As reported executively in the Laguna/El Paso Journal the Calderon administration was expected to rush more Mexican Army troops to the border cities of Juarez, Tijuana, Mexicali, Palomas and others. The first leg of that troop enforcement became an reality yesterday -- Hundreds more Mexican army soldiers arrived in Juárez under the cover of darkness as part of Joint Operation Chihuahua, intended to augment the Mexican governments war against the Mexican Drug Cartels operating in Mexico.

After seeing the film “Traffic” I have to wonder how many of them are representing both sides.
“Operation Chihuahua”
Forgive me, but...
Bwaha ha ha ha ha ha!!!
they gonna take us over now...??.....remember the alamo!!!!!
How about the movie "Man of Fire", regardless of a person's feelings about Denzel Washington, this movie is an excellent depiction of Mexican government corruption.
Chihuahua is a state in Mexico, bordering Texas and New Mexico.
Make gang membership punishable by death. Round up the drug gangs, and execute them. Put our military on this side of the border to cooperate with Mexico as gang bangers come this way to escape. Mexico better do it while it still has a military.
ummm...i think that was my point....
bump
“Joint Operation Chihuahua”
-sounds about right, the entire country couldn’t p*** it’s way out of a paper bag, anyway.
I didn’t realize just how serious the situation is down there. Police chiefs asking for asylum? Mexico is becoming another Columbia - government officials are as likely to get whacked as a rival gang member. But with Mexico’s history of corruption, the government official might be a patron of the other gang. This is Chicago/New York of the ‘20’s and 30’s on a national scale.
Good. Somebody needs to put some extra security on the border. Might as well be there as here.
Question:Why did the Mexican Army only have 500 men at the Alamo?
Operation Chihuahua
My last time in Mexico was “Operation Rolling Thunder.”
That movie depicts drug abuse among the young better than anything else out there.
Operation Taco (ring ‘em like a) Bell.
We should be stationing a few thousand of our own across from the trouble spots and coordinating with the authorities to catch the baddies in a sandwich.
I’ve been following news of Calderon’s attorney general, he’s one of the good ones.
Sounds like an easier, cheaper, more humane approach....but what do I know.
Okay, why?
The officers of many units are in the pay of the drug lords.
In Mexico, money can buy anybody. Anybody.
They had over 5000.
Maybe the Mexican troops are really there to block the illegals trying to go home after being ousted from AZ and OK. And I wonder how many of the Mexicops will make a run across the border themselves, LOL!
But definitely make gang membership punishable by death: for all intents and purposes, MS-13, Bloods, Crips, et. al. are TERRORIST organizations and should be treated as such. They should be given the same treatment as the Taliban and Al Qaeda.
I agree with you. While I was in the navy, at Camp Pendleton, 1996-’98, I noticed that base usually had about 3,000 marines who didn’t have much work to do. They live about 35 miles north of downtown San Diego and 40 miles from the border, where thousands of illegals sneak in, each year. The marines should have been ordered to guard the border.
I got that as well. Amazing film.
True, and anyway Mexicans refer to the little barking rodents as Chihuahuenos, not Chihuahuas, because of the state’s name.
Well, you would be an enlightened soul, if you weren’t talking about criminal gangs in a criminal state like Mexico. What might work here, isn’t likely to work in Mexico where the criminals are competing for control of the system.
Appreciate the heads up on that film; I’ll look for it. Have you seen Denzel in American Gangster? Based on a true story, an incredible portrayal of the drugs trade in Harlem during the Nam war.
Hey, why do you just legalize all crime. Poof! No more criminals!
Even those officers who stay in the army, rather than leaving to join the cartels for higher pay, are likely corrupted. And the governor of Chihuahuah is likely corrupted. And the Presidente of Mexico is likely corrupted.
So, it’s unlikely that this is anything more than a charade.
Drug money buys off a lot of American law enforcement. Does anyone think for an instant that clinton went after the Mexican or Columbian cartels? They were paying him his 5%, and he worked with them for decades before he entered the White House. He used the DEA to control their small time competitors.
The problem is far worse in Mexico.
We’ve got the finest-honed desert warriors in the world now. I imagine there are quite a few out there who would prefer a tour among mesquite and saguaro to camel spiders and EFPs.
With the chance of potting a few narcotrafficantes thrown in for entertainment.

