THE GRIM TRUTH ON GITMO

ABDULLAH Saleh al-Ajmi was a Kuwaiti soldier who deserted to fight with the Taliban in Afghanistan after the United States invaded that country in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Coalition forces captured him in the Tora Bora region - believed to be the hideout of Osama bin Laden - designated him an "enemy combatant" and shipped him out to the US prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

There he remained until Nov. 3, 2005 - when, despite substantial evidence of his terrorist ties and a history of aggressive behavior at Gitmo, he was sent back to Kuwait.

Al-Ajmi could have crawled back under the rock from which he'd emerged. Instead, he made his way illegally to Syria, then crossed the border into Iraq.

I understand argument that detainment without recourse to civil courts is an abandonment of America's principles. I may even admire the stiff spine of someone taking this principled stand come what may. But the other side of the argument is rarely presented, and this NY Post piece will not change that.

That's the lunacy of the MSM -- to treat as alien worldviews of great common sense, and those moreover reflecting the standing policy of their country.

Now comes word from Al Arabiya television news in Dubai that he blew himself up in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul - one of a series of three suicide bombings that killed at least seven people in the last week of April.

I wonder what the terrorist from Gitmo body count is now?

If I understand you correctly, you seem to be taking some offense at the article.

By the end of the article, it acknowledged that even though the situaion at Gitmo isn’t ideal, it is none the less most likely the best we can do for now.

I don’t find any disagreement with that stance.

Do you disagree? Are you gleening something more than I am from the article?

Nah, I agree with NY Post article -- it's a no-brainer to me. Sorry, I obscurely jumped to a different question: why is this opinion piece so unusual? Answer: the wall-to-wall liberal establishment opinion in the MSM which tends to blanket the country in ignorance.

Great. Glad to realize we’re on the same page there. I agree.

Thanks.
