POLITICS: Barack Obama has already been "Swift-Boated"
Basebal Crank ^ | May 10, 2008

Posted on 05/11/2008 12:29:38 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

You know, one of the funny things about watching the Democrats is their alternation between fear and bravado about whether Republicans will "Swift Boat" their candidate this time around. Orwell once said that "The word Fascism has now no meaning except in so far as it signifies "something not desirable.'" This is roughly the way the Democrats use the term "Swiftboating" to suggest a political attack of thoroughgoing fraudulence and impropriety concocted out of whole cloth. Never mind that each and every one of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth was a combat veteran, including a number of highly decorated veterans; it's casually accepted that they were all liars, knaves and pawns.

But the irony of conducting this discussion in the future tense ignores the fact that, by any reasonable definition, Barack Obama has already been Swift-Boated. A true Swift-Boating proceeds in five predictable stages:

1. The Democrat makes some claim that forms the center of his appeal and convinces his followers on the left that he can reach out to voters in the middle.

Kerry: I served with honor. Thus, you can trust me on national security. Bring it on. That dog won't hunt. Go read Doug Brinkley's book.

Obama: I am a post-racial candidate. I will lead us beyond the age of race-baiting preachers and grievance-mongers. I'm also a religious man who will end the Democrats' secular fixation. Go read The Audacity of Hope.

2. The Democrat's own words are accurately quoted against him, his own actions and associations are turned back on him.

Kerry: The video of his Senate testimony. The Winter Soldier hoaxes he peddled. The Christmas in Cambodia nonsense.

Obama: Rev. Wright, the main who coined "Audacity of Hope," turns out to be just another race-baiting preacher. Obama sneers at other people's faith and has to flee from his own church one step ahead of a bitter gun-toting mob.

3. The Democrat stops answering questions and hopes the media will drop the story.

Kerry: Six weeks where his only interview or press conference was with Jon Stewart.

Obama: Hey, I answered eight questions. Let me eat my waffle. No more debates.

4. The Democrat and his supporters whine and screech about the unfairness of the thing.

Kerry: They questioned my patriotism!

Obama: Racists! Distractions from the Real Issue, which is not my words or my judgment but my...uh....

5. Denial.

Kerry: I'm a strong closer.

Obama: Hey, that was the primaries. Did I mention that John McCain was old?

It would be funny if somebody did a psychological flow-chart of the Democratic Presidential candidates. It would include defense mechanisms, wanting to be liked, and other such things. What is in the psychology of somebody who plagiarizes speeches, who tries to mold himself into a bi-partisan leader and thinks that bipartisanship is more important than being a leader, a passionate arguer of rights or any other “trivial” issues?

Well, there's always Michelle Obama, the gift that keeps on giving. Her speech last week should be as widely played as Rev. Wright. Americans are poor victims. No matter how hard you work, you just can't make it. Every time you think you are about to succeed, “they” move the bar on you. That's how “they” keep you divided. The average American is so busy working two jobs that don't pay the bills that you have no friends, no family, no ties to the community. No hope. No future. No wonder you're bitter.

As Hugh Hewitt remarked, “Who is she talking to? Albanians? No, Albanians are more hopeful than that!”

The libs want to believe Americans are ‘poor’, ‘ignorant’, ‘backwards’, and (for the conservatives) incapable of having any rational opinions of their own.

Especially in the British press. Oh my gosh. They had an article in the Independent recently that said american is in the midst of a depression.

If Americans are poor then what exactly is the rest of the world? Less than poor?

Obama has already “Swiftboated” himself and if he can actually get elected in Nov. with all his LIES about his radical racist background then the country is even further gone than I’d feared.....

Right on! I share your thoughts that this could be a terrible tragedy for our country if Obama gets elected.

I’m banking on the 527’s (Swift Boaters) to blow his racist behind out of the water. Obama cannot withstand a barrage of stiff questions on his racist political proclivities.

But if he finally does admit that he’s going to propose reparations if elected, and he then gets elected, it’s belly-up time for us all.

Soon there will be more dirt on Obama, I'm sure.

I don't believe the disclosure of Barack Obama's skeletons and his dissimulation can actually be described as "dirt."

