As Obama gains superdelegates, Ted Kennedy says Hillary not fit for veep
New York Daily News ^ | May 9th 2008 | DAVID SALTONSTALL

Posted on 05/10/2008 6:13:27 AM PDT by fweingart

Hillary Clinton's superdelegate lead over Barack Obama has become razor thin. Ted Kennedy doesn't see a spot for Clinton on Obama's ticket.

Ted Kennedy, the aging liberal lion of the Democratic Party, took a nasty bite out of Hillary Clinton Friday, saying she shouldn't be vice president because the job requires "real leadership."

"I don't think it's possible," Kennedy, a Barack Obama supporter, told Bloomberg Television when asked about an Obama-Clinton ticket.

Kennedy added that he hoped Obama would choose a running mate who is "in tune with his appeal for the nobler aspirations of the American people.

"And I think if we had real leadership - as we do with Barack Obama - in the number-two spot as well, it'd be enormously helpful," he added.

A Kennedy spokesman later clarified that Kennedy thinks Clinton is "more than qualified" to be veep, but doesn't think it's likely "given the tenor of the campaign in recent weeks."

The slapdown came during another difficult day for Clinton, who is struggling to keep her campaign alive after Obama's better-than-expected showings in North Carolina and Indiana primaries last Tuesday.

The former First Lady trails Obama in the popular vote, in pledged delegates and in dollars raised. And Friday she all but lost her last remaining edge - her lead among superdelegates.

Another nine superdelegates - the party leaders who will ultimately pick the nominee - came out for Obama, while Clinton picked up just one.

That left the former First Lady with 271.5 superdelegates, to 271 for Obama, according to an Associated Press tally. Four months ago, she held a 169-63 lead.

"The election is over, everybody knows that," said Vernon Watkins, a California superdelegate who jumped to Obama. "Obama has won."

Despite the bleak outlook, Clinton stumped through Oregon and Kentucky, while husband Bill made five stops in West Virginia, which votes Tuesday.

She showed no signs of exiting gracefully.

"You've got to have a seamless health care system which covers every single person," Clinton said. "My plan does, my opponent's doesn't…. How can anyone run to be the Democratic nominee and not have a universal health care plan?"

Obama said nothing at all about Clinton, choosing instead to aim his barbs at presumptive GOP nominee John McCain during a swing through Oregon.

"There will be real differences on the ballot in November," said Obama. "And that's what elections should be about."

What won't be on the ballot, many top Democrats now seem to agree, will be Clinton's name. Among the important doubters Friday was Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.), a former senior advisor to President Clinton and now the fourth ranking Democrat in the House.

"At this point, Barack is the presumptive nominee," Emanuel told a New Yorker magazine forum in Manhattan. "Hillary can't win, but something could happen that Barack could lose."

...he hoped Obama would choose a running mate who is "in tune with his appeal for the nobler aspirations of the American people.

And who does this twit (being very kind here)think would be a great mate for this marxist-muslim-America-hating pile of human debris?

With Teddy Kennedy (Long Distance Chappaquiddick Swimmer and un-convicted manslaughterer) being the dean of the Democrat senators, it should be plain to all who have a properly functioning brain that this 'party' is un-American and out to finish up the job of ruining our nation.

I think teddy supports osamabam only to bring down the toons. How dare they hijack ‘his’ party?!?!?!?!? When the toons took over, teddy lost part of his ‘prestige/power’ because it was no longer the ‘kennedy’ party.

I'd like to know what Senators are running this year. I'd guess this could be bad enough to have carry over to the Senate and House.

Umm... but thats the opposite of what he actually said...

I wonder if a republican can get away with re-writing their words after the fact like the Oldsmobile submarine commander here (rehetorical question, I actually know the answer...)

Since Teddy has fried his brain with barrels of booze (and drugs, too, no doubt) his memory fails to serve him.

He has forgotten Vince's ride to Marcy Park.

Someone might drill holes in his yacht.

Teddy get 15 yards for piling on for this one.

This is such a nice morning news story. Amazing how loser RAT politicians are each picking their precise time to give payback to the Clintons. If she goes down with a stake through the heart, watch for a few of the RATS to find a way to send Bill a little “love” as well.

He must be pushing Ann’s bro,Barney Frank, for the job.

what Obama needs on his ticket is GRAVITAS.

Whatever happened to GRAVITAS? And, who in the Dem party has GRAVITAS? Mitchell? Rendell? Bayh? Theoretically the latter two as Clinton supporters could give the illusion of bringing the two sides together.

But, just as McCain needs someone younger who’s in touch with the party base that he’s turned off, Obama needs someone who has more than two lines to his resume.

Obama would be crazy to put her on the ticket. He couldn’t find a worse person. She would gain him nothing, and Obama’s life insurance premiums would go through the roof.

Obama’s best pick, if he wants to win, would be Bill Richardson. Richardson would head off McCain in the western states, and be a bridge to the Latino vote, which Obama is naturally lacking. The worst part of this would be listening to several more months of demographic politics and outright racism on the part of the democrats.

Richardson would be a great pick and would surely ensure the Trojan Horse Muslim's defeat.

With his greasy hair and ratty-looking beard and his very thin resume (although thicker than O'Bama's) he'd sink the ticket for certain.

So, Kennedy want the VP slot I guess.

Well, we need to continue to get the word out, all over this country and particularly in the battleground states that Barack, who is Hussein, Obama, is the absolute apex of the domestic enemy, subversive, anti-American movement in this country.

Polished in a prepared speech, charismatic in his presentation, nonetheless, underneath it all lies a smoldering cauldron of marxism, bigotry, and black liberation theology that is the enemy of America and its traditional values.

THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH - OBAMA'S CIRCLE OF FRIENDS AND SUPPORT

THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH - BLACK LIBERATION THEOLOGY AND OBAMA'S CHURCH

THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH - BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA

One to watch this year is Carl Levin D-MI. He was a big part of moving up the MI primary and the RATS are ticked off because their votes wont count. He could fall this year as Michigan goes red.

McCain is polling several points ahead of Osama Obama in Mi now.

His like Bill's, Hill's and the rest of the Democraps are the most boring, inane prattles one is likely to ever hear.

They go on and on and on and say absolutely nothing, but do manage to insert some subliminal suggestions along the way about raising taxes and soaking the filthy rich Americans who comprise 1% of the population.

I've listened to many of them in their entirety.

To you and me, who are acutely aware of what he represents and stand four squarte against it, what you say is true. But to those moonbats who swoon over his every word, and who have been raised and educated in the public day-care and indoctrination centers, and who did not have parents and loved ones to deprogram them, he is somethig entirely different.

To the libs, to the ideologues who know exactly what Obama represents, and to those living off the largess of those of us who work, this guy is spouting emotional, marxist blather that greases their skids.

Teddy has been pissed at Hillary for praising LBJ for getting the 1964 Civil Rights Act accomplished and not his brother JFK.

At an event in Dover, N.H., Clinton supporter Francine Torge introduced her highness saying, "Some people compare one of the other candidates to John F. Kennedy. But he was assassinated. And Lyndon Baines Johnson was the one who actually" signed the civil rights bill into law.

Clinton also said on the same day: "Dr. [Martin Luther] King's dream began to be realized when President Johnson passed the Civil Rights Ac. It took a president to get it done."

She really put a bug up Ted's rear end it seems. lol
