Such is the case when it comes to John McCain's general election strategy for defeating Barack Obama. For weeks now, the Arizona senator's campaign has been laying its cards on the table, spelling out a strategy for November. Here's a look at seven of their key strategies.
1. Paint Obama as a False Messiah
The big debut for this message came on the night of the Virginia and Maryland primaries. Mike Huckabee was still in the race, but the McCain campaign wanted to pivot towards the general election. So at an Alexandria Holiday Inn, McCain offered these words: "I do not seek the presidency on the presumption that I am blessed with such personal greatness that history has anointed me to save my country in its hour of need." The code was not hard to break. McCain was calling out Obama as an unfulfilled prophet, built up on lofty rhetoric and personal charisma. McCain's advisors have been hammering the theme ever since, privately speaking skeptically of Obama's big crowds and "Yes We Can" ritual chants. "The lofty rhetoric," said Steve Schmidt, McCain's message man, on a recent flight. "It's nonsense." This will not let up. McCain's campaign calculates that it must put a dent in Obama's powerful aura to keep a Republican in the White House.
2. Work, Woo and Win the Referees
McCain's willingness to parry and thrust with the press is already the stuff of campaign legend. And if the candidate has his way, the legend will only grow.
3. Meet With the People, and Force Obama to Follow
4. Claim the High Road Without Leaving the Low Road
5. Use A Vice President to Temper The Age Issue
6. Make Inroads Among Traditional Democratic Voters
7. Rely on the Historic RNC Advantage

2) ?????
3) ?????
4) PROFIT!!!
8. Convince Bob Barr not to run.
8. Out metrosexual him.
If McCain quit the race, he would increase my favorable rating of him by 1,000%.
Well,it would be easy to beat Obama, how will he beat Clinton?
McCain beats himself.
You have got to be kidding. This is sarcasm right?!!!
This is all we have, oh gosh.........
LOL, McRino drinks his own milkshake.
Are you kidding us? This guy is not interested in winning the whitehouse. If he is, how can you square all the utterly stupid things he has done to piss off the base of the republican party. These guys are supposed to be extremely intelligent people, running these campaigns, and this is what they come up with? It stinks I tell ya.
All McCain has to do is stay alive. Osama can’t win and Hitlery will make sure of it. Osama can’t live up to the messiah hype and probably couldn’t win FL or TX if the election was tommorow...by Nov he will be toast.
Bumped for Reality. ;)
LOL!
lol! I believe the saying is: "Chickens coming hime to roost". :-)
Pretty funny!
I think there should be a #8
Obama likes to push the idea he’ll fix what he sees as the ills of this country but he never does “articulate” just how does he plan on achieving those so called goals. I think McCain should work on seeing how he can force Obama to tell the people of this county how he plan to go about it.
I believe either Obama can’t come up with anything or what he does come up with would be so distasteful the American people would reject him outright.
Example: Obama wants to “level the playing field”. I wonder how he might plan on accomplishing such a task? On who’s backs would he achieve this?
Maybe we will find the answer to this if you anit-McCain people had your way.
Two steps:
1. Run as a conservative.
2. Tell the truth about Hussein.
The tv show Profit? I watching it on cable, excellent. Too bad it was axed after a few episodes.
#7 makes me laugh.
Hey, the admiral's widdle kid finally said something I agree with!!
