A soldier holds back relatives trying to enter a collapsed school building

The parents of an earthquake victim mourn near their child's body at the site of a collapsed school building in Dujiangyan

A boy is rescued from the debris of a collapsed building after an earthquake in Dujiangyan, Sichuan province May 13, 2008.

A student helps a schoolmate trapped in the ruins of a collapsed school building in the earthquake-affected Beichuan county, Sichuan province

Soldiers carry a wounded person out of the debris of a collapsed building in the earthquake-affected Beichuan county
DUJIANGYAN, China The children who were considered fortunate escaped with a broken bone or a severed limb. The others, hundreds of them, were carried out to be buried, and their remaining classmates lay crushed beneath the rubble of the schoolhouse.
Theres no hope for them, said Lu Zhiqing, 58, as she watched uniformed rescue workers trudge through mud and rain toward the mound of bricks and concrete that had once been a school. Theres no way anyones still alive in there.
Little remained of the original structure of the school. No standing beams, no fragments of walls. The rubble lay low against the wet earth. Dozens of people gathered around in the schoolyard, clawing at the debris, kicking it, screaming at it. Soldiers kept others from entering.
A man and woman walked away from the rubble together. He sheltered her under an umbrella as she wailed, My child is dead! Dead!

Prayers up......
floods...hurricanes...cyclones...earthquakes.......it’s coming...
This is a country with a One Child policy, they have lost their only child.
I never thought of it from that angle. Just damn.
Nonsense.
Truly sad.....
“The wise will understand.”
A sad but true observation.
says you.
says you.
Prayers.
Was it ever thus?
Lord have mercy.
GOD BLESS CHINA

You may want to Goggle the following and perhaps this may give you an explanation of what is to come Great historic events have a way of forecasting a shadow
Yes HE is!
God that is so terribly sad...i just cant imagine how hellish that would be. schools getting hit is just a nightmare, and a nightmare that keeps going...
Bovine feces.
You are either too young, or too ignorant, to understand what it meant to grow up under the shadow of The Bomb, when grotesque apocalypse was a very real possibility. The "prophecy" teachers, like the WND columnist who recycles books and spouses as each is overtaken by time, soberly assured us that Soviet Communism was ordained by God to take over the world, to become the "red dragon" that would usher in the final days. God took down communism overnight -- and Hal's team did not, you'll note, rejoice in His mighty works, offer Him praise, and gratefully lay hold on life. No, these know-nothings immediately dropped turds in the punch bowl, and began frantically scurrying around looking for fresh antichrist candidates to cringe before.
And do you think God was pleased?
China, in case you didn't notice, is coming out from their long Communist nightmare, making incremental progress towards a new era of prosperity and liberty. It's not uncommon for Americans to spend a few years in China, teaching English and Bible. I know at least six people who have done this. You probably know some as well.
God is at work today, and I want to be in on what He is up to, not spiraling into my own navel, not scribbling new imaginary maps of anticipated doom. To repeat my tagline,
Winners and lovers shape the future.
Whiners and losers try to predict it.
And which of these parties, do you think, works for God's glory, and enhances the credibility of His gospel? Those who take seriously the current reign of the Great King, or those who daydream about coming horrors?
I take it you don’t believe the Bible.
Every year there are floods, hurricanes, cyclones, tornados.
>>>floods...hurricanes...cyclones...earthquakes
The price one pays for living on a dynamic planet. But the alternative is a sterile dead world.
"There are no words to convey what these parents must be going through...... "
Yes, that type of grief is universal in nature. No matter what the language difference may be, no translation is needed.
ping to self
Horrific. Prayers for all those tiny souls.
May God bless and comfort the Chinese people.
floods...hurricanes...cyclones...earthquakes....Hillary...its coming
Agreed.
It’s going to be tough for awhile.
Just out of curiosity, why would you ascribe unbelief to a six day creationist, inerrantist, Calvinist Christian? Who also embraces the defining creeds of the faith? I believe so firmly in the Bible that I home school my children, belong (and tithe) to a Bible-preaching evangelical church, and seek to evangelize Muslim students.
Unlike the one I was responding to, I refuse to serve as an unpaid cheerleader for the "other team." Does my desire to serve the victorious and presently reigning Great King make me less of a Christian than those who prefer a neutered guru, a "personal" (domesticated) savior?
For the record, I believe the Bible, including Genesis 1. And Psalm 2. And I am aghast at the perversion Scofield unleashed upon God's people, a plague of apathy, hopelessness, resignation to evil, and apprehension towards the future.
That picture is horrifying. Tears from this mom.
Oh —— so very very sad - Dear God, comfort the parents and families of these children who died in this earthquake...
Heart goes out to the Chinese people, especially those who have lost their children ..........but to all who have suffered and are suffering in this terrible tragedy.
It bears repeating. May God bring comfort to those who mourn at the passing of loved ones and friends, especially the children.
READ THIS... (I found it odd that all the buildings around the school were still standing in the photos but the school collapsed killing some 900+ children)
‘This is not a natural disaster - this is done by humans’
Distress turns to anger at Chinese soldiers and officials over the response to the huge earthquake
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/may/13/china.naturaldisasters3?gusrc=rss&feed=networkfront
just a snippet...
The distraught couple’s neighbour, still half-hoping for a sight of her daughter, burst out angrily: “Why isn’t there money to build a good school for our kids? Chinese officials are too corrupt and bad.
“These buildings outside have been here for 20 years and didn’t collapse - the school was only 10 years old. They took the money from investment, so they took the lives of hundreds of kids. They have money for prostitutes and second wives but they don’t have money for our children. This is not a natural disaster - this is done by humans.”
Ohhhh- am not surprised - the evil that is communism knows no bounds in its destruction and devastation.....
Am surprised that this person spoke out so boldly of the corruption of their “rulers” whose loathesome selfishness (which is basically what communism is - selfishness) contributed to the collapse of the school building and the deaths of these little ones!!!
May God take this trauma and tragedy and perhaps use it to bring down the communist tyrants out of power in China finally....FREEDOM FOR THE CHINESE PEOPLE!
(thanks for that informative post by the way)
AND drought...our town has NOT had a drop of rain since February! :(
Horrible. What a tragedy.
OMG - Have you seen the new video on CNN of the earthquake?
It was taken at the airport some 55 miles from the epicenter.
It is amazing, very violent, and terrifying!
Not sure if I would ascribe unbelief, but I would certainly lean towards the words “whited sepulchre”, my proud little Pharisee.
no haven’t seen that - will check it out - how horrible it must have been....
can you give a link?
I went to CNN and can’t find it.
I can’t find it either....
On TV - regular CNN (not HNN) - they will show it again at the top of the hour.
I wish they would shut up when they show it because the noise level is very loud also.
Thanks. Will try to catch it.
they have been showing it about twice every hour.
U tube may have it up now
ok, thanks - but won’t watch cnn....but know it’s bad. Will check you tube later.
