Dukakis: Obama likely to win; must gird for smears
Boston.com ^ | May 9, 2008 | Scott Helman

Twenty years ago it was Mike Dukakis who broke out of the Democratic pack to capture the presidential nomination. This cycle, Dukakis believes -- like many other observers in the party -- that Barack Obama is poised to do the same.

"If you were to say to me, 'If you were a betting guy, Dukakis, what do you think?' I'd say he's going to get the nomination within the next month or so," said Dukakis, who is publicly neutral in the race. (His wife, Kitty, has contributed money to Obama.)

Dukakis is quick to add that politics -- as the 2008 campaign has repeatedly shown -- is an unpredictable business, and that Clinton is not to be underestimated. "She's worked hard," he said. "She's been a damn good candidate under very difficult circumstances."

His advice for Obama at this stage is two-fold: First, build an organization broad enough to have a precinct captain in every voting precinct in every state -- something Dukakis says Obama, more than any candidate in decades, is capable of doing. Second, Dukakis says, Obama and his campaign must devise a sound plan for hitting back hard when the right starts throwing mud -- something he said neither he nor John Kerry had.

“Senator Obama, if Kitty Dukakis were raped and murdered, would you still oppose the death penalty?”

"Second, Dukakis says, Obama and his campaign must devise a sound plan for hitting back hard when the right starts throwing mud -- something he said neither he nor John Kerry had." Scream "racist" as much as possible. turn everything into a "Racist" or "bigoted" attack.

Obama has already started hinting what his "high card" is. And He and racist Wright have spread the hate far and wide. Added to that, is the "guilty white syndrome" Liberal left have spread far and wide that has pretty much ensured that NOBODY DARE speak the truth.

We can already see this in play. Hillary said "white vote" and already pro Obama media has pounced on her saying she has played the "race card".

McCain better have the guts to shove it aside, or else he's already lost.

"Smears",Mike? "Smears" like "God damn America" from his pastor of 20 years? "Smears" like "typical white person"? "Smears" like references to the interview of Bill Ayers featured, appropriately enough,in the 9/11/01 edition of the NY Times? "Smears" like reminding America that Mrs Osama Obama,a $300,000 a year Princeton and Harvard graduate, only developed pride in this country a few months ago?

"Smears" like those,Mike? Perhaps Osama will pose in a tank...all decked out in a tank commander's helmet.

I have two words for you,Mike....Belgian endives.

Its never their liberal views that's why they lose elections. Its that right-wing "mud." That's another way of saying voters are stupid in not seeing through liberals' camouflage to their core values. The voters saw Dukakis as a card carrying ACLU liberal who shunned the Pledge Of Allegiance and was soft on crime. And twenty years after his landslide election defeat, he still doesn't get it.

Mike Dukakis: Sort of a less successful, less competent, less capable, less intelligent version of Jimmy Carter

Without the wit and manly charm.

The truth will become racist chants with the MSM. Not everyone will buy this claptrap. Obame is heading for flaming defeat. The worst thing that could happen is if he won. He would be an old style Kennedy Liberal Democrat with a lilly white cabinate of college chums who would try to re-enact the New, New Deal with lots of new ways to spend the tax payers money. The blacks will be the first to turn on him, I feel.

The charismatic Gov Dukakis managed to blow a 17 point lead he held as late as August 1988. This should give hope to Republicans everywhere, not that McCain is anything to cheer about.

Of course the dynamics are very different this year, and the “news” media are far worse than they were 20 years ago, so I can’t see Obama losing anywhere near as badly as Dukakis did.

With supporters like Dukakis, McGovern, Carter and Kennedy, Obama is sure to sweep all 50 States in November!

The die is cast.

The San Francisco remarks will prove to be his undoing. They’ve gotten the least play but they are the most damaging.

The Reverend Wright is not going away. The Ayers issue has yet to be fully exploited.

And his wife is the ungrateful, bitter gift that just keeps on giving.

Our side’s 527s are going to have a field day torpedoing this lightweight.

He will never be president.

...so I can’t see Obama losing anywhere near as badly as Dukakis did.

But, but, but, Limbaugh said that the only reason McGovern is supporting B. Hussein Obama over H. Rodham Clinton is that he wants to see somebody else lose worse than he did in his lifetime.

I am wondering, how do stating truths become smears?

If you just go by number of electoral votes, Mondale lost worse than McGovern did—McGovern got 17 electoral votes and Mondale only got 13. (He very nearly ended up with only the 3 from the District of Columbia—his margin of victory in Minnesota was a few thousand votes.)

Then there are his books:

Quote from Barack Obama’s book, Dreams Of My Father:
“THE PERSON WHO MADE ME PROUDEST OF ALL, THOUGH, WAS MY [half brother], ROY..HE CONVERTED TO ISLAM”.

From ‘Dreams of my Father’, “IN INDONESIA, I SPEND TWO YEARS AT A MUSLIM SCHOOL” “..I STUDIED THE KORAN..”

From ‘Audacity of Hope: “LOLO (Obama’s step father) FOLLOWED ISLAM....”I LOOKED TO LOLO FOR GUIDANCE”.

From ‘The Audacity Of Hope, “I WILL STAND WITH THE MUSLIMS SHOULD THE POLITICAL WINDS OF WAR SHIFT IN AN UGLY DIRECTION..”

From The Audacity Of Hope, “WE ARE NO LONGER JUST A CHRISTIAN NATION, we are also a Jewish nation, a MUSLIM NATION, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers.”

HATRED OF WHITES:
From Dreams of My Father, “ I FOUND A SOLACE IN NURSING A PERVASIVE SENSE OF GRIEVANCE AND ANIMOSITY AGAINST MY MOTHER’S RACE”. Barack Hussein Obama

From ‘Dreams of my Father’, “The emotion between the races could never be pure, even love was tarnished by the desire to find in the other some element that was missing in ourselves. Whether we sought out our demons or salvation, the other race (WHITE) would always remain just that: menacing, alien, and apart.” Barack Hussein Obama

From Dreams Of My Father: “That hate hadn’t gone away,” he wrote, BLAMING “WHITE PEOPLE — some CRUEL, some IGNORANT, sometimes a single face, sometimes just a faceless image of a system claiming power over our lives.” Barack Hussein Obama

From ‘Dreams Of My Father’, “There were enough of us on campus to constitute a tribe, and when it came to hanging out many of us chose to function like a tribe, staying close together, traveling in packs,” he wrote. “It remained necessary to prove which side you were on,to show your LOYALTY TO THE BLACK MASSES, TO STRIKE OUT and name names” Barack Hussein Obama

THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!
A WHITE CANDIDATE WOULD HAVE BEEN CRUCIFIED FOR MAKING SUCH STATEMENTS!!!
