The bloated government argument she makes is hard to argue with but I do take exception to her condemning the Party and Bush for the war. No objective person can argue it was necessary to do away with the butcher of Baghdad. The Democrats voted to do it and only showed their true colors (yellow on yellow) when the moon bats began to bark.

Well, we shall see how the animals in the M.E. treat the KUM BI YA crowd should the “Magic Mulatto” become president (which I doubt). One of two things will happen should this occur, either the crazies will ramp it up unmercifully knowing he will be hamstrung from reacting by the cowards of his Party or else he will betray his moon bat handlers and engage the enemy. Either way he loses and the next cycle in the Beltway begins.

BTW, I totally disagree with Noonan’s take that McCain in the general election is a catalyst to get the libs out to vote. They would come out this cycle anyway but he is actually popular among some Dems and with the split in the Dem Party, here much minimized by Noonan, and some saying if their candidate doesn't win they will either stay home or vote for McCain, things are nowhere as rosy for the Left as she opines.

What happens to the Republicans in 2008 will likely be dictated by what didn't happen in 2005, and '06, and '07. The moment when the party could have broken, on principle, with the administration – over the thinking behind and the carrying out of the war, over immigration, spending and the size of government – has passed. What two years ago would have been honorable and wise will now look craven. They're stuck.

And here we are...

Sounds like Peggy is auditioning for the Obama Administration’s head speech writer.

Sorry Peg, that job will go to another opportunist.
