New polls Monday predicted landslide wins for Hillary Clinton in two looming primaries, despite pressure for her to cede to Barack Obama's mathematical stranglehold on the Democratic White House race.
The former first lady, who is vowing to battle on even as Obama turns his sights on Republican presumptive nominee John McCain, led her foe by 36 points in the latest poll out of West Virginia, which votes Tuesday.
In Kentucky, which holds its primary on May 20, Clinton was up 58 to 31 percent, in another poll suggesting Obama faces an uncomfortable two weeks.
Huge wins for Clinton in both states will do little to loosen Obama's mathematical advantage in the epic Democratic nominating contest.
Lopsided loses in the two states could underscore the Illinois senator's struggle to win over white, working-class voters, which could be a problem in November's election.
Arizona senator McCain, who was Monday giving a major speech on global warming, and Obama are increasingly fighting the early shots in the general election campaign.
The Obama campaign has launched a 50-state voter registration drive and both sides are trying to woo independent voters and are plotting battle plans to be rolled out as soon as the Democratic race is over.
Highlighting his growing focus on November, Obama meanwhile laid plans to campaign on Tuesday in crucial general election swing state Missouri, after stops in West Virginia and Kentucky.
Clinton meanwhile poured her energy into eve of the primary campaigning in West Virginia.
A Suffolk University poll ahead of the primary had Clinton leading Obama by 60 percent to 24 percent.
David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center said the poll was a poor omen for Obama in the general election.
"Barack Obama may have to write off West Virginia come November," he said.

I am ahead by 36 points in West Virginia and 27 points in Kentucky
because white working-class voters hate Obama!
Showdown in Denver!
Two states in the McCain column ... unless he wants to outlaw whiskey, tobacco and coal.
I actaully think its these kind of states that Osama will obomba in November.
Hillary has B.O.
I may have to switch to that “lite-butter” popcorn!
plan on the MSM, to show west virginia, and kentucky, in the most negative way, in order to minimize the effect on the choosen one. basically it will be “this is what you support, by voting for hillary, complete with “dueling banjos” in the background
Aren’t these the two states Joe Kennedy bought for Jack’s election?
This is like the old time battles for leadership among the Soviet politburo...”Khruschev is ahead. No Malenkov..” “Comrade Malenkov is being assaulted by capitalist pigs encouraged by Khruschev.” That's what we have here. And the modern day Soviet media ultimately loves them both. They just can't decide between an America hating Muslim and a man hating feminist. But they will, and then old McCain will be boiled in oil.
This is either a great parody or Huma has some real competition:

Which is a shame, because it is a beautiful state with lots of great people - never had a bad time anytime I've visited.
But that doesn't change general perceptions.
What most people don't realize is how white KY is: KY has a smaller percentage of black residents than any of the states it borders except WV (OH, IN, IL, MO, TN, VA).
KY is a gimme for Clinton but most people don't perceive it that way.
West Virginia: The only state that Arkansas can make fun of.
Most of the states won by Obama are Red states and will stay red in Nov. I can’t figure out how he gets even close to 270 electoral votes.
Hillary expects Obama will be a disaster as president. Hillary will be the 2012 Heroine that will show the Democrats how wrong they were to be taken over by the left. I suspect there will be Republicans in 2012 who will also be showing their party how wrong they were to be taken over by the left.
I think the next four years will be less important than what shakes out after.
Mrs. Clinton leads in WV....the state that’s kept Robert Byrd in office for decades. Hmmmm...how DO I connect these dots?
Ah, but its not about second now is it...
This is the problem.... Dems don’t believe in rules, even their own.
The Democratic primary is set up intentionally such that if no candidate has locked up the nomination by the convention tha the super delegates decide, and they are not there, nor are they obligued to simply rubber stamp who won the “popular vote”.
However, since the party has pandered to idiots, and spent 8 years riling up the dregs with their “selected not elected” line, they are going to have a difficult time letting the rules and process play out as it should.
Face it, if it was purely a popular vote contest, there is no need for super delegates. They are there for a reason, and that’s to pick the best CANDIDATE for the party, not rubber stamp the victor of the popular vote.
Now, everyone thats got an ounce of intellect functioning and understands politics knows that fauxbama cannot win a general election in a 2 way race, he can’t. He’s not gotten support, even among democrats, outside of the blacks, kids and limosine liberal types.. that’s it, that’s all he’s got. And issues that play to those groups, are not going to win him the election.
The superdelegates and party leaders have to know that Fauxbama is DOA in the general, and HillBilly for all her faults is the one who will put up a stronger campaign... but they have spent so much time manipulating and pandering and playing identity politics, they know if they don’t give it to Fauxbama, they risk alienating the black vote, not only for this election, but for a long time... and with them being a 90% D voting block for them, they can’t do it.
So they will put him forward anyway, and watch him implode like the not ready for prime time marxist that he is.
HillBilly for all her issues, is making a legitimate and obvious argument. She will make the race more competative that Fauxbama ever will. The question is however, will the party powers that be be willing to show some nads and make the better of 2 bad choices, or will they be the cowards the Dems have always been.
If Obama should win in November at least we should be done with Hillary as she will be too old for a 2016 run - she won’t age gracefully !! She and Bill will do whatever they need to do to insure Obama loses in November as she remains delusional that she could win in 2012!
Put nothing past these two POS. They have had the good fortune of many convenient deaths in their sordid careers - what's one more unfortunate accident or murder.
Interesting map.
So in big wins, it is Obama 21 states to 2 states.
Hillary has the edge in close races 9 to 4 - thanks no doubt to the master of chaos.
She doesn’t have to drop out regardless of how she does in the remaining states until he can secure the nomination. He can’t secure the nomination with delegate wins, so she is in until the end.
But then again, neither can she meaningfully close the gap.
The small number of blacks in KY are concentrated in the Ohio river towns, and they don’t even come close to having a majority in any of them. Even the neer do well towns facing heavily black Cincinatti (Covington, Newport, etc.) are still majority white, and have growing hispanic populations to boot.
