EXIT POLLS: The Race Factor in West Virginia

A confluence of groups customarily inclined toward Hillary Clinton was voting in the West Virginia primary, with less-educated, lower-income Southern whites predominating.

Nonetheless there was room for criticism of Clinton -- and bringing "needed change," Barack Obama's trademark, was again the most-desired candidate trait.

The Race Factor

Racially motivated voting appeared to be running higher than usual: Two in 10 whites said the race of the candidate was a factor in their vote, second only to Mississippi. And only a third of those voters said they'd support Obama as the nominee against John McCain, fewer than in other primaries where the question has been asked.

At the same time, 48 percent in preliminary exit poll results picked "change" as the top candidate attribute, not far from its level across all primaries to date, and

I think Barack misread The Invisible Man. He showed up in West Virginia once a good while ago, and made one visit for a few hours Sunday. I suppose some people won’t vote for him because he’s black, some because he’s half-black, etc., but to ignore the fact that the great BO made no effort whatsoever to campaign in West Virginia is not even mentioned in the Media Reports. Hillary campaigned here; BO didn’t. Tough luck, BO. Change your name to junior and come again some time.

Why is it only considered racial motivation when they're talking about whites? All I've heard from the MSM for a year now is that, "Understandably, Obama has 90% of the black vote". What's that all about?

I think what happened a couple of days ago with Hillery being savaged by the media for her remarks about her supporters being white is a very dangerous direction in which we as a nation are heading. We are giving blacks a pass to be judgemental and exclusionary toward whites, while whites are expected to embrace diversity. This precident of a double standard needs to end immediately.

Americans from Africa? I don't really know any, although I am aware that John Heinz-Kerry's wife is one. I am a native American, being from Texas, and don't care much for 'Identity Politics'. No hyphens need apply. Racism isn't cool either. That's something only Democrats practice as far as I know, and they certainly appear to be engaged in proving that they are, in fact, racists. I hope that works against them.
