Victim Says Theme Park Was Negligent.
ORLANDO, Fla. -- A woman beaten in an attack while waiting in line for a ride at Disney World is suing the theme park, alleging that its negligence has caused her permanent damage.
Aimee Krause, of Clermont, was beaten by Victoria Walker, of Alabama, at the Mad Tea Party ride in May 2007.
Krause claims in the lawsuit that security at Disney World failed to prevent the attack from occurring and did not do enough to investigate the incident.
Walker was found guilty last month of battery and sentenced to 90 days in jail and nine months of probation.

It’s not a small world, after all, it’s just filled with small people...

Riiight... so sue the company, because the attacker doesn’t have any money. What an opportunist.
We stood in line for my daughter to meet Ariel for about an hour. I was ready to beat someone. lol
Optimal pun potential.
The line ride ain’t what it used to be.

Perhaps, drugs were involved.
That’s right, honey, you’re supposed to be protected from anything bad. Grow up. I hope the judge throws out her case and makes her pay Disney’s legal fees.

That’s it, I demand stricter screening at the gates.
“Excuse me, ma’am, do you plan on beating anyone in line?”
Ninety days for an attack that caused permanent injury? Something doesn’t smell right.
SOMEBODY needs another beating.

Sure, maybe everyone entering the park should be fingerprinted and have a police background check. Disney should keep a file of line cutters with mean dispositions. Maybe prior to entering the park all guests should be subject to a psychological test to predict their tendency to cut in line and then deck people who object.
I was at Busch Gardens one time and this lady kind of pushed her to the front of the line holding an empty ice cream cone. She told the vendor that someone had bumped into her and spilled the ice cream...so she wanted a replacement. Vendor said, “Sorry ma’am I can’t do that.” She was so pissed, threatened to have him fired blah blah blah. Before I had a chance to this guy told her to shut up and get out of line.
It’s not the park’s fault you dropped your ice cream.
> “at the Mad Tea Party ride...”
Well, she can’t say she wasn’t warned.
Myself... I would have chosen the Sane Tea Party ride, but that’s just me.
Last time our family went to Magic Mountain (Six Flags in SoCal) security guards were taking pictures of everyone who entired — as they entered.
I knew they had a gang problem but still it was creepy.
LOL!
Exactly, and some sheister lawyer is helping her out. What a crock.
We have way too many lawyers in this country. I for one, am tired of getting sued by opportunists (my fault for living in CA for 8 years I guess).
Well, obviously they didn’t prevent the attack. But really, does she expect Disney security to engage in “crimestop” or something?? Puh-lease.
Same here when my son insisted we stand in line 45 minutes to ride the old sub/new finding Nemo ride. I could see myself beating down the people around me - no problem! LOL!

Honestly I don’t mind the wait...but it’s other people that annoy me. ;)
We go fairly regularly and we made the decision that we’re only going during low crowd times. Like mid-Jan is the best.

Black trash attacks white trash. White trash sues.
Fairly regularly? You a glutton for punishment? :snicker:
We made the decision to send him with his retired grandparents from now on. They have those season pass thingies so more power to ‘em!
Are you in SoCal?
Bush’s fault
Well, of course, everyone knows that Disney should provide all visitors to “this magic kingdom” with armed guards on a per capita basis. How negligent of them not to have done so.

