America Needs to Move Forward, but Congress Has the Car in Neutral

Another attitudinal poll was just published by National Public Radio (May 15, 2008), indicating that “80 percent of likely voters surveyed said the U.S. is headed in the wrong direction.” Real Clear Politics has even tracked these “wrong direction or right direction” polls for years, but no one explains how these same geniuses surveyed would define the right direction.

In fact, it should not be surprising that this attitude of heading in the wrong direction has increased from 51 percent in November of 2006 to 80 percent today, since the Democratic leaders in Congress, the Democratic presidential primary candidates and most of the mainstream media have been screaming “wrong direction” to the public for most of George W. Bush’s years as president.

I have often thought that a majority of the “wrong direction” meant too liberal. I certainly think we’re heading in the wrong direction.

Really want to see red? Look at this.

Can anyone anywhere explain to me what possible reason the USA has, other then a totally goofy Govt Energy policy of “Conservation, not Consumption” for producing less oil right now then it did 20 years ago????

Why despite a decade of ever increasing world demand for Oil do we produce less now then we did in 2000?

Past time everyone in DC get a pink slip from the American people.

Those darn Demoncrats.........

Who was it that provided 95% of the votes for the filibusters of every attempt to change anything from judicial appointments to energy policy the last 8 years?

The Republicans in Congress just can’t seem to get their act together to take some bold ideas to the public

This makes it sound as if Republicans in Congress are just experiencing some sort of writer's block.

In fact the Republicans in Congress are much more culpable in bringing about this sad state of affairs. They had too much gravy and not enough beef.

If people took responsibility for their lives and the lives of their family there would be no need to "cry for a leader". What they are really crying for is a national nanny to run their lives for them and do for them what they are no longer willing to do for themselves.

Energy independence should be a natural big issue for Republican this election cycle - but they will not touch it.

America Needs to Move Forward, but Congress Has the Car in Neutral...

In many ways, America needs to move backwards - backwards to the 1950's. No RICO, no EPA, no "Great Society", no welfare state. Back to a time when people earned their own keep.

Actually, I would like to see Congress put the car in reverse and back up somewhere before 1913.

No the car is not in neutral, the car is on block with the engine (American Prosperity) stolen out of it and no gas in the tank.

Capitalism creates WEALTH, Socialism uses that wealth UP...

The More Socialism the less wealth available to the people individually..
The More Capitalism the More wealth the people have to spend individually...

Capitalism is progressive, socialism regressive..