It would be fair to call Larry Sinclair's allegations "dirt."

Look for a deeper and longer lasting relationship between Obama and Bill Ayers and Bill Ayers' family.

The other fact is that Obama tires easily - - he has used fatigue as an excuse for several campaign gaffs - - he'll do it again - - watch for it.

Obama simply hasn't got the physical stamina required for the job - - and nothing in his background has prepared him for the job - - nothing!

The average American is so busy working two jobs that don't pay the bills that you have no friends, no family, no ties to the community.

Michelle Obama is 100% right about this. The problem for her, and the Democrats, is that the "they" who move the bar is the Government, largely controlled by Democrats.

I'm the poor victim of high tax rates. My wife works two jobs, and every time I get a raise, they take more taxes (raise the bar). "They" keep us divided by telling the lazy ones who benefit from my labor that I'm the reason they don't have more, because I'm not paying my fair share.

I'm thinking the Obama campaign has the potential to effectively end all this White=Racist stuff. The double standard is simply too glaring, too grating and too self-serving. When every White (actually non-Black person), who decides not to vote for Obama and the 95% of Blacks vote for Obama on racial solidarity reasons are not racist, the end has come for the "Civil Rights" movement.

A gutsy Republican, yeah I know as rare as unicorns, would come out for ending affirmative action and all government by race. Oh, they'd support repealing sexual harassment laws, since they weren't applied to the last Democrat President, why should they be enforced on anyone else. They're exposed as simply liberal politics by other means.

What if though the American people in their lack of wisdom and embrace of popular culture ignore all the “evidence” against Oprah’s Obama as mere “politics” and still decide to vote Obama with the “hope” that he can “lower” fuel prices and bring forth “free” health care?

Liberals have embraced the express “fair share” since the 1930s, and then came the private United Way wanting its “fair share” too. And then there’s God’s “first fruits”. The American people are maxed out and still don’t understand.

You are so right: we might as well have nominated Elizabeth Dole, who could probably win NC against Oprah’s Obama, who proved very strong with the Carolina Tarheel folks.

Exactly, McPain looks like he fears a victory, for liberals will call him “racist” if he wins.

The essence of a Bob Dole strategy is to say nice things about liberals and hope they will be “fair” and vote for you. Won’t work, has it ever? Bob Dole said in 1996 that he did not like to get into “personal matters”, but the GOP primary voters fell for his “experience” line.

Soon there will be more dirt on Obama, I'm sure.

I reckon that Hillary thinks there will be more dirt on BHO soon, too. That might be what is keeping her in the race, even though she knows it's a lost cause. Or, could be that she is staying in to keep slinging mud on BHO in hopes he looses in the general election and that opens her up for another run in 2012. In the mean time, she will be the next Senate Majority Leader and her face will be on the tube every Sunday morning until she starts her campaign for 2012......

It's legitimate; it is taken from a larger AP photograph taken when Senator Obama visited Kenya:

You can find it featured in at least these three news stories:

Is it possible that they are watching the emotion, anger & hatred tear apart the Dems and they don’t want it to affect us quite yet? Let the Dems stay divided for the time being; there is still plenty of time before November to let ‘em have it. If we come down too hard at this point it will gain sympathy votes for Obama and could also pull back those Dems who are beginning to lean toward McCain; hit ‘em with the facts in mid-October, that’s a horse of a different color (no pun intended, really!).

"British press"

The Brit press also had many Britons wondering if every American house owner was in danger of losing their homes. My wife had to tell one of her sisters living in England (Norwich) that we hadn't lost our house and that only about two percent of home owners nationwide were affected by the crisis. My sister-in-law had been led to believe that most Americans were waiting for the axe to fall.

I have heard the British have their own housing problems. In other words there are no houses available (hardly).

I have also heard that what houses there are given to immigrants (immigrants take priority over native british).

Musn’t grumble or you are a racist.

"houses"

As you can imagine in a country with limited space houses are very expensive. My wife has a niece who bought a small apartment (or flat..which I've seen) that cost over one hundred and twenty thousand pounds equivalent to over two hundred and forty thousand dollars American. The Brits are doing very nicely thank you, and they don't complain. But everything costs about twice what we pay for a similar thing.