WOLVERINE!!!1!11!
Answer: They only had two cars.
red dawn....great movie in the day....hope there are alot of young people out there like them....
“Remember the Alamo” was the battlecry of Houston’s soliders afer the couragous effort of the Alamo defenders allowed him enough time to get into position to attack Santa Anna and defeat the Mexicans. It is not uttered here in Texas as a sign of defeat or retreat, but of a soon to be delivered can of whup ass.
On the other hand, why not make alcohol illegal again?! Why is society sanctioning these dangerous chemicals and directly participating in the deaths of 10's of thousands on the highway each year?
truly one of the more gay war films of all time.
A lot of them. It is well known that the soldiers are as corrupt as the politicians and the police.
Nope I missed him in that one, but will look for it and rent it if I have to do that. Thanks.
my original post was meant to remember the alamo and not let it happen again.....sorry if i wasn’t clear....
They only had one station wagon.
Jim Bowie and Davy Crocket stood on the walls of the Alamo, viewing the thousands of Mexicans in the distance, waiting to approach the mission. Jim turns to Davy and asks “We pouring concrete today?”
Tuesday Amnesty Battle: Keep The Pressure On
Tuesday Game Plan: Keep the Faxes and Phone Calls Going
Dear opponents of amnesty and other rewards for illegal immigration, You are making a difference. We broke a record for number of faxes ordered yesterday and our sources inside Capitol Hill are reporting an increased awareness of opposition to the AgJOBS amnesty among Congressional offices.
186,568 faxes were ordered yesterday!
23,185 faxes were ordered in one four-hour period!
We have not turned the corner, but if we can keep that sort of pressure on Congress all week, we have a shot at beating back the AgJOBS amnesty for up to 3 million illegal aliens. We are in much the same position as we were in yesterday. Our job right now is to make sure that every Senate office understands that their constituents strongly oppose the AgJOBS amnesty.
It all depends on you. Our Action Buffet team is busy posting new actions on your Action Buffet corkboard. Please go there immediately and send the faxes and make the phone calls we've posted on your Action Buffet .
If you have never called a Congressional office, today is the day to start. It is easy and only takes a few minutes of your time. Please call your two Senators today to express your opposition to the AgJOBS amnesty.

NEED PRESSURE ON THE HOUSE TOO
Those of you who have a U.S. Representative who is on the House Appropriations Committee or is a member of the House Leadership will be seeing special fax and phone opportunities today as well.
We are hearing some disturbing reports of movement in some House offices to support the AgJOBS amnesty. We must stop this before it gains traction in the House. Your keeping the pressure on your Senators is also sending an important message to the House.
BACKGROUND
The Senate Appropriations Committee voted 17-12 to attach an amnesty to the Iraq supplemental spending bill. The amendment that passed provides a 5-year visa for up to 1.35 million illegal agricultural workersbut the cap of 1.35 million does not include spouses and children, who would bring the total amnesty to a total of about 3 million.
Rosemary Jenks (Vice President, Government Relations) has outlined the most egregious aspects of the amnesty here. You wont want to talk about the AgJOBS amnesty without reading this first. Find it online here http://www.numbersusa.com/PDFs/AgJOBS_Amnesty_2008.pdf.
In short, the AgJOBS amendment would require the Department of Homeland Security to grant emergency agricultural worker status (i.e., amnesty) for up to five years to as many as 1.35 million illegal aliens, plus their spouses and children.
Last Thursday, the Senate Appropriations Committee added several immigration amendments to the version of the Iraq Supplemental they were marking up.
The immigration amendments include the Feinstein AgJOBS-lite amendment, which passed by a recorded vote of 17-12; and the Mikulski H-2B amendment which would, for the next three years, exempt from the annual cap of 66,000 any H-2B workers who were admitted during the previous three years. (The impact on the numbers could be exponential--they could rise from 66,000 in FY 2008 to over 400,000 by FY2011.) This passed by a recorded vote of 23-6!
On the same day, the House voted down its version of the Iraq Supplemental. Since all appropriations bill must originate in the House, the Senate cannot move their bill to the floor until the House passes a version and sends it to the Senate. A new Iraq Supplemental has not yet been put on the House floor schedule, but our Capitol Hill team expects that they will move one soon after their return on Tuesday.
The Senate has to wait for a House version of the bill which means it could come to a vote in the Senate as early as tomorrow or Thursday
That is why we are asking you right now and every day this week to go to your Action Buffet corkboard and take every AgJOBS-related action possible.
DONT GIVE UP
A national outcry against this amnesty is developing. You are the reason why. Although we are still unsure how this will all play out, we are determined to keep the pressure on Congress to block any amnesty until the final vote has occurred. Thank you for being a part of this most important national effort.

(May 20) The Senate Appropriations Committee last week voted 17-12 to attach an amnesty to the Iraq supplemental spending bill. In short, the AgJOBS amendment, which was sponsored by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), would require the Department of Homeland Security to grant “emergency agricultural worker status” (i.e., amnesty) for up to five years to as many as 1.35 million illegal aliens, plus their spouses and children (bringing the total amnesty to about three million), if the illegal alien:

Speaker Pelosi Strong-Arms Democrats to Disarm SAVE Act Threat
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is using strong-arm tactics against anti-illegal-immigration Democrats in an effort to kill the SAVE Act (H.R. 4088) for the year. North Carolina Democrat Heath Shuler's SAVE Act is an incredible threat to the unscrupulous businesses of America who insist on illegal labor to hold down their labor costs. Most business owners are not like that, but the outlaw businesses have the ear of Speaker Pelosi.
Pelosi and her team are intimidating Democrats to make sure they do not sign the Discharge Petition that would bring the SAVE Act to the floor for a vote. They know it would easily pass if there is a vote.
Even though 49 House Democrats have co-sponsored the SAVE Act, only 10 have signed the Discharge Petition. The other 39 Democrats have heard the message loud and clear that if they sign the petition and it gets the necessary 218 signatures to force a vote, those Democrats should not count on any favors or help for their congressional Districts from the House leaders.
Click here to view the list of Representatives blocking the SAVE Act by NOT signing the Discharge Petition, and call if your Representative has sided with Speaker Pelosi and outlaw businesses.
