A day after a judge lashed out upon learning Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick had skipped a court hearing and taken a trip to Texas, the mayor tells WXYZ the uproar "had nothing to do with me."

Regard to your family? Reeeeaaaally? Was your affair conducted in "regard to your family?" I "hope" the judge and court understand that you "respect it immensely."
He doesn’t know that when he’s ordered by a judge to show up in court, he should show up? And he’s the mayor? Even a messed-up city like Detroit deserves better than this.
The judge would have revoked the bail or conditional release of any ordinary citizen . By his not doing so here , his expressions of outrage ring of hypocrisy .

With the exception of New Orleans....I don’t think there is a city in America that would this guy to stay on like this. Even Memphis would have ran him out after the whole spilled onto the newspapers. The city of Detroit can’t interest any major business into coming to the city because there isn’t a future. And the car industry is dying off in Michigan. I’ll stand here and predict by 2020...Detroit has lost 30 percent of its current population.
I’m going to hazard a guess that Kwame did this in such a way to dispell the notion that Judge Giles might somehow be sympathetic towards Kwame’s case when the time comes for a decision(s). BTW, did he or anyone ever mention where he actually was during his noteable absence? What’s next? He’s been working as a secret agent on a covert mission for the CIA and that thanks to all the media attention, his cover has now been blown? Maybe it’s all part of his “mission for god” and we should all be ashamed of ourselves for doubting his patriotism...nahh
Kilpatrick said he was not to blame for the situation.
He is a democrat, they are never to blame.
It is always some elses fault.
One of the things I don’t do now is any misstepping. So everything we do is done carefully, is done with regard for the job that I have, my family, and the citizens of the city of Detroit. So we’re going to continue to do that. And so, you know, I hope that the judge and court understand that I respect it immensely.”
Unlike the misstepping that got you in court in the first place.
