. She’ll be the female Kerry or Kennedy in MA, or the Byrd in WVA, re-elected to her seat as long as she’s breathing.

Slight correction pretty much describes the situation.

If New Yorkers don’t realize the Hillary they saw this campaign is the same Hillary they saw in the Senate races, they are doomed to disappointment.
