She once described herself as "the most famous person you know very little about." But as she careens across the country in a desperate attempt to rescue her campaign, America is coming to know Hillary Clinton all too well.
The tenacity that even critics praised suddenly looks tawdry. The persistence against impossible odds appears anything but noble. Long after the party is over, Clinton's refusal to go home is taking on the trappings of a sad spectacle.
Her inability to accept defeat is not, it seems clear, about public service or even politics. It is merely personal.
With Barack Obama on a glide path to the Democratic nomination - he has insurmountable leads in delegates and popular votes - Clinton's cringe-inducing performance is doing what her harshest critics never could. It has ripped away any pretense that she actually stands for something.
The conventional portrait of her as an unflinching, devoted partisan has been proven wrong. Partisanship, it turns out, was just another fig leaf hiding a singular allegiance.
Politics has been a male narcissists' playpen, but Hillary is showing she doesn't take a backseat to any of the boys, including her hubby. Consider a few of her recent zig-zags in an incoherent bid to outflank Obama.
A year ago, she affected a bad Southern drawl as she quoted a black hymn in an Alabama church. Now she emphasizes her blue-collar roots as she summons cameras to record her downing a shot with factory workers in Pennsylvania.
In the blink of a campaign eye, she went from Rosa Parks to Rosie the Riveter. Did she care if we noticed, or did she assume we wouldn't?
She once likened the House of Representatives to a "plantation" in front of black audience, but now touts her base of white support...

And Obama is better? PLEASE!!!
I’m sure he wishes they both could lose, just like the rest of us.
you miss the clintons?
LOL!!! great line!
Well ..... DUHHHHH.
Who said Obama is any better?
We can enjoy the demise of the squalid and vicious Clintonistas without praising Obama.
Let’s see Billary crash and burn and then we can watch Obama get exposed as the far-left liar and fraud artist we have seen him to be.
I absolutely wish for both Obama and Clinton to lose. But, as the party system we have would have it, only one of them can lose at a time. So we can enjoy this and look for Obama to go down to defeat in the general election, which he will.
...and yet, he won't come out of the Dems' Denver convention with their nomination.
What’s going to be even better than the clinton collapse is the idea encapsulated by the aphorism “Be nice to people on your way up, you’ll meet them again on the way down”.
Seeing the clintons lose is one thing. Seeing the people who they kicked in the teeth return the favor is going to be even sweeter.
She’s manically obsessed, definitely not presidential material.
You put it best. This is a beautiful thing, seeing Hil and Bill go down in flames.

"Up Sun up! Come up I say!
I was once coached by a boss I greatly respect. He enforced that learning new skills was the only reason to keep an employee around. Hillary has not learned a new skill since the 12th grade.
For many years, I thought the only way to crush the 'Toon machine would be to defeat the Witch in a presidential election.
I was wrong. Yes, it took a political defeat, but one suffered at the hands of her fellow Rats is what did them in and destroyed the 'Toon brand (and with it, all signs of future political life, at least beyond NY).
Had she quit just a little sooner, a little more graciously, had her performance been just a tad bit more acceptable and competent, the Witch might have made it onto the ticket as VP or been able to wrangle some other high-profile slot in any Obama administration (please, God, no).
But as it is she is almost universally despised or---just as bad in politics---pitied.
The only thing I'm waiting to see is whether she does indeed "work her heart out" for Obama in the coming months. I'm not betting on it.
I don’t ‘get’ the humor in that one .. Rosie the Riveter represented American women who took to the workforce to do ‘unladylike’ work during WWII when their men were in battle ...and that was every bit as noble as Rosa Parks refusing to go tot he back of the bus.
Is she wearing a tent in that photo?
Yes, he’ll be the nominee. And Algore will be the VP candidate.
Hillary is finished. 2112 will never happen. She may not even be re-elected Senator. Let’s just hope she is so bitter as to use all her resources to destroy B. Hussein’s candidacy.
It’s Bush’ fault!
never underestimate the clintons.
Don’t forget most of the current crop of reporters has NEVER seen a real convention.
A true convention can be a real political fight with deals etc.
What I predict is storm of skeletons starting to flow.
Also don’t forget Senate Leader Clinton can cripple (revenge) any obama administration.
Did you see the SNL bit last night? It was a classic example of political assasination using TV as the weapon.
De-ass is one sorry sight on her way to de-feet.
DOES ANYONE KNOW THE RACIAL BREAKDOWN OF THE SUPERDELEGATES??
Hilary 273
Obama 273
If the superdelegates are breaking along racial lines it gives argument to the Democrat Party racial divide.
That is the Dem definition of having "fire in the belly" for campaigning for the office. And, she is certainly NOT presidential material.
Well frankly, if we have to have a Democrat president, I’d prefer Hillary to Obama. Obama is either a true post modern socialist or an empty suit who being handled by far left advisors.
Where does a Muslim, who was "NOT" raised in America during his formative years, get this kind of backing?
Someone needs to wake up and get a huge dose of reality here.

