"MOOREFIELD, W.VA. -- In Hardy County, Democrats outnumber Republicans more than 2 to 1. But there is little enthusiasm for Barack Obama in this mountainside enclave, a portent of trouble for the Illinois senator in next week's West Virginia primary and the general election beyond."

I live in the area, the hillbilly now has a couple of tech degrees, a new diesel truck, rifles worth more than money and a general distrust of things in general.
Rudder,
Hello, In three weeks The wife and I are trailering my harley to southern W.Va. where we plan to ride some of the scenic by ways. Also plan to go to Summersville to Dominics Italian Chop HOuse.
Can you make any suggestions for our travel there other than the Bridge and New River?
Thanks
Ahhhh... family!
My guess is that Hillary Clinton wins WV by 30-40%. It won’t matter though. The total vote in the WV RAT primary will be about 500k votes, and that’s given pretty big voter turnout. Their are only 28 delegates at stake. With a 30% to 40% win, Hillary will come out closing the gap by about 150k votes on the pop. total and about seven delegates. She will still be significantly behind in both categories.
A little cold water shower for the ratmedia. They KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ANYTHING except what they write themselves when they quote each other, so they are shocked that West Virginia would turn away from their candidate barack mcgovern. They willfully blind themselves to the fact that Bush turned WV in 2000 held it with even bigger numbers in 2004 and it is now a Red state at the presidential level.
By offering barack mcgovern, the rat is insuring it will be a Red state again on Nov 4.
This is what passes for journalism today. And these jerks wonder why their circulation is dropping.
Nonetheless it will serve as a real cold shower for the Barak Hussein Obama maniacs. This could easily reflect the results of the general election in November on a national scale.
Not really. The Democrats haven't take West Virginia since 1996 and I don't expect them to take it in 2008. Regardless of who the nominee is.
I can make a suggestion. Don’t go over the New Reiver Gorge Bridge. Instead, go from Fayetteville to Ansted through Chimney Corner. It will take a lot longer, but the view along the whole way is worth it.
I’ve been to the New River Bridge a few times and white water rafted below it a few years back.
Wife and I will take your suggestion,
Thanks

Grat comment about the Ratmedia. Outstandingly good article on the Dinosauer MSM here: http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/story.html?id=6500c30b-9b56-480e-977e-27a49919242c&p=1
Just kidding.
LOVE your tagline. What a hoot!
What’s a [non-Drudge report alert]?
Do you think Obama had a shot in WVA to begin with?...
*But there is little enthusiasm for Barack Obama in this mountainside enclave*
Due to Racism, no doubt!
It would have been interesting if the calendar was set up differently, and Hillary had won Indiana and WVA huge on the same night, then won Kentucky before N.Carolina, or if N. Carolina had been much earlier and “didn’t exist” right now.
All the vote totals and delegates would be the same, but the perception would be somewhat different.
Also, while I don’t agree with them, a great number of people actually think Bill Clinton was a centrist, and probably force that template onto HRC. Crazy of course, but a great deal of people don’t dig deeply into politicians beliefs.
It is a fun drive. And some of the curvers on Gauley mountain a pretty sharp.
It is a hoot, but they are good words to live by.
If you get by the New river bridge ask someone for directions on how to get to Eagle rock. It's a very cool place to view the New River gorge from very high up.
Thanks for the suggestion, we’ll check it out,
There are a few drives up Northern WV that you might like. You can start in Petersburg & ride to Seneca Rocks. Then over the mountain to Harman and on to Elkins. Or from Harman you can go right on rt 32 and go to Canaan Valley. Or take rt 72 from Canaan to Parsons. There is a detour off of 72 that follows the river and is real scenic.

I always find it interesting when people stereotype others and then call them prejudiced all in the same post.
Thanks for the info.
I’ll try to include your suggestions.
The detour sounds great as I’m trying to get away from folks and all for a few days.
Sure. Let me know what you like to do, there's so much here.
I live near the River (Ohio River) and there's a lot going (festivals, music, etc.)and old-time riverboats for excursions, and their restaurants and theater, on in the river towns, especially as the weather warms up. Given the rain we've had, white water rafting might be a bit more treacherous than usual, and it's always treacherous in the spring. Then there's Mountain Stage for good music, usually blues, country or both, and the Fur Peace Ranch for blues, rock and Jazz. The center of the state is mountainous with good bike (motorcycle) riding routes. Wheeling is for gambling with slots, games and a dog track.
So...tell me more about what type of activity your looking for.
Thanks for the offer Ruder,
I was born in Huntington but left with the family when I was 4.
I’ve been back there several times along the Ohio, and have gone to the New River for whitewater rafting and to see the bridge.
We found the most unique restaurant in Summersville in and old converted Bank. This place belongs in N.Y. or Paris. So the wife and I thought of going to the area with the Motorcycle and riding the W.Va. scenic byways and any other roads that seem to take one away from the hustle of life today.
Several folks have suggested a few good rides and I’ve got info from the W.Va. d.o.t. but I seem to trust folks recommendations more.
Plan to stay a week or ten days.
Any suggestions will be considered and appreciated.
Have a bed and breakfast to stay at near Summersville.
Thanks
