Democrats and Republicans joined together to strip a pet project of Rep. John Murthas (D-Pa.) from the 2009 intelligence authorization bill the same project Democrats defended last year.
The Murtha earmark, $23 million for the National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC), was one of a handful of pet projects eliminated from the bill in a lopsided 17-4 vote. Several Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee joined with Republicans to support the amendment, which was sponsored by Rep. Pete Hoekstra (Mich.), the panels ranking Republican.

Thanks for the post and ping, Smooth.

To be added to the Murtha Watch ping list please notify myself or RedRover.
Having been to Johnstown a couple of times for the Murtha “technology fair” (Memorial Day?), I agree that damn Drug Intelligence Center is a real porker.
Come-with-the-Cash Murtha will surely be looking for some payback on this. It can’t sit well with his owners either.
LOL!
I think that should probably read would not and he wouldn't because Murtha has got to be looking for blood.
Nice one!
When is somebody going to nix Murtha? The guy needs to be tossed out of Congress.
Excerpt:
Earlier this year, Team 4's Paul Van Osdol tried to ask him about it.
Van Osdol: "Congressman, what about the National Drug Intelligence Center?"
Murtha: "You're from WTAE?"
Van Osdol: "Yes, sir. What are you going to do to secure funding for that sir?"
When Van Osdol tried to keep asking questions, Murtha's public affairs person tried to block WTAE's camera.
Van Osdol: "Congressman, can you respond to the criticism that people say NDIC is just a pork barrel program?"
Murtha: "No comment. How's that?"
The House Intelligence Committee rejected the NDIC by a 17-4 vote. It's possible the $23 million for the center could be reinserted into the intelligence funding bill on a floor amendment.
A spokesman for Murtha said, "We will try to work it out."

Thanks for the ping..
You know Murtha will work his pork into the intelligence bill or some other critical appropriations bill...the vote was 17-4, wonder why the vote was so lopsided- that is amazing
I’m sure he’ll try. It’ll be real interesting if it comes up on the House floor again, he might not have the support from his cronies he had before. :-)
Off for the night, Jaz. Tomorrow there be more dragons.
Hell has to be freezing over.
