Doctors for Sen. Edward M. Kennedy say he has a malignant brain tumor. Tests conducted after Kennedy suffered a seizure this weekend show a tumor in his left parietal lobe, the doctors said.
Thread Getting pulled Countdown.......8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1...
Sen Kennedy was at home and did not feel well-—and had what was later diagnosed as a seizure.
While being trasported to the hospital he had a second seizure.
Yea, whatever one may think about Senator Kennedy, now is not the time.
Prayers up!
Bummer. I hope he repents.
Although we may disagree with his politics, ethics and morals, he is one of God’s creations.
Keep it clean, kids!
The present news is that Kennedy’s seizure was caused by this tumor, and the type of tumor is one that sends many tentacles, like an octopus, into the brain, and if it is not caught early it is nearly hopeless to eliminate. It doesn’t sound like this was caught early.
Prayers for him ... never thought I would say that, but I do today.
Politics is a part of life, but life isn’t politics. I wish him nothing but the best, and my prayers go out to him and his family.
My Bible says God loves him as much as He loves me. Not my place to judge. Prayers for him and his family.
Well said. My prayers are with him and his loved ones.
nothing at all
May God have Mercy on his soul. Prayers to his family, this is tough stuff for anyone to have to deal with.
Well- the docs haven’t said yet which stage the tumor is in- but it just broke on FOX they have characterized the tumor as “inoperable”. Also- as we know, he had surgery 6 months ago and it wasn’t seen at the time- so one assumes this is a fast growing tumor.
Brain tumors are bad.
Here’s wishing for a full recovery and a long and happy retirement for Senator Kennedy.
I think I am going to schedule a CAT scan soon.
That is sad——prayers to give him the strength to deal with it.
My thought exactly, I too hope he repents.
And such a gift for someone at his age to have a medical diagnosis that comes with at least a little bit of time.
I pray he uses the time he has left to “prepare to meet his maker”.
God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the whole world might be saved through Him. John 3:17
My prayers in agreement with yours, airborne, for Ted to confess his sins, the Lord will be faithful and just to forgive him his sins and to cleanse him from all unrighteousness.

This is SO MUCH better than if he’d just keeled over dead with no warning. Truly God’s grace.
Responding to your question on another thread: As I stated on this thread already, news is that this tumor caused his seizure - that means it almost certainly wasn’t caught early.
Deserves to be repeated...Politics is a part of life, but life isnt politics. I wish him nothing but the best, and my prayers go out to him and his family.
Our Doctor apologized for putting our family through such an ordeal both mentally and financially. It cost my mother over $10,000 to pay the bills in a time when my dad was making 3-4000/year. The Doc went on to say that the surgeon knew it was futile but he wanted to “experiment” on the condition and treatment.

"It's not a tumor!"
Sorry Arnold, unfortunately is is.
Prayers to the Kennedy clan.
How horrible. May God bless the senator and his loved ones.
Has Tim Johnson returned to duty yet?
Maybe Romney will run for the seat again.
2nd - This is the political consequence of his not being able to serve his term.

Spouses and relatives of patients should have the right to say no to medical experimentation on their loved ones.
I read recently that med students are allowed to experiment on deceased patients who die in hospitals-—without the consent of loved ones-—doing procedures like inserting tubes.
Will MA follow the law?
ditto, For whatever reason this family has seen there share of sorrows. May God have mercy on us all!
Look back over these posts, gang.
This represents what we are all about. We feel the humanity of all and we root for what is best in the human species. We feel for families and friends. We offer prayers even for those with whom we deeply, even violently, disagree.
If this were Newt Gingrich or President Bush, the Daily Kos or the DU’s would be laughing their heads off and making sick jokes.
It does not take a genius to see who has retained their humanity and who has not.

I tend to think that we’re way above the Daily Kos and DU. We’re human; they’re not.

Sen. Edward Kennedy has malignant brain tumor

A cancerous brain tumor caused the seizure Sen. Edward M. Kennedy suffered over the weekend, doctors said Tuesday in a grim diagnosis for one of American politics’ most enduring figures.
Doctors for the Massachusetts Democrat say tests conducted after Kennedy suffered a seizure this weekend show a tumor in his left parietal lobe. Preliminary results from a biopsy of the brain identified the cause of the seizure as a malignant glioma.
His treatment will be decided after more tests but the usual course includes combinations of radiation and chemotherapy.

Kudos, Mods, for removing the other
hateful thread.
He had many faults, as did we all. But unlike certain others on the left, I don't think his patriotism and dedication to this nation could ever be questioned.