No, I live in MD and we go to Orlando quite a bit. Have family down there.
Good! Today's culture has made a lot of people feel entitled to be protected from misfortune--and if misfortune happens anyway, then it's someone else's fault and they should pay.
My husband and I were once on a flight diverted from Pittsburgh to Harrisburg due to heavy fog. Once we were in the airport, the woman in line ahead of us was just spitting with rage over the inconvenience, trying to get everyone to agree with her that the airline was responsible. We all maintained silence, since she appeared to be far too angry to be reasonable. She gave the poor ticket agent both barrels, and the agent was very polite and kind in response. I felt so sorry for her.
When it was my turn, I said quietly, "I'm sorry for what you're going through here, and I do understand that you're not responsible for the weather." She replied equally quietly, "Thank you." We got our new tickets, and didn't notice until we got to the hotel that she'd bumped us up to first class at no cost. A little politeness can do more good than we know.
Ahh... well I was going to tip you to AdventureCity in Stanton, CA. Not as crowded and a great day for the kidlets — not bad for the parents either if you go after the preschools leave.
Cheers.
That’s because she doesn’t really have any permanant damage. We had another thread on this. She broke into line and got beaten down and now wants to sue Disney.
Any reason she can’t get damages from the actual person that assaulted her? I mean, if you feel Disney is at fault for somehow preventing the assault, why not at least also go after the person who assaulted her for damages and recovered costs?
Black trash sues too, but instead of reading about it in the paper or online, you watch them on Judge Judy. ;)
If she were smart, she would have claimed she was gay. Then her assailant - actual or otherwise - would have gotten the Chair.
What?! Are you nuts?
You’re right. It’s not the Park’s fault the lady was pushed and dropped her ice cream, but it wouldn’t have hurt the vendor to be a good soul and have some mercy, especially since these places charge such outlandish prices for everything anyway.
When I see comments such as yours, what comes to mind is someone who enjoys seeing another person have something bad happen to them. I’m not saying that you personally are this kind of person, but that in general, this is what comes to my mind.
I understand how you might not have enjoyed the woman having the tirade and maybe if I saw exactly what happens, I’d feel as you did, but in general, I think people need to be more charitable to one another and, sadly, this rarely occurs.
I would’ve given her the ice cream and enjoyed her smile.
Uh, no, but in certain venues, one should have a reasonable expectation of their safety. Obviously, going to places where large amounts of alcohol are served would be to assume a certain level of risk, but not at Disney.
Incidentally, would you feel the same way if you were in a nice eating establishment and someone began assaulting you and nobody from the establishment tried to intervene?
The Park has security and as soon as a ruckus started, someone should have tried to stop this attack. Just outrageous in my mind and I think the lady was RIGHT to sue.
Aimee Krause fared better than did Allison Krause 38 years ago in Ohio.
I was in a movie theater, and the guy in front was chewing out the poor high school kid behind the counter, because the straws weren’t long enough for his super-size drink. Ah, working with the public...
OTOH, each ride has an operator. They could have a procedure where if an incident occurs, they call park security. In fact, they do this already-—there are usually a couple of thugs arrested every week for starting fights, and other bad behavior, in line.
Maybe this incident just wasn’t big enough to attract the operator’s attention. Which might be telling too.
Your comment is the most well-balanced one in this thread so far. The ice cream vendor had no *obligation* to give her more ice cream, but should have done so out of kindness.
We were at WDW in Jan 07. A group (they were from Brazil or something, class trip maybe?) were line jumpers and we happened to be in line for many of the same rides. My kids would say “there they are again” as they had on the same tshirts and didn’t speak English and kept jumping lines. So on this one ride, I refused to move to let them in and my kids kept saying “ Mom, don’t make a scene” lol. My reply was basically so you want to wait even longer for this stupid ride? I didn’t say anything but I sure as hell wasn’t moving to let them in.
I heard that WDW is getting worse as a relative went last June and said the line jumping was horrible (they go every year).
Today’s culture has made a lot of people feel entitled to be protected from misfortune
Well said.
A three day hopper pass costs approximatley $800.00. where the hell did white trash/black trash afford this luxury? Fresh air fund? Iguess white trash is looking for a freebee.
(crap, hope the paragraph thing works). I wouldn't expect anyone, anywhere, to intervene, although it would be nice. If someone began assaulting me in a nice eating establishment, I'd defend myself. Sure, I'd hope some of the men would come to my aid but sure wouldn't expect them to do so. We're a sue happy country. The woman who attacked her got jail time if I read correctly. That should be enough, imo.
