Washington, DC -- A leading pro-life Catholic is feuding with supporters of Barack Obama who claim to be Catholic but join the candidate in violating the Church's teachings by strongly supporting abortion and embryonic stem cell research. Catholic League President Bill Donahue says true Catholics would oppose Obama.
Donahue began the exchange last week by issuing a press release calling on Obama to dissolve his National Advisory Council because the members of the panel and pro-abortion.

Senator Bob Casey Jr. is a leading supporter of Obama and is suppose to be Pro Life. Bishop James Clifford Timlin of the Scranton Diocese is suppordter of Casey Jr. who is a prominent Catholic.
He not only wasted his time back earlier this year when he was messing with the Republicans, he also lost whatever credentials he had with Conservatives.
He's got a lot of time to spend in political purgatory before he can ever be trusted.
(And I do hope he's given up cruising those homosexual websites where he picked up that garbage he was tossing at several of the candidates. That was so tawdry and ignorant of him.)
Catholic Ping Please.
Obama’s fake “Catholics” are all fiercely anti-Catholic.
For pro-aborts of B. Hussein’s ilk, it’s about as “profound” a moral challenge as choosing the next American Idol.
You just can't let one opportunity to pass by without some snide remark or slam.
You continually bear false witness against Catholics.
from your response it sounds like you have taken offense because you are a homosexual - I have no doubt that you probably are.
Lurking’
Try to find a better spokesman next time.
If Donahue didn’t criticize the GOP for embracing anti-Catholic bigots, then he would have lost his whatever credentials he had with Catholics.
Hardly ~ for many Catholics it’s only the presence of Protestants that reminds them what being a Catholic is all about. If you didn’t already have us you’d have to invent us.
Salvation is back on duty with the Catholic ping list.
Very clever reposte.
All I need to know that I’m a practicing Catholic is my faith.
No, that’s what the Jews are for, we just laugh at protestants and just laugh at their infantile theology, lame “mega”-churches and slick snake oil salesmen.
Sorry jack, the Catholics invented the concept. And snake oil salesmen? Isn't that what the Kennedy family made their living on?
Theologically speaking I belong to a church that differs from the RCs in only one major respect ~ we don't have an hierarchy. Otherwise I know that at any particular moment there's a perpetual novena taking place in my non-Catholic church ~ which is probably not the case with St. Bernadette's to the West and St Francis to the East.
Please don't assume more than can be demonstrated.
Donohue came up with critiques of candidates that sourced back to some homosexual websites. I did the search on that rather nasty piece of business and found that with virtually 100% weblog coverage, those stories had but a single source ~ I'm still p.o.ed at Donohue for having tossed stuff like that around with abandon BEFORE verifying the sources.
He's got some broken glass to crawl through nekkid Fur Shur.
Good on you. Now, go convert the rest of ‘em. Makes my job much easier!
Our Mega-Churches actually look nice and are built to last, protestant mega-churches are nothing more than a suburban office park.
That’s another thing about you people, always taking the fun out of life. The Protestants were the driving force for Prohibition. Think about it, the best places to visit in Europe are all Catholic Countries. Spain, Portugal, and Italy.
As someone from PA, I will say that Casey Jr. says he's pro-life when he thinks it will benefit him, but unlike his father, he does not defend life.
muawiyah
is it your being homosesxual that makes you intolerant of Catholics or is there some other thing going on with you?
Lurking’
Now I know his gray haired old mom would be upset if she were to even be given to suspect that her sonny boy was looking into those places, but I had to do it for the sake of the Conservative movement.
You know that.
but your own personal gayness comes through every time you bash you Catholic brethern which you do with regularity.
Lurking’
With Donohue I only responded to his vicious attack (which he got, as it turned out when I tracked it down, from a gay weblog).
everytime you repeat something which a Catholic tells you is NOT the case about the Catholic faith you bear false witness - unless you personally know it to be a fact.
Calling you gay when you say you are not is no diferent than your telling folks that Catholics worship Mary or the Pope as other schismatics do.
Lurking’
Surprising!
Now, do you worship the Pope? (I'd be really surprised since I've only met a few Catholics who were screwy enough to think they maybe they were supposed to).
So, what's your point? I caught Donohue with his britches down around his ankles trying to run with the big dogs, and there it was, BS from gay weblogs (and they were easy to tell they were gay because they self-identified as "gay").
Someone should do fact checking for Donohue.
BTW, his errors had nothing to do with him being Catholic, just in his being stupid enough to trust others to give him the truth.
We'll you'd better believe I'll never mislead him.
I love my Grandmother (deceaced 40yrs) for all her obediant qualities to God.
I reflect and draw from the memories of her influence in my life.
I have a portrait of her in my quiet room in my home.
I do not worship my Grandmother.
It is that simple.
Or do you enjoy debating for pleasure.
.
Why didn’t Pa. support Rick Santorum who was Pro Life in words and deeds?
Because pro-life PA voters were duped into thinking Casey Jr. was like Casey Sr. (Not that I was a big fan of Casey Sr. - he was pro-life, but very liberal.) Plus Santorum was "swiftboated" by the media - he stuck his foot in his mouth a few times and it got blown way out of proportion by the liberal media in PA who hated him.
Freep-mail me to get on or off my pro-life and Catholic List:
Please ping me to note-worthy Pro-Life or Catholic threads, or other threads of interest.
This isn’t a matter of conservative, republican, democrat or whatever party, it’s Catholicism and life. Abortion is non-negotiable. A lot of folks skipped over that teaching and it’s in their interest to be informed... not for credentials or politics, but for their souls.
It is what it is... if they’re obstinate, they can walk.
All I can do is pray for them.
Question. Is this thread about gay websites or did I miss something, I thought it was about abortion. Do you have a comment on that?

Obama’s Catholic Committee: The Lineup
After a conference call today announcing the launch of its Catholic National Advisory Council, the Obama camp released the council’s full roster. It’s a long and impressive llist of elected officials, scholars, and activists. The Obama camp is treating Catholics as Hillary Clinton’s base—in Pennsylvania, they may be—and knows it has to go all out to eat into it. From today’s call, it sounds like many of these folks will be out stumping for Obama in Pennsylvania and some of the other remaining primary states. You couldn’t make a pimple on Bill Donahue’s backside.
Your response is absolutely ridiculous. If you people would provide Donohue support he wouldn't make the errors he does.
He was clearly out of line attacking any Republican candidates or their supporters. In doing that he aided the forces of abortion.
Your problem is obvious.
Barack Obama just got endorsed by NARAL!
Does this confirm the fact that Senator Casey Jr. is now the official spokeman of the Pro Abortion Movement in Pennsylvania?
**true Catholics would oppose Obama. **
Says it all.
