MEDFORD — Hayes Avenue is normally a peaceful street. But residents of the secluded north Medford neighborhood awoke Sunday morning to wall-to-wall graffiti.
Several properties, including a house and some fences, were covered in multicolored letters, numbers and pictures, including profanity.
"I don't recall seeing anything that big in Medford," said Medford police Detective Sgt. Mike Budreau. "It's going to cost thousands of dollars."
Among the hardest hit is a house owned by Jodi and Jim Salyer, where Jodi's mother lived until her death a year ago.
Jodi Salyer said she invested $30,000 into fixing up the vacant house and has been trying to sell it. She said police told her they believe they'll find the vandals, but she doubts she'll recoup the money it will cost to repaint the house.
"I don't really know that I'm going to get compensation, but I would hope so," she said. "Someone needs to be held accountable."
Glenda Owens, who oversees the code enforcement department, said a city ordinance requires property owners to remove graffiti at their own expense within 10 days.
Dorothy DeFrance, whose home faces the Salyer property, looked aghast at the damaged house and neighbors' fences Monday.
"It's terrible. I've never seen it in our neighborhood before," she said, pointing to the defaced properties. "This man back here just put his fence up a month or so ago."
Ernie Whiteman, Medford police department school resource officer, said the graffiti has elements common to both gang members and taggers.
The number 510, which is a telephone area code for California's Bay Area, and the word "Cal," which could represent California, are the kind of graffiti gangs use, he said.
But there are also words such as "Derte" and "Loser," which could be names or nicknames.
"We've never seen those names," he said.
Whiteman, who has worked on many graffiti cases in Medford, said he's surprised neighbors didn't hear the vandals at work, shaking spray paint cans and talking in the middle of the night.
"Some of the paint is double-colored and outlined," he said, adding the vandalism took at least an hour.
Though police have no leads, Whiteman said he anticipates acquaintances of the vandals will come forward.
"You can't do anything this big without bragging about it," he said.
Budreau said the crime, criminal mischief, is a class C felony and the maximum penalty is up to five years in prison and a $125,000 fine.

Over 50 years this was my hometown. It has been transformed in just a few years to something I no longer recognize. We are being ethnically cleansed. Recently there were several drive by shootings and gang killings. It appears the Latino gangs are letting the law know that they are still in charge!
As Chief Bratton of LA said, "If you don't like it, leave."

In MA we pronounce our city of Medford as “Meffa”, as in “Donna from Meffa has a wicked pissah Camaro.”
New industries are springing up because of the invasion, however.....graffiti removal, meth sales, home security ....
Armed citizens patrol, rotating schedule, all adults in the community contribute time or their property is ignored should some thug...er...yout decide to turn it into an impromtu urban “art” gallery.
You won’t get much more than a tisk-tisk from the police until you prove you’re not going to sit still for a local rendition of “It’s a 3rd World After All” in you back yard. Once you start doing the heavy lifting, you can be certain the cops will start taking the matter seriously.

Thanks, Jet. I’ll never forget the first gang signs I ever saw in Medford, our quiet, safe, clean little city. I was driving to work, in a rural, industrial area and all over some stored vehicles, there it was....that was about 10 years ago.
We passed through Medford in the spring of 1991, and thought it was lovely. We especially remember how delicious the tap water was - so much better than San Diego’s. I’m really sorry to see this happen there. It’s disgusting.

Medford just last week got voted the best tasting water in the N.W. So that’s not destroyed...yet.
6 years ago my neighbor died, an elderly woman with a tiny home and a garden like 2 acre yard. It was breathtaking. Her relatives sold the place to a guy who brings in illegals. Within 2 weeks the entire neighborhood was a bario. About 20 moved in. They built metal and plywood shacks all over the property. Turned the goats and fighting chickens lose. It was destroyed immediately. One woman with several anchor babies ‘serviced’ all the men. They hung out on the street being obscene and tormenting all the little girls in the ‘hood’....like my granddaughers. First my daughter moved. Just built a new home, lost about 150 thousand. I was ill, and needed to sell, so I listed my home. I got 100,000 less than the appraisal. The realtors couldn’t get down the street because the ‘homeboys’ were beating on the hoods of their cars when they drove by....I found out later an alien bought my home...she was from Canada! But, every bit as scumy as the Mexicans across the street. The whole neighborhood is just a disaster now.
Someone’s cheap labor cost my family about a million dollars just on that incident.
The reality, folks, is that you are trying to place post-modern European law and thought on people from the 3rd World whose entire value systems, thoughts and aspirations are very different than yours. Despite the overwhelming amount of private and public force-feeding of diversity and multiculural as being “equal but different” we know the truth.
The bottom line is that when a town is taken over by people from formerly 3rd World nations, the area declines, in a Western view, but to the 3rd Worlder, it looks a lot like their own homes, once the Cleaver-esque white picket fence areas have grafitti.
As Michael Savage said yesterday, there will be a revolt when the People get fed up. It will happen.
What you say makes perfect sense. Here’s what happens though.
I called when the barrio first moved into my neighborhood. They were breaking every planning commission rule there was. Building shacks all over the property to house more aliens, etc. The county told me I was a racist and when they killed someone then I could complain.
Now, I had a 4 bdrm home and a 2500 sq foot shop on 2 acres. My shop was exquisite, very livable, complete with everything.
But the county would NOT let me live in my shop ( I was alone by then) and rent my home. But they had no problem with 2 dozen illegals building anything they wanted.

On my last trip to CA, I found that the liberal serfs were quite happy with the fascist sewer they created. If the gangs don’t get them, the eco-fascist government will. Then the lib legislature will come behind with accountants to tally up the pieces remaining and tax it.
CA should replace its flag with a dead jackass with its feet sticking up in the air.
These bottom feeders are my equals in only two respects — they inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. We will never get “fed up” enough to extinguish their grip on society until we denounce muticulturalism for what it is, an excuse for horrific behavior.

It happens because the neighbors aren’t sufficiently motivated to fight for themselves. Everyone runs away, conceding territory to the invaders with every sold home, every abandoned lot.
The city doesn’t pursue illegals creating Tijuana North within the city limits because they are afraid of being called racist. To many people, there’s nothing worse than being labeled racists, it’s even more of a scarlet letter than being considered a child molester...
And it won’t end until white guilt is absolutely rejected and righteous anger replaces it. You work hard to create your little sanctuary, you should be willing to do whatever is necessary to preserve it for yourself and your families.
But I have little hope that the brain washed millions who sit around breathlessly watching American Idle(spelling intentional) and CSI Podunk will resist the steady slide of America into the barrio.
I’m not an expert on such matters, but somehow I wouldn’t expect gangs to just use “510” without something else, and I wouldn’t expect swear words being used in the fashion shown. I suspect that the vandals are probably wannabes or maybe even someone who just had a grudge against one of the victims.
My great grandmother lived in Dayton. I have many fond memories of the place as a kid.

Considering that the 3rd Worlders are easier to coerce/control/subjugate than the average red-blooded American and can be used as a shadow army of sorts to engulf, destroy and bring to heel other outlying areas, I would say that the Government is having it pretty good. They get to grow government on the backs of needy illegals and welfare mavens while subjecting everyone else to a politically-correct police state aimed at preserving the new Serf/Noble relationship.
There will come a day when people will stop caring about being called “racist”. Then fit will hit the shan and the righteous anger pent up by the dams of diversity and multiculturalism will break open. I think the illegals would want to be back in Mexico when that day comes.
