Britain said Tuesday that it is granting asylum to a gay Iranian teenager who fears that he could face execution if forced to return to his homeland.
Britain's Border Agency said it would allow asylum for Mehdi Kazemi, who traveled in 2005 to London to study English and while there learned that his lover in Iran had been charged with sodomy and hanged.
Kazemi, 19, then sought asylum in Britain, but it was rejected, then in the Netherlands. The Netherlands' highest court rejected his claim in March, ruling that Britain was responsible for the case under European Union law because it was there that Kazemi first applied for asylum.

Life must be really difficult for homosexuals in countries that will kill you if they find out. There is no real way to suppress sexual feelings and desires in any person, whether heterosexual or homosexual. The only difference is in gender, but the basic needs for companionship and intimacy are the same. I’m fine with gays as long as I don’t have to visualize what they do behind closed doors. I know a couple of gays who have both told me that they’d give anything NOT to be gay, one of them in particular telling me that it hurts when he thinks about the fact that he will never be able to have a child of his own. These are both very nice people whom I’ve known for more than 20 years, and who simply cannot change who and what they are. They are gay, and that’s just the way it is and will have to be for them.
In a nation that will hang a person for being gay (and will also kill female victims of rapists as “honor killings,” to name another wonderful practice of theirs), the theocratic iron fist just drives homosexuality further underground but does not eliminate it, for it cannot be eliminated. I don’t have any problem with Britain’s granting asylum to such a person in these types of tragic circumstances. Learning that your partner has been hanged is equivalent to learning that one’s girlfriend or fiance has been murdered. I don’t wish that on anyone. May he find peace in his new home.
There is no temptation too great than that which may be resisted through faith in Christ. Homosexuality is no different in this fashion than telling falsehoods, murder, slander, beastiality, adultery, fornication, and a litany of other vices. Those who prefer to live a soulish life miss out on a freely available eternal life.
I think we need to get the guy mentioned in this article a speaking tour. Maybe he could convince a few on the left that islamonazis are a bigger threat to them than anybody on the Christian or Orthodox Jewish right.

That’s an interesting idea; assuming that he hates his former government (and I don’t see how he couldn’t), he might make a very good spokesperson.
Wasn’t there a Gay African, with British Gay asylum, in court for a series of female rapes. the magistrate asked, “I thought you were Gay”, he answered, “I just said that to get asylum”.

What the hell are you talking about Cvengr? Homosexuality is an ILLNESS. These people can’t stop it any more than they can stop cancer.
Sorry, but I still cannot go along with you on that one at all. To fully explain the multiple reasons why would probably require a few books’ worth of information. But I’ll just say quickly that there are many, many different interpretations of the Bible (hence the huge number of denominations — and even factions within those denominations — in the Christian faith).
Also:
1. I do not believe in Hell.
2. I do not believe in Heaven, at least as it is traditionally described. Angels, harps, clouds, even the notion that it is a place.
3. I believe that we are all multidimensional beings, and that the “you” that is reading this right now is, shall I say, a single “focus of attention” of which there are many.
4. We all mass-create our own reality. We are all co-Creators. We are doing it right now.
5. God is most accurately described as a gestalt.
6. Linear time is an agreed-upon illusion. It is a real part our reality here, but it is a consensus reality.
7. Traits, inclinations and talent are all results of the manner in which the multidimensional being’s (the true YOU’s) collective experience. For example, each soul is inherently BOTH male and female, in the spiritual realm. Each must experience both male and female physical lives. If a soul had chosen to live many female lives up to this point and thus had mostly female experiences and traits, then the first male life might be a difficult period of adjustment, and therefore this person may exhibit homosexuality. Talent works in the same way.
8. I do not believe that God condemns anyone for eternity.
9. There are many paths to oneness with All That Is (God), and Christianity is not the only one.
I guess that’s enough for now. You get the idea: We are not on the same page at all. This is OK; I don’t expect anyone in particular to believe what I believe. And yes, my beliefs do not fit any particular church, though I was raised Lutheran. They are a result of much reading and much introspection, and they absolutely make the most sense, both intuitively and logically, to me.