Remembering her answer to the sniper story....the caption should read: "SO what's the big deal? I lie all the time.....I mean,I mispeak all the time...It's a vast Obama conspiracy"
First and foremost, I think McCain will win. Besides, Obama is weak and if he winds up in office, it would be a lightweight counterbalance to the not-as-lightweight Repubs in Congress.
FMCDH(BITS)

..(Hillary is thinking to herself)..."I hope they dart this one in white before the hood comes completely off her head"
Is it my imagination, or has all this negativism in the MSM toward HRC happened after Rush, Sean, and Mark started “endorsing” her against Obama? It’s like a knee jerk reaction by the MSM. Suddenly, Hillary is a Republican. I guess, relatively speaking, next to Obama, she is. And she looks like a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy Patriot next to Obama. I just can’t believe so many people are so anti-American.
Like the bad penny—the Clintons always come back. She may well be out now but think:
1. If Obama gets the nod to run and loses, she can say “see I told you so.”
2. If Obama wins and screws up (good guess) She can say “See I told you so” and run in 2012 to unseat him.
3. If McCain Wins and screws up she can play Backbench in the Senate and set herself for 2012.
4. She gets “cheated” out of the nomination in any way she can play Reagan in 1976 and lay the foundation for 2012.
5. She can run as an Independent or for the progressives as a 3rd Party and if Obama get caught in a scandal and if McCain stumbles or has a health problem she can win.
6. The only way she loses is if Obama or McCain turn out to be great presidents like Lincoln or FDR and I can’t really see that happening. She wins in most projected outcomes.
That’s right on the money, Enchante! First things first, enjoy hillary going down to an empty suit, but a black well spoken empty suit, is entertainment that one can normally only pray for and next, BO going down at the end of the day with the entire democrat party left wondering WTF happened?
Geez, no one here could have envisioned this sort of policital season toward a new POTUS. The democrats eating their own, the Clinton crew, going back to the bill days just “nuts” at so many levels, both in words and looks. WOOHOO!
Something tells me that you are right. It's not over quite yet.

Watching Cankles slide into the abyss is like adding sugar to maple syrup—SWEET! Realizing the very demographic the Clinton’s have pandered and sucked up to for years have rejected her like sour milk is especially satisfying.
The hildebeast has been feted and worshipped for a long time by the water carrying media. She has to be the most shocked of anyone at the way this has panned out. I've been waiting for the defeat of these two monsters ever since Bill and Hill went on Sixty Minutes to lie and obfuscate.
Nobody saw a new messiah coming out of the Dem primaries. Bill Clinton was their old one, and the press protected him with a force field of impenetrable worship. The only way Hillary could lose is to be thrown over the side by her own worshipers. The GOP isn't strong enough to beat her. We've rarely laid a hand on them. She would have beat the stuffing out of McCain.
But a black messiah. Now there's a new fresh angle for the Bolshevik press to run with. And it gives the GOP a chance, even though the press is going to fawn and gush all the way to November. I don't deny the media love for Obama. Since NC he's back on top and Hillary is even taking shots reserved for Republicans on SNL.
But unlike others here, I don't mind the Clintons being beaten up on. I have waited to see the end of Clintonism for many many years. It's the sickest disease ever to enter our political bloodstream. Put her away, Hussein.
wha’ r u smokin’?
The best part is knowing that Bill is largely responsible for her defeat.
McCain is going to have to sink that ship the hard way. But yes, watching the HMS Clinton sink slowly into the shark-infested deep is a sight to gladden the hearts of all freedom-loving men everywhere.
A lot of people on FR want eight more years. Read some of the CHAOS threads/arguments. Many here come out in the open and say the Clintons are the most preferable of the candidates.
I’m on your side, but I’ll believe it’s finally over when I hear her concession soeech (where she’ll cry, of course). Not one minute before.
soeech=speech

That’s okay, it was pretty complex.

I am betting on her working her heart out alright...for McCain! There is no way on this Earth she will lift one finger to help Obama.
