The law finally caught up with Al Capone, the early 20th Century gangster who terrorized Chicago, when the IRS put him behind bars for tax evasion. They have been living up to their fame ever since.
Most recently, Wesley Snipes, of Blade glory, received a three-year prison sentence for trying to cheat the government out of its well-deserved tax dollars. Now none other than the Rev. Al Sharpton is on their black list. The famous civil rights leader and his nonprofit group, the National Action Network, owe $1.5 million in back taxes and associated fees. The NAN has been negotiating (read: buying time) with the federal government over the size of the debt while they have been trying to pay off the pretty sum they owe for not maintaining workers compensation and unemployment insurance. Ironic for a group that seeks to promote one standard of justice and decency for all people.
What a shame he didnt make it past the presidential primaries last time around. The country needs more honest people like that.

Throw his ass in jail ...
How many of the Founders were imprisoned by the new government for tax evasion?
;-)
That's our FIRST reaction, of course - but this is one of those "when they came for..." deals.
Dude! You can't put Al on a black list!
Excuse me while I puke!!
Idiocy. Sharton is a crook. A nasty, race-baiting, tax-cheating crook perpetuating and living off the misery of his people.
however, because the IRS is Chicken $hit to be called racist they will not do anything. They will treat this the same way Jessie Jackson was treated. In other words they will not do jack because they are scared to be labeled racist and lose their jobs. How pathetic.
"Well-deserved"???? WTH did the government do to "deserve" any of that money? (Or mine, for that matter!)
No sympathy for tax dodges, but the government doesn't "deserve" the money. It DEMANDS it.
Four?
Now none other than the Rev. Al Sharpton is on their black list. The famous"notorious" civil rights leader and his nonprofit group, the National Action Network, owe $1.5 million in back taxes and associated fees
I’m sure it’s just racism.
They’re pickin’ on the black man for having too much money and not knowin’ his place.
Or, he’s just a “typical liberal person”, a hypocrite that wants everyone else to pay for the gov’t programs that he verbally supports.
Not only “demands” it - it comes down to a gun to your head if you don’t comply. That’s the way ALL laws need to be looked at, because that’s the inherent threat behind any government policy.
Had to wait a few generations till everyone that would take umbrage was dead or killed off.
I guessed, obviously! ;-P
If anyone ever loses Al Sharpton, they'll be able to find him real easy with your description. :-)
I thought the entire American revolution was an act of tax evasion?
Throwing tea into the harbor is an act of aggression, not evasion.
Typical liberal hypocrisy.
Careful Lucia, you almost said that He Who Wishes To Be Revered, Al, may have possibly, somehow maybe, according to some people and various opinions, could be seen as, doing, in some views, wrong, but that’s not established yet.
Of course your last paragraph sums it up, you think the great man should practice what he preaches. A lot of us think he shouldn’t preach at all because of his practices.
Ever hear of the Whiskey Rebellion? No, I don’t mean vomiting and a hangover.
I heard some of the Founders routinely practiced tax evasion in their businesses when the taxes got too oppressive. There’s one specific case I’m trying to remember right now, but it escapes me.
The Whiskey Rebellion, Frie's Rebellion and Shay's Rebellion were all around the same time period.
"A little rebellion now and then is a good thing. It is a medicine necessary for the sound health of government. God forbid that we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion." - Thomas Jefferson to a friend, on Shay's Rebellion
