“”The documents written by carbon consultants to justify why their clients’ projects should be approved for CDM offsets contain enough lies to make a sub-prime mortgage pusher blush.””

Nice line.

Great article. All it needs is “In retrospect, carbon credit trading was invented and designed to game and cheat, and in all situations the trading agents always take their transaction fees.”

corruption and profiteering

Its not a bug, its a feature.

Global warming in general, and carbon credit trading in particular, make a wonderfully clear litmus test for determining who is fit for public office.

If you support it, you either believe in it, in which case you are too dim-witted for public office. Or you are in on it, in which case you are too corrupt to be fit for public office.

All of our current crop of presidential contenders fail the test. The only question is whether its because they are dim, or dirty.

Any type of technology other than nuclear power can apply for credits.

This alone shows that they are not really serious about cutting CO2 emissions with this program.

As if the carbon trading scheme wasn’t bad enough, have you ever looked into where all the money will go for these “climate-friendly” technologies that are being touted? Wasn’t it Rudy who wanted a “space program-like” “investment” in green technologies?

Well... The U.S. is a net-importer of clean technologies and it appears that China and Mexico (or their front companies) are raking in the dough.
Somebody needs to look at the fine print in some of those trade agreements.

diplomatic immunity - nothing will happen.

No American leader will challenge them or throw them out.

UN-run carbon trading mechanism

I'm thinking back into the dim recesses of my memory. I seem to recall that the last UN run trading mechanism, sometimes called the "Oil for Food" program, was the biggest money-laundering operation in the history of mankind.

Looking back through my 12 volume set of "World History for Obsessives" I can't find any single greater case of fraud at any time in history other than, ok, most governments.

Its not a case of fraud and mismanagement, mind you, but fraud carefully managed. Artfully managed. "How do I get my piece of the action" hiding right out in the open, white collar crime for the diplomatically-immune-from-ever-being-prosecuted.

Ding Ding Ding...

Marron gets the prize. Marron, you are hereby awarded the Entrepreneur Blinding Flash of the Obvious, Common Sense Discernment Award. It's worth less than a Nobel financially, but far more spiritually.

Congratuations!

The only question is whether its because they are dim, or dirty.

There's the traditional third option: they are pandering to the dim, to get votes from the single issue zealots of the Church of Gaia.
