Four white students at Central York Middle School were charged with harrassing and using racial slurs against a black student on a school bus Friday.
The 13 year-old boys were charged Wednesday with harrassment, ethnic intimidation and disorderly conduct by Springettsbury Township Police.
One of the boys was also charged with terroristic threats and open lewdness, police said. The boy simulated an inappropriate gesture involving his genitals and made vulgar comments, Lt. Scott Laird said.
The boys "verbally and physically harrassed and intimidated" the 13 year-old victim on the ride home, police said.
Laird declined to discuss specifics because the case involves juveniles and out of respect for the victim. Though his name has not been released, the victim is known by his classmates.
Police are appalled that such abhorrent activity still permeates the community in this day and age , Laird said.
"It is despicable. It is embarrassing, and it is something that the community cannot tolerate," Laird said Wednesday.
But because race is involved and a school district is militantly committed to "diversity," it rises to the level of a crime.
There are agendas behind this not the least of which is the "diversity" agenda of the Central York School district.
This involves training of staff that takes on a totally political and social character with everything presented in training sessions from comments about guns, the war in Iraq, questioning why America should have only one language etc. Not to mention values clarification, racial profiling and so on....
The newspaper has an agenda. A racial obsession as it pursues a "diversity" policy of its own. If you've read Bernard Goldberg's writing you're familar with how the news business has been taken over by the need to represent "diversity" in its work.
The "Daily Record" has a policy of trying to include more minorities in its coverage including photos. I helped them in a way by putting out the word online I wished we would see more stories about murder victims with their pictures.
I wanted to show and the resulting coverage has shown how often "people of color" are the murder victims way out of proportion to their proportion of the population.
Of course the flip side of that is that "people of color" are disproportionately the perpretrators of murder and other crimes.
There are race baiting organizations in this area like the York County Community Against Racism, which has been holding talks with local police about racial profiling and is part of a broader York County Coalition Against Racism.
The coalition against racism has the usual laundry list of left leaning, pro-gay organizations and even Planned Parenthood is involved.
That points to me that once these characters end up making racial words a crime, then words involving gays a crime, they will move on to words like "baby killer" used to describe abortionists being added to the "hate crimes" list.
Remember Pastor Niemoller in Germany when considering this story.
I'm not for lewdness, but I don't want racial words criminalized, because then you're on a slippery slope until your speech will become a "hate crime."

This sounds like 4 kids against one kid on a bus. They’re bullying the kid through harrassment and racial slurs.
The laws for children going to and from school are different than for those same kids in their own neighborhood. By those laws which promote discipline and good order, these kids can be charged.
Exactly the same would happen in the military.

The community has a vested interest in discipline and good order being the controlling interest when it comes to hundreds of kids and their attendance at school.

A law that is selectively enforced (and I don't know whether that's the case here or not) hardly encourages respect for law.
Well you and the cops have a funny definition of bullies. This stuff happens every single day in America. Every-—day. Expell them, whatever, but the cops don’t need to be involved. Where I come from a bullie is someone who physically attacks you.
My sisters rode buses in FL during forced integration as the only “non-minorities” on the bus. They endured far worse than this and no cops got called.

The law dictates order and discipline to and from school and while at school. It has nothing to do with PC. It has to do with the necessity to have children under supervision.
I guarantee you that the military would bring 4 soldiers harrassing another soldier in this manner up on serious charges.
That such laws were unequally enforced in this or any other era does NOT make the law wrong, nor does it make enforcing it wrong.
It is the unwritten law of protected minorities. Had the racial mix of the parties involved been reversed, there would have been no story, period. Hate crime laws are only for whites committing offenses against minorities, not the reverse.
So these KIDS are being punished while Jeremiah Wright is walking free. Very nice.
I could, of course, be wrong.
It is still possible to charge those who riot in our streets, campaign for the death of our soldiers and president, and smash the windows of recruiting offices but expect all of the charges to eventually be dismissed once the dust clears, as usual.
What does any kid to bring on harassment by another group of kids? Be different or more or less popular.

That is the point of political correctness. Some animals are more equal than others.
If this was a private school, the boys would have been promptly expelled.
The problem with compulsory ( imprisonment-like) government schools is that when attendance ( incarceration) is state compelled the government feels compelled to make the boys “good”. This includes compelling or forbidding certain speech.
The solution of course is to abolish government owned and operated schools ( kiddie-prisons). Free of conscience, First Amendment Rights, and government schools can **NOT** NOT**NOT** coexist! ( Yes, I am shouting but Americans seem to be stupid.)

That's possible, sure. In that case the harrassment would not be justified.
But if he, for example, called the girlfriend of one of the boys a "white trash ho", then I have no problem with a little verbal payback.

They're just lucky they'll be charged as juveniles rather than adults. Maybe if they learn something from this they'll avoid future trouble that will go on their permanent records.

IMO, they should get in trouble but I think criminalizing stupidity is going too far. At that age there should be some punishmen but not a criminal record.

Yesterday, on the radio, a group of obviously liberal disk jockeys on an afternoon talk show were discussing "racism in America" and how Hillary's 67% vote in West Virginian was proof positive that whites in America were racist as most West Virginians were white and, since it was not reasonable to think that "67% of them thought that Hillary's health care plan was that much better" the cause for the lop-sided voted had to be white racism.
They excitedly tripped all over themselves agreeing with each other.
Then, one disk jockey asked, "But what about when Obama gets 90% of the black vote? Is that racism?"
The radio goes silent for a while.
Then you hear:
"Well, ...."
"Ummm....."
"Errr...."
" Umm,.. errr, ...well, that's different .... ummm"
"Well, ummm ... I don't thinks so because, .... ummmm ......"

What people are upset about is the racist way that the Race Card is used. If it is not used even-handedly, then don't use it at all.
