Is there any other way to help out JimRob?

Dr. Zoo typing for Jim:

Howdy everyone.

Looks like I made it through the surgery OK, bad leg is gone. So far, so good.

Hope to be able to get out of this bed pretty soon and get back to work.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers and well wishes.

Freepers are absolutely the greatest.

The VA hospital is the best place to go for this kind of stuff.

The VA. Yeah, I got that. How about a fundraiser? He HAS provided a way of life...

I would certainly contribute to a fund raiser to help out Jim, Shelia and the sons. Their expenses will be quite heavy for a while, I should think--it seems to me that they will have to hire some help and get some new equipment for the house, etc.

Fervent prayers continue for you, Mr. Robinson, and your entire family.

Thanks for the experience that is Free Republic!

Best wishes to Jim for a speedy and full recovery.

Jim, your website has been a significant part of my life for several years, since I first had the good fortune to find it mentioned in the Wall Street Journal. You have contributed immeasurably to public discussion, and you have provided a venue for conservatism to develop and thrive in all of its facets, in our public as well as our private lives. For those of us whose values have been evolving, you have been an immeasurably-valuable resource.

I hope that you are back with us full time, quickly and for many years to come.

“How about a fundraiser? He HAS provided a way of life...”

Sounds good. I’m in. How about we have a “Jim Rob” day. We set a day and a goal and do a party thread for pledgers. Perhaps a Mod-Admin would help out with a sticky thread for the day. 24 hours, midnight to midnight.

I highly recommend the book Best Care Anywhere: Why VA Health Care Is Better Than Yours, by Philip Longman. It will almost make you believe in socialized medicine. It will definitely make you understand that health care needs some major changes.

In the current health care industry, almost everyone benefits more -- financially -- from giving health care than from supporting health. The VA has found a way to align incentives so that the emphasis is on health (through prevention and proper management of chronic illness) rather than on dispensing care.

Jim, I wish you only the very best. It sounds like you're in the right place.