They keep getting locked because of a few ignorant people.
Well- the docs havent said yet which stage the tumor is in- but it just broke on FOX they have characterized the tumor as inoperable. Also- as we know, he had surgery 6 months ago and it wasnt seen at the time- so one assumes this is a fast growing tumor.
1. Just heard on Fox that the tumor is inoperable. Not good news, but at 76 with his prior health history, was he a good surgical candidate? Also, chemo and radiation have their own problems, is this a situation where he’s going to be able to hold up under the strain?
2. Left poriatal lobe, isn’t that where our speech and motor functions are? If so, then the horror is just beginning for Sen. Kennedy (As an epileptic, I can very much sympathise).
3. I suspect a resignation will be forthcoming. I would have liked to beat him at the ballot box, and all I can hope is that he can be made comfortable and have the time he needs to be with his family and freinds. We all will face our own mortality, folks. How we face it is part of what defines us.
Prayers for his health.
I hope he has enough time to get right with God, genuinely repent of the horrorful things he has supported (and say so publicly), and is able to retire and spend some quality time with his family.
some info re:
Brain tumors

Nervous System Tumors
Primary Brain Tumors Gliomas
Gliomas are tumors that are made up of glial cells, cells that play an important structural role in the brain. There are several types of gliomas and the two most common are astrocytomas, cancerous tumors, and oligodendrogliomas - rare, usually benign tumors. A particularly malignant type of astrocytoma is known as a glioblastoma multiforme, which can be either low grade (slow-growing and not very aggressive) or high grade (fast-growing and very aggressive).
Astrocytomas
About 25% of all brain tumors are astrocytomas, malignant tumors that originate in cells called astrocytes. Astrocytomas are graded and named based on what the cells look like under the microscope. Low-grade astrocytomas are made up of the least aggressive cancer
Advertising Disclaimercells, anaplastic astrocytomas are made up of more aggressive cancer cells, and a glioblastoma multiforme is a type of astrocytoma that is made up of extremely aggressive cancer cells. Glioblastoma multiforme is the most common adult primary tumor.
Astrocytomas usually develop between the ages of 20 to 50, but they can occur at any age. One of the most common early symptoms is seizures. Although they can develop anywhere in the brain, they usually develop in the temporal or frontal lobes of the brain and then spread into the adjacent tissues.
Glioblastoma Multiforme
Glioblastoma multiforme, a type of malignant astrocytoma, are the most common adult primary brain tumors. They occur slightly more frequently in men. Patients with these types of tumors are usually over the age of 50, but the tumors can develop at any age. Patients who develop the tumor at a younger age have a significantly better survival rate than older patients. Symptoms are caused by rapid tumor growth, infiltration into adjacent tissues, swelling (edema) and an increased accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain (hydrocephalus). Most patients experience headaches, seizures, or a change in their mental status.
It sounds like some recent discoveries have been made in treatments for this type of cancer. Hope something will work.

“Some scientists are focusing on molecules that are located primarily in glioma tumors with the hope that they can be tricked into killing themselves and other components of the tumor. One molecule that flourishes in gliomas forms a special binding site. In a recent human study, scientists examined a drug engineered to include a toxin and the protein transferrin, which is naturally attracted to these binding sites. The researchers pumped high doses of the mixture into glioma tumors. In two weeks the therapy had cut the tumor size by at least half in nine out of 15 patients. The trial is now in the second phase of testing. However, at high concentrations the therapy may damage healthy tissue because low amounts of the binding sites also are found in some non-tumor cell groups.
Other researchers recently have found molecules, including glioma-chloride channels (GCC) and brain enriched hyaluronan binding proteins (BEHAB), which may be more specific to glioma tumors. In addition, the molecules seem to help the tumor spread throughout the brain. Targeting them with a toxin potentially could not only wipe out the cancer cells and ignore the healthy cells, but also could impede the cancer cells expansion. “
You are absolutely right. Any large group has ethical and moral idiots; FR is not immune.
If any one reading this thinks a malignant brain tumor and a slow lingering and awful death is cause for rejoicing or humor, please go lie down under a bus.

Maybe Teddy will now have second thoughts about all the wrongheaded positions he’s taken throughout his life, chiefly, his rabid pro-abortion stand.
There’s something fundamentally wrong with someone who cheers on the murder of unborn children.
Absolutely. I remember some of the horrible things they said about Ronald Regean and his alzimers and loss of body function. I feel only a deep sadness and heartbreak for what Senator Kennedy and his family will have to face. God be with them. I offer my heartfelt prayers for him and his family. So terribly sad.
He’s a father, an uncle, a grandfather, a brother.... certainly, the Kennedy family must be feeling a lot of sdaness and pain right now. They are such a close-knit and supportive family. My thoughts are with all of them.
But those politics are affecting peoples lives. Cause and effect.
I heard it was real easy to find even though it’s small so they’ll probably be able to remove it with very minimal brain damage. Prayers for him and his family.
